You open your eyes and you are in a stately room with fine trappings and thick stone walls. You look outside and a dragon flies passed your window and yet that is clearly a sprawling, modern city you see in the distance. You search your room for any clue as to how you arrived in… where are you? All you find is a scroll inviting you to enjoy your stay in the Land of Make Believe. And that's when things get odd...

Pandora's box. Everyone knows the Greek myth about the box said to have housed all the world's evils inside. However, few know that such an item truly exists. Before Voldemort had Bellatrix Lestrange, Grindelwald had Pandora Zurlo, a witch of unspeakable cruelty with a penchant for dark magic and a taste for sadism.

Wanting to savor the pain of her victims, she created a box to capture their emotions as she tortured them to death. Every tear of desperation, every scream of pain, and every death rattle found its way into that box to delight Pandora whenever she wished. However, she disappeared when Grindelwald fell, and the box was lost with her.

Until now.

The box has been found and just like the story, all its evils have been unleashed to torment the unsuspecting and the innocent. A darkness is creeping through the wizarding world, unchecked and insidious, slipping into people's bodies and minds. The lucky ones will only suffer. The unlucky ones will die.

"We want you at Impetuous!"
.

Werewolves. Quidditch players. Ministry laws. Impetuous RPG is a multi-faceted game. With a strong social aspect, laced with dark undertones, Impetuous is a plot progressing game where new laws are being in enacted by the Ministry of Magic. The purebloods reigned for years but a group of muggleborns and half-bloods, scared of a potential pureblood rising, are pushing for new laws that limit the rights of the wizarding population.

The year is 2002. The fourth anniversary of the Second Wizarding War has come and gone. The past three years have been filled with rebuilding and recovering from both the emotional and physical damage wrought by the war. The acting Minister, Kingsley Shacklebolt, has just come out on top in the most recent elections, the first ones held since the end of the war. He'll be staying in office another four years.

The public has been demanding that something be done to prevent events like the rise of Voldemort and the Second Wizarding War from ever happen again. Acting impetuously, the Minister of Magic proposes the first of what will come to be known as the Bones Laws. A seemingly innocent blood census is just the first step in an increasingly oppressive campaign against Purebloods...

The murder of a notable pureblood, Narcissa Malfoy, might just pit purebloods and muggleborns against each other once again.

❦Wanted: Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Luna Lovegood, Oliver Wood, Lee Jordan, George Weasley, Blaise Zabini, Charlie Weasley, Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws, Ministry workers and more

Diverging: A Superpowered PB Experience [06 Oct 2011|09:28pm]

Sometimes things fall apart...

Mutants walk among us and have since time immemorial, though they have only been publicly acknowledged since the 1960s. Fifty years after the first pro-mutant demonstrations in the United States a great deal has changed. The country has not one but two schools dedicated to the training and education of people with powers. Their goals, however, are incredibly different. The government funded Shepard-Wyatt Institute has a long tradition of training mutants to work for the military while the secret sanctuary of Hewitt's School for Troubled Youth advocates choice. With the political climate in the country heating up once more on mutant rights issues can these two schools continue to peacefully coexist, or will it end in a showdown played out on the streets of the nation? Only one thing is certain: diverging paths and opinions can only lead to discourse or destruction.

[info]diverging is a superpower-based PB game that welcomes diverse characters created by players ages 18 and up. Set in modern times in the United States, our aim is to explore the unique dynamics of a powered world between the students and staff of both the government-run Shepard-Wyatt Institute and the privately-owned Hewitt's School for Troubled Youth on an individual and collective level.

...so better things can fall together.
