MARRIED LIFE MEME

There are different stages of married life. there's pre-wedding when you're on your way to the altar, there's the honeymoon and that new period, and then there's settling in and getting domestic. Either way you've found the person that you want (or wanted) to spend the rest of your life with. Maybe it's all fluff, maybe it's harder than you thought, but you agreed...for better or for worse.

PROPOSAL PROMPTS

PARK: you've been planning this proposal for awhile and have taken your sweetheart to a nice secluded area in the park. are they going to say yes or leave you in the dust?
HOUSE: dimmed lights, candles, home made dinner. it's obvious you've fixed yourself and your shared home, or maybe just your's, up for something tonight. let's see if your lover catches on before the question is popped.
PUBLIC EVENT: perhaps you're one who wants to gain a lot of attention; maybe your significant other doesn't as much. either way, this goes from writing their message in the sky with an airplane to something like a flash mob ensemble with others involved.
RESTAURANT: nothing romantic like taking them out somewhere ritzy and hiding the rings in that glass of expensive wine...or cake.
CAR: you've driven them somewhere nostalgic or meaningful either to you or each other, or perhaps just a good view overlooking the city cause maybe you had no other idea how to do it or couldn't afford anything else.

MARRIAGE PROMPTS

TRADITIONAL: both parties have agreed and said yes, and everything goes well just like in the fairy tales you've always dreamed of.
ARRANGED: you had no say so in this but somebody else like your parents did. you've never seen this person before until you walk down the aisle. what are your thoughts? are you nervous? what if you two don't get along? looks like you have to deal with it either way. enjoy?
ELOPING: nothing fancy. you know, they do make drive thru chapels or perhaps you're just going to experience the excitement of meeting up at the court. all and all, it doesn't matter, just so you have your sweetheart to yourself.
SHOTGUN: congrats, somebody is pregnant or has a really old-fashioned family and you got caught. there's only one more thing left to do now..
DISASTER: looks like somebody forgot the rings! never mind the fact the maid of honor is having a wardrobe malfunction or that soon to be father in law is causing a scene of some sort.

POST-WEDDING PROMPTS

HONEYMOON: self explanatory! come on, you know what this means. it just wouldn't be the same without this option.
NEW ADDITION: it could be a pregnancy or bringing home a new child, or something as simple as a new pet goldfish.
NEW HOUSE: after months of living in a trashy apartment, you're both about to sign the dotted line and move into your new place.
ARGUMENT: deep, relationship sort of arguments or something petty like who drank all the milk; it's up to you!
DIVORCE: somebody has had enough of this and is ready to move on. how will it all go down?

DOMESTIC LIFE PROMPTS

HOUSEHOLD CHORES: it's time to clean/cook/garden/take care of something! do you work together, or does one of you hide until everything is done?
SHOPPING: whether it's for furniture, groceries, or something in between, shopping is something that everybody must do at some point in time! what varies is if they like it or not.
VACATION: WE'RE OFF TO DIDNEY WOOOOOOOOORLD or wherever ... well, as long as the kids are happy, right...? you may not be happy (or maybe you are), but it's mainly about ~family bonding~. Or maybe it's about couple bonding and you're taking a roadtrip, nobody here to judge your vacation!
ROMANTIC RETREAT: it's you and your loved one's anniversary, and you decide it's time to take some time off and take them somewhere nice, where you only have each other.
COMFORT: is somebody sick in bed? or perhaps they just had a bad day? sometimes, a good breakfast in bed or a home-cooked meal can really lift the spirits! or perhaps you want to try medicine, or laughter, or something else?
HOLIDAY: happy birthday/New Years/Christmas/Valentine's Day/whatever! it's a very special day that only comes once a year, so make it count!
MAKE-UP: it's time to make amends for that fight/divorce/whatever you had before! after all, you love each other... right?
SURPRISE: you are feeling rather loving tonight, so you want to remind the other person how much you cherish and appreciate them... if it's by something cute and adorable or hot and sexy is completely up to you.

It's been weighing on her for months. Everything's been so happy... or at least it seemed that way. Their careers were taking off, his show was renewed, and she just got casted in an independent movie. It all seemed so right. Dave didn't help, either. He acted like he had the whole world in the palm of his hand, like he was living a dream and nothing could go wrong. She should have left. She shouldn't have said yes. Now they're both living a lie and it's all her fault.

She hasn't been coming down to visit him on set these days, seeing Mox was too much. It wasn't even that she felt the weight of their actions when she was around him, it was that she didn't and when she got home she felt the weight of that.

She came home before him today, she felt like she was suffocating while she was going out to lunch with her friends and the realization of what she needed to do hit her like a ton of bricks. She needs to tell him the truth. She needs to cut it off clean before they get in too deep. Marriage is one thing, but Dave is the family sort of guy. She thought she wanted a family with him too, but now she doesn't even know anymore. She doesn't feel right letting him think they're living a perfect life when she keeps screwing things up.

She sits in a lounge chair in the living room, anxiously tapping at the side of her mug as the raspberry chai steam caresses her chin. She hears the hum of his car. The sound of the car door shutting. The ever so distinctive walk that used to make her feel safe as he approached... now she just feels vulnerable. His key turns in the lock and she shifts in her chair, leaning forward. She can turn back now, but she needs to set things right. She owes him this much.

It took Oliver a few seconds to realize that Felicity was no longer walking by his side. He paused in his step and turned back toward the blonde that usually couldn't fit enough words into a day but had been incredibly quiet all morning. They stood in the middle of the Courthouse, people walking past them as if they were invisible. Somewhere outside, Diggle waited for them. Oliver figured they would be in and out, five minutes tops. Not exactly the most romantic way for, well, this to happen, but they didn't exactly have a choice. His eyes kept sweeping the hall of the courthouse, willing Laurel not to make an appearance right about now. He wasn't sure what he'd say if she asked what he was doing here.

And as to what Felicity would say? Well, probably about everything considering how much she was keeping in right now.

"Felicity," he said slowly as he approached her, coming to a stop right in front of her. "What are you doing?" His eyes followed some lawyer that had nearly run right into Felicity from staring at their phone before they dodged at the last second. He returned his gaze to his - what would it be? Fiancee? - to Felicity's face. He lowered his voice. "Are you having second thoughts?"

Felicity had probably, no strike that, definitely envisioned this...or rather daydreamed about it. Of course, those daydreams were much more romantic and much less of a...was death march being too dramatic? Felicity's head turned toward her...wow fiance...that was....that was definitely a hard word to swallow, but death march seemed accurate looking at him and the determination that seemed to be all over his face.

They were in the courthouse. They were in the courthouse and they were getting married. They were in the courthouse and they were getting married and Oliver was looking around like they were going to be under attack at any moment.

Yep. Felicity was dumbfounded, in shock, and glued to the spot she'd stopped...no matter that it was the middle of the courthouse. Nope. It even took the bespectacled blond a moment to snap out of her thoughts, out of her daze, as her eyes lifted to look at Oliver's face. "What?" Shaking her head, the blond ponytail bounced with the movement and Felicity, well, she did what she did best as the dam broke. "No, I'm not....I mean, yes I am. I don't really know what I'm doing here, actually, my feet seem to have stopped working." Felicity looked down and then back up. "But I'm not actively having second thoughts, I can't actually help it, that's sort of the way that my brain works. And even though I know the reason that we're doing this and it's an incredibly good reason...we are getting married, Oliver. That is very real. And and and...I'm not backing out, but oh boy....this is big, necessary, but big."

Felicity's eyes widened as she said it out loud, definitely not fearless to do this, not like him but she pointed at him anyway, much more shakily than she wanted to.

Oliver patiently waited as the words started to tumble out of Felicity's mouth. There was no reason to stop her mid-rant, though he did give a passing lawyer a look that quite plainly said move along when he started to slow in an obvious attempt to eavesdrop. Him just being Oliver Queen was drawing enough attention to the both of them without Felicity having her little breakdown, but Oliver knew that she needed this moment. Hell, she deserved this moment. She was doing this for him, for his family, far more than she was doing it for herself. Of that, he was certain.

What was the figure Felicity had thrown out at him? A 83% greater chance of getting his family's company back if he presented himself as a family man instead of the partying bachelor that the tabloids still pegged him as. Being the unreliable partying son worked just fine when he needed to simply disappear. People could just assume he had fallen over drunk somewhere, and that was fine with him when his public image no longer mattered. But getting the company back and restoring something, anything of good back to the Queen name... that was all he wanted. And Felicity saw that.

He thought about Digg grabbing his arm as he walked into the courthouse, just a few steps behind Felicity. "Don't do anything you're going to end up regretting, Oliver." He'd thought long and hard about that himself on the way end, but Felicity's ranting mouth brought a small smile to his lips, and he realized that calming her made him feel calmer. Somehow.

Oliver places his hands on his arms as he stared down into her face. "Felicity, breathe." He took a second for that order to sink in before he spoke again, "Yes, this is big, and yes, this is real. But I want -- I need you to know how much this means to me."

Felicity fought the passing urge to jab a pointed finger at Oliver for the smile that pulled at his features. This was serious. This was...incredibly serious. Felicity, better than Oliver and Dig both, knew the math....the percentages. She knew that Oliver's family needed this company back, she knew that Oliver needed this, and she knew that the team needed this too.

Did she need this? Not really. She was doing this because....well, why was she doing this? Why had she agreed to do this? Oliver could have picked anyone, but ultimately she was the choice. She was the person that he could trust. She understood the importance, she was unattached, and on paper it made sense.

In practice not so much. Would anybody actually believe this? Would anyone really believe that Oliver and her were real? The little thoughts that had been held at bay were all flooding her mind right now.

Only to come to a startling halt at Oliver's hands on her arms, and the order. She did as told and sucked in a breath, letting it out after a moment, looking up at his face through her glasses, calmed...to a degree. "I know." Felicity bobbed her head in a nod, and it was the truth. She understood how much this meant to him, fully. Letting out another breath, Felicity relaxed, well, as much as one could when marrying someone at a courthouse in order to save the other person's company. "I know, and I'm okay. I just needed a little moment to...." Felicity raised her hands in a little bit of a spazzy gesture, along with accompanying noise before dropping her hands, focusing back on Oliver's face.

He was steady. He was calm. They could do this. They had to, it was for a reason.

"I'm okay, I mean, maybe not okay, but I'm ready. I'm resolute and we're doing this, no doubt about that." Felicity forced a smile, though, it was definitely not natural. "Because I know how much it means, and I know I'll be okay, that we're doing this for the right reasons, even though my mom might not see it that way when she actually finds out, but I don't actually have to tell her and I'm doing it again so I'm going to stop...now."
