She hadn't noticed it at first. The first few days, she'd gone about business like usual. She was only an intern at the Daily Planet, sent on this assignment mostly to get her out of the way from the office. So she hadn't noticed it creeping up on her. But then, when Lois had taken the action by storm, that's when she'd noticed it. To the point where she'd even called the other reporter. Jealousy. It was an evil thing, something that she hated, something that she usually tried to avoid. What was it about Lois Lane that made her such a legend?
Granted, Mingmei's first career choice wasn't reporting. That was just what this world had given her when she'd appeared her through the Door. It should make sense that a legend like Lois Lane could do well in this world. It was her own world, after all, not the one where Mingmei was from. Still. She couldn't deny the feeling that crept up inside her, bubbling and threatening to pour over with every breath that she took. She needed to do something.
So when Mingmei saw the bat signal floating above Gotham, she took to the streets herself. If Lois had covered the gritty details, then, why couldn't she finish up the story? With her camera in hand, Mingmei took to the streets of Gotham. She wore a red cheongsam intentionally, put her hair up in a tight bun, and propped a pair of reading glasses over her nose. She wore comfortable black shoes, making it easy for her to run about the chaotic streets of a darkened city. She was going to get something out of this venture. If nothing else, she'd get some footage, and maybe she'd learn a hard lesson or two. She knew reporting wasn't her end all career. Business was more of her idea of a good time, but for now, this was what she had.
Never let it be said that the Song was done. She was still here, a descendent of the Song dynasty from China, and she would do whatever she could to carry on the pride of her family.
