Wainright Manor: Hunter R & Damian W
Who: Hunter Reed & Damian Wainright
What: meeting? arguing? who knows!
Where: the manor
When: recently
Warnings/Rating: TBD
It was neither early nor late. It was a middling hour, doused in sunlight that burned through the quickening cloud cover of early spring. It was neither warm nor cold. There was a breeze, the sort that required a wicking jacket or perhaps a solid sweatshirt. And Damian was neither impatient nor patient as he waited by the open gate of the manor's property. He simply was, as if he were a statue of bronze, impassive and cold-carved. He could not say he was not curious with the same certainty, however, as Hunter was an as-of-yet-unknown. It brought him back to recent weeks, to meeting his sister and how that knowledge had felt in his veins—the knowledge of family as it broadened from Father to include Sister, and now, (Second) Cousin. Grandfather had reappeared as well, and quite suddenly, Damian had a family that reached beyond the roots of his very own feet. He had not yet decided how to feel about it, if anything at all. Perhaps, he thought, it wasn't worth it. Perhaps, he told himself, they didn't matter, save Father and Mother (and Grandfather), of whom he was born. The rest were peripheral and he oughtn't allow himself to be distracted by their presence.—Yet here he was, waiting—waiting for someone lesser than he was, with nothing but a few drops of blood connecting him. After all, what all did he really share with Hunter Reed? The boy couldn't spell. He was uneducated and crass. But, ...Damian felt an affection for him. Or, as he justified it to himself: a responsibility. A blue-sick thread of smoke denoted the man's location. He bobbed his way back to the front porch, finally convincing himself it was fine that way. He huddled beneath black hoodie when he really should've stood tall and with breadth of shoulder drawn. But, he wasn't thinking on that. He wondered about the face he would soon learn and if there would be reflections in it. No, likely not. |
