Who: Jonathan Crane & Sam Alexander
What: A little meeting
Where: New Arkham
When: Recent!
Warnings/Rating: TBD~

[No one could argue the fact that Jonathan Crane was nearly a model patient at New Arkham Asylum. He did as he was told, didn't talk back to the staff, and was, in a nutshell, peaceful and quiet. As such, they didn't strap him down or drug him for visits, instead simply letting him know that someone would be in to see him, and would he please be sure that he was in his room at the appointed time.

That's how he was that afternoon. Freshly showered, his hair combed back from his face, he didn't look old enough to have done the sort of things that he had been accused of. Barely over 21 himself now, he still had a youthful face, though the long lines that made him up gave him a look that was peculiar. He was a strange thing, and not even youth could soften that.

His attention was on the book in his lap as he waited, long fingers turning pages, thinking back to what Becky had said about escape. Maybe it was time to leave this place, one way or another.]

[The name was familiar from his time with the girl named Ashleigh, but he didn't remember much about it other than Sam Alexander was a bit of a magnet for trouble. Crane wondered what had changed to have her working here, but then again, Arkham employed all sorts, didn't they?]

Group therapy? [He tilted his head to the side.] I don't think I'm really the type for any sort of group therapy, but I'm willing to humour the lot of you, if you wish. [He glanced down at his book, the copy of Ulysses that he had received for Christmas.] Just a book that I enjoy. Nothing that I can't pick up once you leave.

[She looked at the book, a slow slide of gaze that wasn't threatening or anything. Just casual curiosity.] Ulysses. Leopold Bloom, yeah? What do you like about that one?

[A smirk.] My grandmother hated that I read it. I think I enjoy it just to spite her.

Think you're escaping and run into yourself. Longest way round is the shortest way home. [She considered the closed book, as if it was just that, yeah? A book. Not something he was hiding shit in. Not something done to piss off someone who probably long fucking dead. She had plenty of fucking secrets, all built up atop one another during the last six years. She didn't hide them in books.]

[His lips pursed for a moment at that, and after a moment, Crane took the book and tucked it beside him, pressed against the side of the chair and his leg.] Enough about my reading habits, hm?

Ok. [Easily.] What do you want to talk about?

How about we talk about me getting out here?

I don't have any control over that. I'm not a doctor or whatever. I can't even make recommendations. [She gave him a shrug of narrow shoulders, because she was the epitome of powerless. It was written all over her, that she didn't control a fucking thing in her life. Even this job was something she'd been forced to take. Yeah, no, she couldn't help him get released.]

But if you go to therapy and talk to people, then it looks better, yeah? [They'd had a breakout recently, and she knew it was only a matter of time until their other big name visitors were gone, him among them. But, whatever, this was her job. She went through the motions.]

I make my appointments. I play the games here. And even good behaviour isn't going to have them letting me out. I'm not interested in group therapy, though. I don't need to hear about John's daddy issues or anything like that. [He made a face, one leg crossing over the other.]

[She watched him cross his leg, gaze slow, and then she lifted that inky blue gaze to his face.] Yeah. Ok. I'll tell them.

Good. [It was said crisply, his words clipped and short.] Was there something else you wanted from me, then?

[She stood, and she smoothed her practical shirt when she did.] No. That was all. I'm sorry you won't be joining us, yeah? I'll let your doctor know. [She turned for the door, and she stopped partway.] Twas only fear first in the world made gods. [He'd always liked that quote, yeah? Her version of him.] Ben Jonson.

[She left without looking back.]
