I clicked a link on my fpage. Therefore I am here asking HOW DO I DO THIS.

[info]townsquare has an awesome layout, it uses CSS I get how the layout and everything is made BUT my question is - there's no Insanejournal code anywhere in the source code.

SO YES. How do I get a layout like that to work? #foreverinlove

Haha, I'm glad you like the layout! Sadly for this, you'll need a paid account. If you have one, you just create a "Most Recent Events" custom S1 style and dump the coding in the last box at the bottom of the page, leaving everything else blank. If you don't insert any IJ variables, it will read like any other website.

The issue with this is that you lose the capabilities for displaying entries on that one page. The way we got around that for the inner pages of the game was to do the entire layout in CSS classes and just add the %%events%% variable stripped bare, adding the CSS classes and ids into the IJ post with a LJ-RAW tag, instead. This is done in a DAY EVENTS custom layout, so you can link it to the day display instead of the full entry URL.

This would mostly work for mod journals, since character or ooc journals need the entries to be displayed. I'm not sure it can be done with just overrides, we never tried. I hope this made sense! Feel free to ask any questions if you have them.

No problem! I'd love to see the end result when it's done :) Let me know if you have any other questions.

Shall do! It's very much a WIP as I don't plan on opening the game any time soon (don't even have a mod journal!) But what I have so far is here but thanks so much for how to do it :)

Just wanted to point out to those who might be reading: You can do this on Scribbld with a free account if you want to just play around with the idea before upgrading to a paid account over here. :D
