Leave a comment here with a laundry list of fandoms that you want to see more RPs of, be it GPSLs or RPGs. The point of this 'survey' is to gather feedback of obscure fandoms, or fandoms that are popular or well-known: yet there are no RPs available for it. The reasons why could be because there is no obvious mainstream interest; there aren't enough fans; or it's considered 'old'.

I am interested in franchises, not plots/premises, ala high school settings, desert island, crossover and panfandom, e.g no one's melded fandom X with fandom B before!

Please do not include fandoms like Harry Potter, because that is a clear example of a 'popular, widespread' fandom. This post is not about finding more Potter RPs because there are not enough Quiddtich games, etc.

AMC's The Walking Dead
Pirates of the Caribbean
Bioshock 1, 2, Infinite
Fallout 3, New Vegas
The Last of Us

Added: Red Dead Redemption + Undead Nightmare
'80s Fright Night
Interview with the Vampire ('90s filmverse + old!Rice book canon)
Alice in Wonderland: adapted original literature
Once upon a time

ETA: The Walking Dead appears to be in the lead. It's giving ideas to me and one of my mates.

I feel as though this could quickly move into conversation about how most people aren't proactive enough to start a game for a fandom they may be particularly interested in (for whatever reason), the extremely short lifespan of the average IJ RP, etc. Which is to say: I feel you.

Forum RP is forum RP, journal RP is journal RP. Personal opinion is that people tend to find their comfort zones, then cling to their newfound preference at the expense of other RP mediums. Forum RP definitely has potential, just as PbeM did back before that went out of style. Unfortunately, once folks are comfortable it's hard to coerce them into transitioning into something else.

You mean, it's already become that conversation. Fuck me dead, it's like pulling teeth to persuade someone off-forum to even look at it, let alone read (for example) Jcink's user-guide. Registering at Jcink is less tedious/time-consuming than it is to register an account on IJ, for fuck's sake.

IJ's my comfort zone because of the TOS, but if I was to sort to regularly spend money on server space, e.g to allow higher-rated content, I'd pay for my Jcink board(s), but for various reasons I won't. Forum organizations and whatnot make me very happy with layouts and the rest.

I've written a documentation for forum RPers, of how to use/navigate IJ. I was thinking of doing the same, but in reverse, for IJ rpers. Linking the Jcink guide and offering to help individual players just isn't working. You can find a lot of interested players on IJ, but they just won't budge.

I'm actually not familiar with Jcink -- all my forum RP was waaaaaay back in the day during ezboard's day, or more recently a few years ago with Invisionfree, etc. (I ran a forum game I hosted on my own space before moving to IJ, but can't even recall what intermediary that used.) So tl;dr: is Jcink great? The free ones offer so many compatibility issues, in my experience, but I'm intrigued by the idea of build-your-own.

The IJ refusal to move, from what I've seen, seems to predominantly revolve around the loss of icons, and the inability to easily, recognizably comment-spam. Actual writing doesn't necessarily take the backseat, mind, but it also doesn't carry the predominant weight anymore.

I remember ezboards- fuck, that seems like forever and a day since I've been near it.

Jcink is like the higher-up version of Invisionfree, actually. As an admin, the Admin Control Panel is a lot easier to navigate than IF, the security features is a fuckton better, along with a few other features. I've never built a forum from scratch; I'd probably make a mess of things and break the game/ But Jcink works for me, with terms of organization/layout/security. I'm not prepared to spend money on a free-host, ala build and manage a website/forum.

Lulz, the icon problem. Icon drama on journal servers make me head-desk. Too many players get worked up over not having enough, quality issues, etc. A 100x100 icon (or larger) is the last thing I look at in any thread, damn it. Admittedly, I like filling up my 100 icon-space on one or two accounts, but I can live without it. If the feature/space isn't there, it's not a deal-breaker.
