Hogwarts Library: Remus L/Ginny W
[Remus wondered if there was a point where being here would stop being strange. Different time, different faces, and his name meant something. Not just oh that bloke that follows around Sirius Black and James Potter. Luckily they seemed to know an older version, so his face didn't exactly stand out. Occasionally he got awkward questions, but on the whole he kept to his friends and skirted around the edges. He was always a little wary of questions about his werewolf side. Things were a little better after the initial pain of knowing he missed his chance to get close with Teddy. Perhaps it was for the best. Wouldn't it hurt more, losing him that fast then? Were people supposed to know their futures?

Those were the thoughts twirling in his head in the afternoon. He was sitting in the library in a quieter section, because even in a few decades there was so much more the Wizarding community learned. Remus wanted to keep ahead of the schoolwork instead of drowning in it. Which would be useful if he was actually doing any studying right then. No, instead he was fiddling around in the special journal he got from this 'hotel' nonsense. It was strange reading so many things that made very little sense to him. He liked it, in the sense that new things made him curious, but he was cautious too. At the moment he was sketching and not really using it any other way. It was a stolen quiet moment for the shy Marauder.]

Really? [Remus smiled at her.] That's amazing, you must be very good. What position do you play? [He could see why that would be frustrating, to get so close and then have to take a step backward. The pulled face was completely justified. His smile turned a little shy at the second part.] I'm glad to hear we haven't been a disappointment. You know, we always joked that we'd be legends, but I didn't think it would be true.

Yes, I spoke with someone named Bobby about that door, he said there were superheroes. I know muggles had comic books, but I've never read one.

[She beamed.] I'm not bad. I play Chaser. Played Seeker, but I prefer Chaser. [The shy smile was endearing! She couldn't help but smile back.] No, it's--a little overwhelming, if you want the truth. Maybe more for Harry than me, because he was closer to you and Sirius [and because his parents], but... [Well, she was meeting her maybe boyfriend's parents for the first time. It was awkward.]

Me either. Apparently it's strange we haven't. What's a superhero?

Not bad. Not bad doesn't mean professional. [He teased her, because obviously she was just trying to be humble now. Remus wasn't as passionate about quidditch as most other people at Hogwarts, but he still enjoyed it. He didn't play himself, at least not on a real team, partly due to his monthly problems. But he knew how much work went into doing it well.] Harry's a good sort. I don't always know what to say to him. Or any of you. [That was more honest than he intended, since it meant he was being awkward with her too, and he winced.] Sorry, you probably didn't know I'm generally terrible with people. Was I better as an adult at least?

[Remus shrugged because muggles thoughts all kinds of things were strange that were perfectly normal.] I think they just have non-muggle abilities, our magic might mean the same thing. Something more than human.

[She stuck out her tongue.] Just wait till you see me play. [She was reasonably confident she'd be a lock for Gryffindor's team, because she was damn good. She shook her head.] It's okay. I can't even imagine what it must be like. [She regarded him with a tip of her head.] I think so. You really were a brilliant teacher, you know.

Oh. [Ginny leaned back, knitting her brow.] And the other doors have them? Apparently?

I look forward to it. I'm sure you'll have no problem getting on the team. [His mind was clearly going in the same direction. if she was that good they'd probably beg her to play. Remus wasn't sure if Harry or the others planned on it either. It would be nice to go to games and feel normal again. Or as normal as it got.] It's strange. I don't think how strange it is has been figured out completely yet either. Like our parents not being around now. [But neither was hers. Still for them it was a few decades later.] Was I? [He smiled at that.] I did think about teaching, I just figured it wasn't an option because of. Well. You know. [He still didn't like saying it out loud.]

Yes, but I don't think it's all magic. Some of them are super strong and can fly without brooms. Or so I've gathered. That would be useful.

Snape helped, if I recall. Some sort of potion to help control it. [She didn't know everything that happened with the trio, just bits and pieces of what any of them chose to share, and that was fine by her.] We'd've loved for you to stay longer, but... [Well, he chose it best not to, with his secret exposed.

She scratched her cheek.] Yeah. It doesn't make much sense to me. I thought it was all either magic or electronics for those who couldn't use it.

[Remus blinked at her, somewhat startled.] He did? I haven't ... there wasn't a potion I knew of. [For him the transformations were still very painful and difficult, with his friends managing to keep him under control when he turned.] Severus isn't exactly a friend, he wouldn't offer that. [He was the opposite of a friend, considering how much he despised the group. Remus mostly kept out of it, and he knew there was complicity in that.]

I don't know, it's part of why I keep thinking we should go somewhere else for the holiday. See what's out there. [Remus was usually the most cautious of the group, but he was pensive too. Studious. He was curious about what was out there.] Maybe it's just different types of magic, being called something else.

[She blinked back and shrugged.] I don't know the details of any of it, but, y'know, time passes and things change.

We can still go somewhere during the holiday. [She was including herself, and she wasn't going to give up on the idea. Smiling, she stood.] C'mon. We'll be late to class if we're not careful. [Time to go!]
