calling all qaf fans. [06 Mar 2009|12:11am]
t h i s m e s s we're in

In April 2005 the bonds of a family were stretched and twisted and frayed by time and distanced - but these bonds were too strong to break.

Now, nearly four years later, not much has changed within the extended family unit that had materialized in the Pittsburgh area over the past many years. Liberty Avenue is still a bustling, blooming gayborhood within the metropolis, Debbie Novotny is still playing Mother Hen from her nest in the diner, her son is still happily "married" to a intelligent Carnegie prof, and their adopted son is taking on the world, one college course at a time. And the antihero of all antiheroes? He's still around, tragically as successful and good-looking as ever, working to hold all the frays of the past few years together, if quietly. Elsewhere, two successful women are raising a family outside of the country, and the most infamous member of the past-Pittsburgh Twink Brigade is seemingly constantly en route within the 350 miles between Pittsburgh and NYC. If only he could decide where to replant his roots permanently.

Meanwhile, outside of the steel capital of the world, America is undergoing major renovation. With a new presidential administration comes hope for the ever-proud LGBT community, but the recent passing of Proposition 8 in California might prove to be disastrous for the progressive movement, even on the opposite coast. Political tensions are high, lives are continuing even in the midst of the nostalgia for the beginning of the new millennium, and this family is still struggling to include all of each other within their busy schedules. This Mess We're in is a post-513 roleplaying community based on the hit Showtime series Queer As Folk, and looking for fans of the cancelled show to continue the legacy of the well-developed characters we've been missing for three lost seasons.

and i have seen the sunrise over the river; the freeway reminding of this mess we're in.

City Of Hills is an aim and thread friendly PB/city based community set in San Francisco, California.

Writers of this community are promised to have control over their story lines. As long as things are kept realistic, the mod(s) will not worry about how much of whatever is going around; especially considering this is a city wide based game. If things get out of hand, the game will address the issue(s) as a whole then. Members of this community have a voice with us and their opinions and suggestions are always validated and taken into high consideration. We also will provide a lot of interactive opportunities for characters. All play by (PB) types welcome.

Vampires. Werewolves. Witches. Shapeshifters.

You have been forced to live in the middle of dreary,
cold Alaska because you are different than everyone else.
Forced to control who you are. Forced to hide. Forced to
change your entire life. Those that love you follow
or leave forever.

It may not be much, but it sure is home.

There is no choice. You adapt, or you die.

After having dealt with not only death and despair from the Second Wizarding War, The Daily Prophet also faced a period where it was uncertain as to whether or not there would be a future for the paper. Realizing that the paper needed to be cleared of its bad reputation from the war, Editor-in-Chief Barnabas Cuffe 'let go' of several people that he believed did not live up to his expectations. These spots were quickly filled with newer faces though they didn't have quite the same experience level as Cuffe would have liked.

Cuffe also instated an internship program for those reporters who weren't quite sure on what they wanted to specialize in and thus, would have an opportunity to do so. Slowly but surely, The Daily Prophet regained its once honorable reputation and is currently the highest-grossing newspaper of the Wizarding World.

Thus started the hunt for the Batman, who eluded police and civilians alike. The now-Commissioner Gordon keeps up the charade that Batman is the villain, and the Bat shoulders his new load of responsibility well. Meanwhile, the Joker has been making acquainchocolateces with one Harleen Quinzel in Arkham Asylum, while reporter Mike Engel researches him. Richard Greyson and Barbara Gordon are the grey patches that are starting to factor onto Batman's radar - Dick, always at Gordon's side in the force, and Barbara, Jim's niece and newest employee at Wayne Enterprises - she's nosy, and Bruce notices. Gotham's new hope comes in the form of Edward Nygma, friend to the lost Coleman Reese and mysterious helper at the MCU. New in town is Selina Kyle, yet to meet Bruce but already planning to, and following her is none other than Ra's al Ghul's daughter - Talia.

They thought the hunt for Batman was complicated enough before - but with these new players in the game? It can only get worse before it can get better.

NO SUCH PLACE: An original fantasy role-playing game. [06 Mar 2009|04:22pm]

“ . . . All that was left in Pandora’s box was hope.”

During the 21st century, a global pandemic swept over the world. They dubbed it the “Pandora virus,” or PV for short, because of its devastating nature. The virus tore through the world’s population. It killed almost one-third of humanity in its first month alone. Countries everywhere grew panicked, believing it to be a work of biological terrorism. Nation stood against nation, and a worldwide war began. Much of earth was laid to waste within just a handful of months by the combined effects of nuclear war and the Pandora virus. Survivors immune to the virus found the world uninhabitable, and many of them perished due to radiation poisoning or famine.

There were other creatures who inhabited this planet along with human beings, though. They had just been in hiding for many centuries. Praeternaturals, they were called. Legendary beings and creatures believed to be nothing more than myth. They were also biologically immune to the Pandora virus. With the foresight of the oracle Euryale, groups of praeternaturals learned of what was to come and prepared for the preordained onslaught. They had built safe havens protected by magic in hidden areas across the world. Taking in as many humans and praeternaturals alike as they could before the war, these communities provided a stable living environment for the survival of all species.

One such safe haven is an ancient land once inhabited by elves, abandoned by them long ago, and renovated into a sanctuary. They call it Elysium. Located in the modern-day Republic of Macedonia near Lake Ohrid, it was once a part of Greece. Now, it is a part of the process to one day rebuild the world.

Game Objective.
No Such Place is an original fantasy role-playing game catering to various genres, but it has action oriented game-wide plots that affect all of its players. The world is completely interactive and reactive. Whether you prefer action, drama, romance, or horror — this game allows you to play all and pick your favorite to explore. Your objective is to create your own story. However, beware the setting. Everything affects everything, and like a domino effect, No Such Place will affect every character and player with things beyond their control.

Currently, there is a murderer — or murderers — on the loose in Elysium, disrupting the perfect life of the people within the haven. Some of its own citizens have been felled and grotesquely put on display. The killer is one of us, but who? There are some who have their opinions, but no one who has any evidence. All anyone knows is this isn’t Utopia. Utopia doesn’t exist.

Go ahead, take refuge in the land of Elysium. We promise you'll be safe.
