[09 Jun 2010|01:41am] Twenty-two years and four months ago (give or take a day), Harry Potter defeated the Dark Lord. In the years leading up to that fateful day, he and his friends had to grow up too quickly and miss out on some that Hogwarts has to offer, so they could focus on more important things, like saving the entire Wizarding World. Thanks to their heroic actions, the children of Harry, his friends, his enemies, and the people he passed once or twice in the corridors can all go to Hogwarts and grow up on schedule. Without having to sneak out of the Castle to go hunt Horcruxes, the Potters and Weasleys of today (along with the Macmillans, the Smiths, the Whisps, and everybody else) can instead spend their time on more age-appropriate pursuits, like getting pissed out of their minds on contraband firewhiskey. Posteritas is a game focused on character relationships and development instead of an overarching plot, in which your characters will have a typical Hogwarts experience (if there is such a thing). There will be Quidditch matches, trips to Hogsmeade, and surely some good-old fashioned pranks, but the students in school on September 1, 2022 don't have to worry about Death Eaters, dementors, or the dark mark. If you're looking to play an ordinary (or not-so-ordinary) magical teenager with a Hogwarts life made exciting by their peers instead of the outside world, this is the game for you. OPENS JULY 1! In the following years, superheroes and superhero teams began making themselves known throughout the United States. Starting with Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four, the X-Men were quickly joined by Daredevil, Iron Man and the Hulk. It seemed to be that superheroism made you a superstar. But, quietly, Stryker had been hard at work with a secret strike team and also with Bolivar Trask. And in 2009, not long after the Brotherhood had been pushed back and the Morlocks and Acolytes had been introduced to society and appeased, the Sentinel Project was introduced to the public. The X-Men took swift action, splitting off into teams around the world: Generation X in Boston, X-Factor in San Diego, Excalibur in London and the New Mutants in Denver. The X-Men proper remained in Salem Center, New York. However, the government had its own answer to these mutant teams and introduced the Avengers as a branch of S.H.I.E.L.D. and as a team meant to stop any mutant crime and to work alongside the Sentinels. Shortly after, the Fantastic Four agreed to work cohesively with the Avengers. And then the Brotherhood regrouped, gaining the forces of the Morlocks, the Acolytes and the Hellions. Superhuman teams were split into three categories: the teams that worked for the government (the Avengers, SHIELD, Weapon X, and the Fantastic Four), the teams that worked against the government (the Brotherhood, the Morlocks, the Hellions, and the Acolytes) and the teams that bridged the gap (the X-Men and its sister teams). Most recently, Harry Osborn, now a Senator in New York, has been pushing for the Superhuman Registration Act (SRA) again, determined to publicly expose Spider-Man, and has been throwing money at the Sentinel Project. August brings the first day of these graduates’ internships. These questions and more are reeling around their minds as they await their first days of work. However, the most important question of all is absent: The results of Lord Voldemort’s presence can be felt everywhere, from the mysterious seclusion of some classmates post-graduation, to the slew of fervent elopements that erupted in its wake. Outside the secure walls of Hogwarts, the disappearances of Daily Prophet reporters, inexplicable deaths of Ministry of Magic employees, and the growing St. Mungo’s psych ward are becoming a bit more real. The class of ’78 doesn’t live in a safe haven anymore. Meals aren’t served promptly, laundry isn’t folded and returned to wardrobes, and no one is checking to see if everyone gets home safely. This is the first time that most of these graduates will live on their own, and they couldn’t be more vulnerable.
