The 1996-1997 school year ended with the death of Albus Dumbledore, but while he and Harry were uncovering the truth behind Lord Voldemort's immortality Lord Voldemort was himself in the final stages of a plan that would bring him that much closer to true everlasting life..... To take over the Ministry of Magic. Break into the Department of Mysteries. And solve the mystery of the Veil -- the doorway between life and death. On 1 August 1997, a battle raged inside the Ministry as Death Eaters fought Aurors and Ministry officials for the control of the Ministry for Magic -- and the control of Wizarding England. The Order of the Phoenix found out hours too late, and by that time, Voldemort had won. The next day, the Daily Prophet announced that Lord Voldemort had declared himself Minister of Magic. The reaction was immediate, as countless witches and wizards fled the country. They, as the remaining magical population would soon discover, were the lucky ones. While St. Mungo's remains neutral and Gringotts Bank has taken a violently oppositional stance, the remaining wizarding institutions, including Hogwarts, have no choice but to go along with the Dark Lord's demands. While the Death Eaters have been running the country, slowly but surely destroying all that was good about wizarding society, Voldemort has been examining the veil. It didn't take long before he found a way out. Thus he entered through the veil to explore the realm of the dead. But what he didn't count on was that as he entered, someone was released. Looking exactly as they did the day they died, that soul, who was in stasis at the happiest time of their life, has no knowledge of current affairs or their life after that happiest moment. But they're back, and the only way out for them is to die again. But they don't remember death - they only remember life. Appearing in a discrete alleyway in the heart of Diagon Alley, they are lost, confused, and have no idea what to do. But soon after the first of the undead was discovered, those loyal to the Order have been carefully watching, making sure those who return are properly cared for and given the latest in wizarding communication: the journals. If they have family still alive, they are put in touch with them, and they do their best to readjust to life in 1997. But the question remains: what is Voldemort looking for beyond the veil? What is it that he thinks holds the key to immortality? Only time will tell, and if Voldemort discovers it before Harry Potter destroys the remaining Horcruxes, then the wizarding world will forever be subject to the Dark Lord's rule. post comment

Recuperatio [05 Aug 2009|05:31am] The year is 2005. It’s been seven years since the fall of The Dark Lord Voldemort. One would think that things were back to normal and peaceful. If you think that, then you’re dead wrong. Convicted rapist and murderer, Fenrir Greyback has escaped from Azkaban and has already began to leave a trail of bodies behind him as he works on building a werewolf army, along with being intent on finishing what he started with Hermione Granger back at Malfoy Manor. Poor Crookshanks has already paid the price of his bloodlust. The leading vampire rights activist has been murdered and vampires are ready to expose everyone to the Muggles if the killer isn’t caught and if their demands aren’t met. The Muggle War is affecting Wizards left and right, from soldiers to suicide bombers in London. Harry Potter is still living a reclusive life, still dealing with PTSD from the war. And the Head of the Magical Law Enforcement unit has just been murdered along with the Minister of Magic’s assistant… Someone is hell-bent on killing every single person of importance in the Ministry of Magic. On a non-violent front, Katie Bell is making enemies left and right since dramatically changing the way The Daily Prophet does it stuff, along with raising suspicions with gossip columnists at Witch Weekly, who want nothing but to make everyone out to be someone that they’re not. Minerva McGonagall has just revealed a secret that she’s been keeping for over thirty years. Molly Weasley is meddling into everyone’s lives, as usual. Things are just beginning to get interesting. Sometimes they're in the shape of missing limbs, or gouges in the flesh, pain in the joints or chronic headaches. But sometimes, they come in the form of nightmares. Sometimes those nightmares don't go away when you open your eyes, as you're forced to relive the horrors of your past. And sometimes these horrors haunt you your whole life, causing stress on your personal and professional life. Sometimes those horrors and those nightmares are so real, that you can't tell the difference between them, and every day life. That's when the nice young men, in their clean white coats, come to take you away. To The Sanctuary. The Sanctuary, a clean, safe, wholesome environment where former Order Members, former Ministry Aurors, and former Death Eaters can all recover from the horrors of war together, and learn to get along in a calm and controlled space, where everyone gets their own personal room, and an hour a week with a qualified therapist. There are visiting hours, there are group activities, there's a game room, and a large, beautiful garden out back just waiting to help the inhabitants of The Sanctuary ease back into a normal life and cast away their demons. If only it wasn't run by a woman who would be better suited as one of the patients, instead of The Director. Cameras and microphones in every room, journals that are private to everyone but her, and the possibility of a punishment around every corner. To celebrate such a momentous occasion, local businesses of Diagon Alley have chosen to sponsor an intramural Quidditch League. A few days later you think you back to your childhood and there's a memory that doesn't fit, it doesn't make sense and you try not to think about it because it sets you on edge and makes you feel uncomfortable. It doesn't stop. Maybe weeks go by, or maybe it's months, and someone turns up on your doorstep. Maybe they look official, or maybe they're wearing jeans and a T-Shirt, but they introduce themselves and tell you that they're from something called 'The Agency', they sit you down and if you're lucky they'll make you a cup of tea or pour you a drink before explaining it all to you. The memories are real, but they're someone else's, someone you always thought of as fictional. You're what they call a reincarnate, someone who's been reincarnated from this fictional person, brought into this world with magic that no one yet understands. They talk about a war that's being fought between two sides of reincarnates, the good and the bad. You're not told what side to pick or that you need to, but you know that a day will come when you and the person you used to be and are possibly becoming will need to choose.
