Recuperatio [06 Jul 2009|05:27am]

It’s 2005, seven years since the fall of Voldemort, you’d think that things were back to normal and peaceful. You’re dead wrong.

Fenrir Greyback has escaped from Azkaban and is already leaving behind a trail of bodies as he works on building a werewolf army. The leading vampire rights activist has been murdered and vampires are ready to expose everyone to the Muggles if the killer isn’t caught and if their demands aren’t met. Katie Bell is making enemies left and right since dramatically changing the way The Daily Prophet does it stuff. The Muggle War is affecting Wizards left and right, from soldiers to suicide bombers in London.

And someone is hell-bent on killing every single person of importance in the Ministry of Magic.

Things are just beginning to get interesting.

Want a part in the story? All you have to is join.

Have you ever asked yourself: What if? What if the future could be altered? What if people didn’t die when “it was their time”? What if they lived on, having been able to escape fate?

In September 1979, a young and scared man had been fated to die at the terrifying hands of Inferi. While he lay, cold and wet, believing his worst memories were happening right in that moment, he felt a warm hand. The House Elf, sobbing and rocking back and forth, had been found by Albus Dumbledore. While the old wizard couldn’t get a straight answer from the Elf, he did catch snippets of what was said: Master Regulus! Dying! Cave! In that moment, Dumbledore knew what he must do. He could not leave the young man to his death. He had to find a way to save him.

Dumbledore reached Regulus with little time to spare. The man was writhing on the floor, delusional and sobbing. And in his hand, he held a locket. That curiosity that so often came along with Albus Dumbledore had to be suppressed as he looked around for anything that might help the young man. That’s when he saw the cup. Picking it up quickly, he immediately conjured up water. But the cup wouldn’t hold it. Every time the water was about to touch the cup it would vanish. He was left with only one thing to do. In one swift motion, he dipped his hand into the cold water. The effects were instantaneous: The water practically erupted as the Inferi seemed to come to life. But first, Dumbledore made sure the man received the drink.

Even as the first drops met his lips, Regulus began to feel the delusions slipping away. He felt his sanity returning to him and it was a moment before he realized what was happening: Albus Dumbledore was fighting off Inferi that were threatening to attack. Once his mind was cleared, Regulus joined in the fight. He remembered the little boat and wondered if they would both be able to fit in it. They certainly couldn’t swim back, and he had tried Apparition. But even that hadn’t worked.

But he needn’t figure out a plan, for Dumbledore had already figured it out. “Get in the boat!” Came the booming voice and Regulus was quick to obey. He entered the boat and when he had squeezed to the opposite end he realized the boat was moving. It had left without the older wizard. He had tried to stop the boat, but it wouldn’t seize its journey back, and when he had exited it on the opposite bank it returned immediately to the little island. Regulus waited impatiently and before too long, the boat was returning with a still-fighting Dumbledore in its center. The boat docked, Dumbledore stepped out, and the two of them ran for the entrance to the cave.

Regulus could not return to his old life. He could not return home and expect to see his parents again, because he had betrayed the Dark Lord and Kreacher had already told them he was dead and he would surely be found out for his betrayal. Instead, he was allowed to stay at Hogwarts until he was able to figure out a plan.

It is now December 1979 and with Dumbledore’s help, Regulus was able to hide his identity and begin a new life. The tides had turned and while he was once a firm follower of Lord Voldemort, his beliefs had changed. Within a matter of months he had been allowed into the Order of the Phoenix as a full-fledged member. Now, with his help the Order just may be able to crack the secrets. They may be able to save those whose lives would surely be lost.

Don’t go to sleep. Don’t close your eyes. Keep them open. Open them as wide as you possibly can. Look around you. Take in your surroundings. What is this place?

You may ask: Where have the trains and the skyscrapers gone?

Or you may ask: Where is Cair Paravel? Where are the Lone Islands?

What you will soon come to learn is that you have entered into Aslan’s Land. This is not Narnia at all, but a place resembling Narnia in every aspect. Every tiny detail, right down to the last grain of sand. But how can it not be Narnia? You see, whatever place you may have dreamed of is here. The land, the cities, the towns, the people. They are all Narnian, even if this place is not Narnia itself. In such a place, even skyscrapers may be brought back. You simply have to know where to look.

But even in such a beautiful and peaceful place dangers and evils await. This land, Aslan’s Land, was meant for the good. It was meant for the peaceable. It was not meant for the evil or dangerous. It was not meant for those who seek corruption and vanity. But they still found their ways here. To remove them, to make them leave would be a difficult task. For even the most evil of persons may very well have been the person closest to you. Would you allow them to stay? Or would you help to rid the land of them? To return them to the place they truly belonged. Each is given his or her own choice. Choose it well. For that decision may very well decide your destiny. That decision may mean leaving this land.

What happens to one after entering Aslan’s Land? How far must they go before finding their destiny? Or does destiny even exist in such a place? Do all who come there truly belong? Or have some found the backdoor into this wondrous land? What wonders, adventures, spectacles could possibly be waiting beyond that shore? Only those who have found their way truly know. These are the stories of such creatures. Of a place called Aslan’s Land.

An AU Next-Gen Harry Potter Game

The year is 2031, things have been peaceful. It's been decades since the world has seen true terror. There have been small problems but nothing that shook the Wizarding World the way the Dark Lord had done. As the world moves on, kids grow up, leave school and start there own lives. Nothing seems to be going wrong, no one is focusing on much past there own lives.

That's until June 5th, 2031. The quiet Friday morning was rudely taken away as Diagon Alley crumbled, the entire area pulled down into the earth, by noon that day all that was left were the ruins of what used to be one of the center pieces for the Wizarding World. The only building still standing is Gringotts. The Minster, Patrick O'leary informed the public that the attack indeed wasn't attack, but merely an earth quake.

That was a lie. It was in fact it was someone else that crashed Diagon Alley into the ground. Hundreds died, more were wounded. As everyone thought it was just a terrible tragedy, it was when the Minister died, by what most knew was old age, however there were the few conspiracy theories tossed around. As Carslie MacDougal became the Minister, those that opposed him in Scotland threatened to pull away from the Ministry and create there own governing country. It was the day that one of the leaders of the Scottish rebellion was murdered in Hogsmeade by witnesses, that Minister MacDougal showed his true colors. Anyone who spoke against the Minster was to be arrested.

While in some cases the Quidditch League still carried on, there were still jobs to be had, Diagon Alley was to be re-built, the peaceful world that had once been was gone. The laws were strict, those the were in search of power sided with the Minister, while those against slowly started to form secret groups. The meeting places had to move all the time.

Which side do you fall under?

The Ministry? -- The Rebellion? -- Perhaps you'll stay out of it, live your life as nothing has happened.

Careful, there are deaths all around, not by blood, or status, but by whatever the Minister so decides.

What lengths would you go to to protect the human race?

Scientist Robert Hills went to the ends of the Earth. Having lost his wife to a vampire in 1896, Hills embarked on a mission to find a weakness in the race. He discovered a whole lot more.

Appalled by the underworld he had uncovered, Hills fled to America where he founded The Guild - a secret organisation held in the heart of Maine. For years he worked on building its foundations, testing his theories on various genetic and scientific advances. Having managed to prolong his life and find the "key to immortality", he set about recruiting various members to his ranks to rival the dark forces against the human race. These individuals were altered thanks to Hills' scientific breakthroughs. Their DNA was changed to incorporate special abilites, heighten their natural instincts. With his help and constant monitoring, these individuals formed the battlefront of the Guild and fought the darker elements to protect innocent people.

Years have gone by and still the Guild are strong, but despite their best efforts the demons keep coming to haunt them and give them trouble. Recently they discovered the Brethren, a council of the oldest creatures, who hold the key to the undead's survival against the Guild, and who need to be destroyed if the human race is to live beyond the year...

It's 1999 and Wizarding Britain is a very different place. Voldemort controls a puppet Ministry and is seeking to expand his grasp into Europe and, eventually, the world. But he is not unopposed. There are many resistance groups working to keep him from accomplishing his goal and, among these, there is one that stands out from the crowd: The Order of the Phoenix.

Secreting Muggleborns out of the country to keep them from enduring the horrors of Ministry-run "work camps", the Order is fighting a losing battle. Their last hope lies with a carefully guarded secret: The identity and location of The Prophesied One.

Sic Infit explores the possibilities of what could have happened had James and Lily Potter stuck with Sirius as their Secret Keeper. What could have happened if Harry had never become The Boy Who Lived? What if Lord Voldemort had actually won?

Wars always leave scars. Sometimes they're in the shape of missing limbs, or gouges in the flesh, pain in the joints or chronic headaches. But sometimes, they come in the form of nightmares. Sometimes those nightmares don't go away when you open your eyes, as you're forced to relive the horrors of your past. And sometimes these horrors haunt you your whole life, causing stress on your personal and professional life. Sometimes those horrors and those nightmares are so real, that you can't tell the difference between them, and every day life. That's when the nice young men, in their clean white coats, come to take you away.

To The Sanctuary.

The Sanctuary, a clean, safe, wholesome environment where former Order Members, former Ministry Aurors, and former Death Eaters can all recover from the horrors of war together, and learn to get along in a calm and controlled space, where everyone gets their own personal room, and an hour a week with a qualified therapist. There are visiting hours, there are group activities, there's a game room, and a large, beautiful garden out back just waiting to help the inhabitants of The Sanctuary ease back into a normal life and cast away their demons.

If only it wasn't run by a woman who would be better suited as one of the patients, instead of The Director. Cameras and microphones in every room, journals that are private to everyone but her, and the possibility of a punishment around every corner. Oh, you'll write home every week to your family and make sure to tell them how well you're doing, and how happy you are here.. or she'll never let you leave.

Even then, she might not.

spliffy: harry potter, next generation

Under the warm sunshine, another summer is coming to a close and there are students eagerly (or not so eagerly) returning to Hogwarts; the girls are loitering, the boys are ogling, and the gossip is lingering, as is always the case in a group of teenagers. Love faces off with sex, grades face off with parties, and truth faces off with falsities in the everyday drama at Hogwarts.

However, since the Battle of Hogwarts, the Ministry of Magic has been slowly working on new protective measures to prevent such an event from ever threatening Great Britain's schools again. As years have passed, new restrictive spells have been cast on the grounds of Hogwarts. At the beginning of this school year, under the decree of Kingsley Shacklebolt, a radically developed charm will be cast over the entire grounds as a means to prevent the approach of evil spirits of any sort. Unbeknownst to the returning students and staff, however, this spell has a glaring flaw which has not yet been revealed; it cuts off all contact with the outside world.

As students and teachers are separated from their parents, their families and the rest of Great Britain, what will they do to cope? Can they band together in support, or will they attack one another in bouts of cabin fever? Though all faculty members are hard at work to find a counter-spell, it may not come fast enough to save some friendships, relationships, or even lives.

Oh, and there's spliff.
