Imagine a life on high, surrounded by beauty and song (and some blood, because there is always blood). Imagine the sound of your own name as sacred, your likeness a holy object, temples built solely to praise your benevolence. Imagine all that waning with dawn of a new day, and the birth of a three-faced man-god whose worshipers soon outstrip your own. Imagine what you'd be willing to do if it meant keeping a grip on your own glory, and that of those which you loved best. The mighty and endless Greek gods, compressed down into near-nothing. With Greece's decline and Rome's demise as the end-all to empires, an idea spread amongst the immortal. (Who thought of it first? Olympians? Protogenoi? Did it really matter?) The sanctity of their power might shrivel, but they would gather themselves up and bide their time. There was power left to them. They still had tales to tell. And so time ticked on. The gods tended their little mortal gardens, choosing those most fit to coexist with. Some of them withered away into the aether. Others gave up on dreams of rising back to power. Others still refused to lie down and die, and more than a handful of them set up shop in the new Rome, New York City. Trite? Overdone? Oh, yes. But the gods are the gods, and the city burns with a familiar, comforting power. Their time is not yet over. The Vessels is a sandbox-style game which takes the concept of Greek gods reincarnated into mortal bodies, and combines it with a deliberately loose moderating style. Tell the stories you've wanted, but never got around to. Clash against family, lovers, friends or foes. Write out the struggle of what happens when once-omnipotent immortals squat inside normal peoples' bodies. Know your characters, know your concepts, and go play. Holds now open. [28 Jul 2012|03:35pm] RECONSTRUCTIBLE    It's been two years since the Battle of Hogwarts, since Voldemort's reign of terror was brought to an end. Hogwarts has been rebuilt and the Ministry is working diligently to correct the mistakes it made during the war, butting heads with the older generation as they strive to eradicate the prejudice that has been so squarely nestled in the heart of wizarding society. Society has been rebuilding, nursing their wounds, and remembering their dead. The war changed everything and in its wake, those left behind have to reconstruct their lives and move on. reconstructible aims to reflect the political and societal turmoil that comes along with a change in regime and a shift in ideology after the Second Wizarding War. There are new factions opposing the Ministry and there are still some who refuse to admit the war is over and that they've lost. Voldemort might be gone, but all is not well. A balance has been struck amongst the races that now inhabit the land where humans rule and creatures of the dark reside in the land where shadows lay. The four elements of Ignathea are subject to the whims of elementals, talented and rare individuals of the human race who train to use their talents to help others and by royal standard, rule on the throne. Alongside the human race there exists the elves, the dwellers of the forests. The cave dwellers, beings who can change their form to suit their desires and needs. The pirates, criminals allied for personal gain no matter the cost and the exiles, initially the worst of the worst sent away to survive in shame or to die though over time, darkness has corrupted them and all manner of evil being stalks the Northern lands. The natural beasts of this world are primitive and devoid of all sentience save their survival instinct. However, there are a few that are blessed with something a little more, leading them to take sides with the humans and act as their closest friend and ally. The tigers, masters of a hunt, have become the associates of the Terrans, their large size and skill set complimenting them. The horses are the steeds and the companions of the Fluentans, suitable mounts for battle and an incredible torrent of force when their numbers swell. The firebirds, or Phoenix, are the natural choice of familiar for the Iardens, impervious to fire and casting fiery rain down upon foes so an enemy escapes flame from no direction. This is 5 days after Lily and James Potter would have died, had Salazar Slytherin not intervened and killed Voldemort. When Harry Potter opened the Chamber of Secrets and killed the Basilisk, he didn't know at the time that another danger lurked in that mysterious chamber. One with an agenda all his own. Traveling back in time to 1981, he not only killed his false heir Voldemort, but also has taken over Hogwarts, expelling Albus Dumbledore from the grounds.
