	Something . . . Claude told me, about one of the memories he had, once. That it was someone different . . . someone really close to the person he was, but not the same. I think so.

. . . it was a memory. Saying it wasn't right, or it wasn't his . . . someone could say that about any of our memories. Anything we get from the judges at all. But that doesn't change . . . to us, they feel real. And they change who we become after, too. Who we are here, and who we were before, and for Claude and Eve and Ikki and Apple . . . and for Summer, too . . . who they were in their memories . . . all if it works together to make us who we are now.

When we first wake up . . .

[Traces a single spiral on the tile.]

. . . this place, and the people here . . . it's all we know. We can't see out of it, because there's nothing else to see. Like being in the middle of here, and the lines were walls around us.

Then we start remembering.

[Draws a second spiral linked to the first.]

There . . . isn't much that connects our memories, and here. Just our message tubes, and the memories of our bodies . . . scars and marks, the way our muscles move. Just enough. And 'who' we are . . . a lot changes, as we move more into that life, and changes back again, as we learn more here . . . until we can stand in the middle bridge, and look at both.

. . . but then Claude, and Ikki-kun . . . and now Eve and Apple . . .

They have a third one, too.

[Loops out of the first spiral, drawing a third . . . and pauses before looping out of it, leaving it unconnected to the second, eyes widening.]

. . . only this time . . . there's no link.

	Ikki-kun remembers here. It's . . . not the first thing he remembers, but . . . it's still there. Eve and Apple haven't been with us as long, so for them . . . there's not as much to remember, next to everything else. Has Summer asked? About the earthquake, or the games . . . She's man-made wings which allow her to manage tasks such as the rescue of engineers who have scaled the outside of clocktowers to adjust the time. I'm such an engineer- and her brother, besides.
