Who: Alfred Pennyworth (narrative or open!)
What: reacquainting himself with the Manor, baking, just a normal day for Pennyworth
Where: Wayne Manor
When: after his arrival, nowish
Warnings/Rating: none yet
There was a lot to overwhelm Alfred Pennyworth. He was back in Gotham, a city that he had emotionally tried to cut ties with after he thought the last Wayne had died. Alfred had taken the money left to him and decided to live out retirement the best that he could, made very much better by seeing Bruce and Selina fine-dining.
Now everything had changed. Bruce wasn't just alive: he was the Bat again. He also wasn't the last Wayne anymore: at least two biological children and one adopted one, not to mention the other residents (other residents!) of Wayne Manor who were like children, which to Alfred was just the same. But it couldn't be easy, because they all shared that bizarre desire to dress up as giant bats or other things and come back at insane hours with deadly injuries, and nobody liked to wake up early for breakfast like rational people.
And one of them was currently straying from the flock.
That was the problem with family, of course. Alfred had maintained such a small group for such a long time, and even that one person was difficult. The more people came, there was more support, but also more heartbreak. The risk was a very human one, but the former gain was always, always worth the latter problem. It got beneath his skin that the boy could be harming the Wayne name and the image of the Bat, but one thing at a time.
It would have been easy to be overwhelmed and fight the information presented to him, but it wouldn't have been productive. Alfred had spent most of his life serving the Wayne family, and until he met all the family and got the overload of information sorted out, he was happy to return to the actions that made sense. The Manor was cleaned, the zebras groomed, and a freshly baked batch of white chocolate cookies with cranberries were coming fresh out of the oven.
Nothing to it.
