I don't know how the trap played out, but I have earlier memories of the war. The enemy wiped out the population of one of our planets; I remember later being confronted by my superiors for leading many of my peers to defend the Republic despite being forbidden to get involved. We saw a vision of the enemy's--the Mandalorian's--ruthlessness. The death of that planet's population.
