[Five minutes later, MJ Watson stands on the rooftop of Stark Tower. Clocked out for the day ("Family emergency, Ms. Potts!"), she has her bag on her shoulder and is in a bright sundress (whoops) and a pair of ballet flats. Her vibrant red is loose curls around her face, and she leans on the roof's edge to look down, down, down to the streets below. She didn't lie about it being her first time webslinging, either. Neither of the Peters here before had ever even thought about it apparently. So, she's taken matters into her own hands. After her conversation with Harry (why does he keep telling her he loves her?), she needs something to clear her mind.]

[Peter is kind of a jerk. A funny jerk, but still a jerk. He spots MJ standing on the ledge of the roof and he swings up, catching enough air time to loop his arm around her back and plummet down the side of Stark Tower. There is no warning. One second she's standing there, the next time she's practically free-falling with only a bug arm around her to keep her from going splat on the pavement. It feels like cannon-balling into icy cold water.] I'm 15 minutes late! Do I still get a tip?

[Spider-Man quips to hide everything else that's going on in his head. Yeah, he knew Harry loved MJ and MJ loved Harry and Gwen loved Harry, but after sleeping in the same bed with MJ almost every night, it finally dug into him. It finally hurt. So, he's pulling away the pain one spider web at a time through cheap thrills. Thwip! He shoots a line of web at a nearby building and suddenly they're smooth sailing and the velocity from before is almost completely gone.]

[There's a scream. Blood-curdling and loud, and it takes all of her strength not to flail in his arms. She doesn't, but her heart is pounding in her ears, Peter Parker, and adrenaline rushes through her like the best kind of drug. She just shakes her head at his quip, a huge grin spreading across her face as her arms wrap around his neck tightly.] You've got to work for the tip now!

[She doesn't think about Harry or the ache in her heart. She doesn't think about the confusing feelings she has for Peter, who she's slept next to almost every single night. (That is a mess in of itself. She wonders now and then, as they lay together at night, if he can feel her heart beating fast, then slow as he holds her in his arms.) She just thinks about the rush in her head, the dizziness in her brain, the feeling of him holding her tight in his arms.]

[They're several stories up. People stare and point. Some yell It's Spider-Man! and try to take a picture for their Facebook wall. Spidey is used to all of this. He's a natural and it shows by how smoothly they seem to be flying through the air.] So far so good? [Big smile on his face, she can hear it through the mask and that's a good sign.]

[Her arms tighten around his neck a little more, fingers digging near where the nape of his hair would be if not for the mask.] You could give a girl some warning! [But, she's smiling brightly, and her cheeks are pink with the thrill, and he can tell in her voice that she's in love with this feeling. Better than anything she's ever taken in the bathroom of some lowly-lit club. Her red hair whips in the wind, and there's a sense of freedom about her that he's never seen.]

[Each string of web glistened in the sunshine before fading up and away into the distance. He swung them up, releasing his hold on all the webs he had in his hand and let them free fall again. It wasn't as fast as the first time, but the bump of the sling shotted angle still was enough to make a tummy flip. He smiled over at her, shot out a web and then safely swung around a giant bank building.]

Yeah, right! You'd be totally disappointed if I made you take web slinging baby steps. This is the only way I knew you could hang with my crew. [Geeky, awkward and so lame. So very lame.]

[Her eyes close to take it all in, sharp breath rattling in her lungs as her grin spreads big and wide, and the plummet of her stomach at the next drop elicits a bright laugh. Free and easy and girlish. Her heartbeat is erratic, fast pitter-patters of adrenaline rushing through her veins and hammering against his chest. She isn't scared, though. She trusts Petey with her life. She's just absolutely thrilled.]

Crew? What are you, seventy? [He's adorable. Her cheeks are red, and her green eyes catch the whites of those bug-eyes. She's laughing.] You wouldn't have a crew without me. No cred whatsoever!

I'll only let you in the crew if you tell everyone what a cool dude I am! [There's no denying the sights and sounds of the city are different from way up high. Slinging through the air at impossible speeds makes everything else a beautiful kind of blur. He shows off. Spinning without flipping her, sailing around the tower of a church just as the bells start chiming. Eventually they're swinging up like a rollercoaster climbing up its impossible peak and they land gently on top of a high building above her apartment complex.]

Stark Tower has a good view. But, I like this one better. Look! Pretzels! [He makes sure she's standing steady, arm still around her waist.]

[MJ's bright grin has a sense of wonderment in it. A flicker of something new, something easy. Her heart is in her throat, and she's trying her best to take it all in. The sights, the rush of air, the thrill pulsing through her veins. Him. She holds on a little tighter as he shows off, and eventually the wind is just simply knocked out of it as they rocket up to the top. She's breathless, and just a little lightheaded, and practically high off of it all. As they land, she laughs again, something surprised and happy, and she leans forward as far as his grip will let her to look down and out at her city.]

This is amazing, Peter. [He can see the smile still plastered on her face. She's breathless at the sights and leans back into him.] Amazing.

[Spidey seems proud. How many times does he get to show a girl web swinging for the first time? And, MJ of all people. He hugs her and grins.] Amazing Spider-Man? I should call the Bugle to see if they'll start calling me that. [He sighs and the weight is lifted off his shoulders.] Whenever things get bad with you and me and Harry and Gwen, I might ask you to go out with me- I mean go swing I mean this- this thing we just did!

Sounds cliche, Petey. And really, really egotistical. You aren't that great. [Smirk. Swinging around with him just made her feel better than anything else has in ages. It is simply amazing, and she returns the hug with a grin.] Oh? [Smile, hand resting on his chest, green eyes up to the whites of his mask. Smirkity smirk, teasing.] You can ask me to go out "swinging" with you any time.

[He gets antsy when she rests her hand on his chest. It's so familiar and right but wrong. She's not the Mary Jane he grew to love, she's different, but there's so much there he's already attracted to.] Hah hah. [Peter looks around the rooftop to see if anyone is there and then takes his mask off.] I like you and stuff. [His heart is pounding out of his chest, trying to escape the embarrassment cause Petey can't. Is this high school? Why does it feel that way when he's only a few years from thirty?] So, uh, go easy on me.

[He's not her Peter either, but he looks so much like hers, sounds like hers, feels like hers. Her heart skips a couple beats, and god, she's just so charmed by him. He can tell in the way the corner of her eyes crinkle and her smirk softens to a smile. When his mask is off, she reaches up to smooth his messy hair, a habit she's always had with Peter Parker.] I like you and stuff, too. [Her greens flicker to his lips for a moment, hand sliding down the back of his neck to round around to his shoulder.] I promise I'll be nice. [And just like that, she moves in slowly to capture his mouth with hers, eyes drifting shut.]

[He likes her smile. With MJ, it was always hard to get past the smirks and winking, but once he did it was always worth it. The kiss catches him off guard. Hazel eyes practically popping out of his head. It only lasts a moment. One moment of kissing her and things click for him. She doesn't feel or taste like his Mary Jane and that's good. That's what he was hoping for. Peter pulls her close, kissing her back happily before pulling away and smiling. His face is bright red, matching the spidey suit.] It doesn't- we don't. [Words, Peter. Use your words.] I like kissing and snuggling and I want to do that stuff with you. Sometimes. When we feel like it. Cool beans? [Cool beans. Really, Parker?]

[Part of her flirting is a front, part of it is all trying to guard and make herself feel secure in who she is. With Peter though, it's always been so much easier to drop the act. She just doesn't do that with anyone else. Plus, she's never kissed Peter, not any version that she's spent time with, and little surprise it feels different than anything else. Safe, warm, nerdy happy. She laughs quietly, eyes sliding open slowly to spy the ruddy cheeks. Her cheeks pink a little, too.] Cool beans? [She smiles, something warm and encouraging.] When we feel like it. I wouldn't want to make you feel uncomfortable in my bed at night, after all.

[He sputters at the thought of her making him uncomfortable and then shakes his head.] Gwen thinks we're going to be dating in a month, we can't prove her robot mind can predict the future. [And, really that's the snag here. Harry and Gwen intertwined with them, caught in the web. That's why Peter wants it to be simple. He hesitates, then grabs her face and kisses her again before practically bellyflopping off into the New York streets below.]

[A second passes. And, he remembers that he left her on top of a building. A thwip and he hops back onto the roof, casually walking back over to her.] I think I forgot something.
