Bella couldn't help but smile as she made her way along the path, tucking her hair back inside her hood to keep it out of the snow. Although she missed Charlie, she couldn't help loving all this free time with Edward, without anyone breathing down their necks. Apart from then they were working, Edward and Bella spent every moment together. She was only alone now because she'd insisted on some time alone for a shower and change of clothes before he came over for the night. He still stayed with her while she slept most nights. She had to admit, she didn't think she'd be able to sleep without him now. He made her feel safe. Still, that first night she was here, when she'd fallen asleep on Jacob, had been rather more comforting than she liked to remember.
Crossing her arms over her body, huddling against the cold, Bella walked towards her cabin. She wished she'd bought a coat with her when she left for Edward's earlier that afternoon. The night air was cold and cut easily through the material of her hoodie. Still, she had to admit, she was used to bracing herself against the cold. Edward's skin was always icy, but she'd give the world to touch him, despite his frosty exteriour. Besides, her skin would be like that one day.
Bella slipped one hand into her jeans pocket, keeping the other one tucked around her for warmth, to pull out her key. She still hadn't met the other people staying in her cabin, and she didn't want to ring on the doorbell. What Jake had told her that first day about there being a vampire in her cabin still worried her, even though she was rarely there alone, and Edward would be able to hear her screams from a mile away if anything happened. She grasped the keys tightly in her hand, making sure her long sleeve was pulled down over her hand to keep her warm, as her cabin came into sight, looming out of the darkness of the night.
