The day is long, too many hours to kill...
Who: Lalita Singh and Penelope Lane
Where: The University Medical Hospital roof.
What: Relieving some stress by chucking junk into blobs.
When: (Backdated) June 3, early evening.
When Lita is told to take a break during her shift, she always takes it. She didn't used to, not at first. Back in the early days of the epidemic, there was always too much to do, too many people to see, too much sickness to heal, too much death to document. It was all hands on deck at all times and some of the doctors started to go stir crazy. When one put a gun in his mouth one day, mandatory breaks were put into affect. So now, Lita takes breaks.
Normally she'd head back to her room, maybe gets a few moments of sleep, but she's wound-up and strung out. Being contained to her small domicile would only make her feel claustrophobic right now, so she takes to the roof.
The administrations says the hospital roof is off-limits; to doctors, patients and people in the shelters alike. It wasn't as if it was dangerous; there weren't any walkers up there, it was simply tough to monitor people coming and going. However, there was the tiny issue of the gelatinous piles of infected goo that had rained down from the skies the other day. People from the Capitol had come by and cleared everything up up there but even so, Lita took care no one saw her sneak up the stairs.
It was early evening, only just starting to cool down from the oppressive heat of the Texas summer. Even after all these years smelling it, Lita never quite got used to the acrid stench of the scortched earth from the blistering agents. Still, it was better than being cooped up inside. She took a deep breath and exhaled in a sigh.
