Kate wasn't sure where she was or how she got there. The last thing she remembered was being on vacation in Canada with her parents and brother. Then she was standing next to some weird tree stump in woods that didn't smell familiar. She knew that she was supposed to stay put if she ever got lost and let someone from the Pack find her, but at the age of five, she was far too curious for her own good and she knew that she could totally figure out where she was and get back to her family.
Even though she was too young for her first Change, she was already exhibiting a lot of secondary characteristics of a werewolf, including enhanced durability, so she had no idea how far she managed to travel away from where she originally woke up. Unfortunately, the woods were vast and she only managed to get herself more lost. This was bad. She was going to be in so much trouble.
The wind brought the scent of another werewolf. It wasn't a scent she recognized, which meant it wasn't Pack, but it also smelled... different. Not bad, like the Mutts, but different. She remembered her parents talking about other kinds of shifters in Alaska. Maybe this was one of them? Either way, she figured that another shifter might be able to help her, so she followed her nose in the direction of the scent until she found a man she didn't know.
Caution had her hanging back, peering at him from behind a tree, trying to determine if he was the kind of man who would want to hurt her or not.
