[The note reads: "Hi, my name is Poppy, and I'm a member of Canis. I can't speak normally, but if you lower the psychic wards on your bracer, I can speak to you telepathically. (Don't worry, I can't read your mind.) If you don't know how to lower the wards, it's very simple; just imagine lowering a wall around your mind."

Of course Brass already knows that but the point of the whole thing is to show Brass his name]
