Evan was rather drunk. There was a reasonably good excuse for how he had gotten so, too. The exam that had finished at one today, had been the last one Evan had to sit this year for his course, and that had been the same for most of the people on his degree, and also, oddly, Maths. So when they had left the room, all striding out once the clock had hit 1pm, with the exception of those finishing early, the obvious choice had been going straight to the pub. Two cocktail pitchers later (which Evan had shared with others, thank you very much), they had ended up at Tom’s house. Evan had literally no idea who Tom was, apart from the fact that he had just done his Maths exams. Erzebet knew him, though, which should have been an indication of nothing good but Evan was too pleased to be done with his exams to care. So Tom’s house it was.

What Tom’s house also was, was peppered with posters of Quake. It was somewhat odd to enter a house and be met with the face of emo-hedgehog, whose name Evan honestly didn’t know, on a poster. Whoever Tom’s housemates were, though, they had either had no exams, were celebrating the conclusion of them or genuinely just didn’t care, because the house was absolutely filled with people. Someone had handed Evan a drink as soon as he had walked through the door and currently he was having a discussion about the merits of examining Maths students with people he had neither ever met nor thought he’d ever meet again.

“Yes, but the principle of maths, any maths, whether it be magical or not, still is inherently linked to philosophy, so unless you are allowed a coursework based assessment, you can’t be expected to possibly illustrate a full understanding of a subject through doing formulas,” Evan said waving his half-empty glass (of what, he did not know) around. There was someone who gave a reply in agreement to Evan’s statement and someone who attempted to argue for the logistics of mathematical and statistical benefits of exams, which frankly were just ridiculous, but Evan was also trying to spot Erzebet so she could save him from the conversation leading nowhere, except he got distracted by another Quake poster.

It wasn’t terribly shocking that Evan got distracted by it either, not when the conversation involved the philosophical application of maths on actual maths and the poster involved a half-naked picture of Andrew winking at Evan. “Isn’t he really hot?” Someone said, drawing Evan’s attention back to the conversation, which clearly no longer was about maths and the reasons for examining you in them, and had turned to how hot Andrew looked half-naked. Which was very, but the answer Evan offered was mostly an a ‘I guess’. This, in return, earned Evan a what-felt-like a ten minute monologue about how Andrew was hot and was amazing and frankly, Evan knew that already.

“Oh, Evan doesn’t follow Quake,” Erzebet said from behind him, because Erzebet seemingly mostly only said things if they could irritate other people, and with that statement she had managed to irritate both Evan and the person telling him about how great Andrew was, so really, double kudos to her.

The grand speech about how attractive Andrew was somehow then turned into a speech about how amazing and talented Quake was and Evan really wasn’t sure whether he was nodding along with it because he agreed or because he felt so drunk it seemed easier than arguing over whether any one band could really be described as changing the meaning of Magic rock (which it literally could not and what the fuck were they even on about?!). Everything was sort of spinning and Evan felt really quite drunk. There were also more cups of what Evan was trying very hard not to identify as ‘mystery drinks’ passed to him and he should probably go home.

Except that going home was a very hard concept right now and whilst Evan knew he should, Erzebet was seemingly having a lot of fun and Evan knew no one else here who could get him to a Floo (or apparate him without costing an arm or a kidney). Which obviously meant that there was only one solution (there might’ve been more but Evan could only think of one) and that was to get Andrew to save Evan.

It took longer than Evan had anticipated to locate an owl, which perhaps he should have expected to be difficult, despite that it was a party filled with Magical folk. Once he did, though, Evan owled Andrew a note with the address to the house and a rather desperate ‘please come and get me, I’m very drunk’, that might have been misspelled, but Evan had tried very hard to make sure it wasn’t. Once the owl flew off, Evan returned to the party, taking a sip of a new drink handed to him before he could really think of not doing so.

Andrew had known that Evan's last exam was on Tuesday, but as much as he would have wanted to help him celebrate, that didn't change the fact that it was his first day back at work after a long weekend </i>and</i> he'd promised Ginny and Aisling he'd be there for Mary-Anne's audition. He'd done his best to follow Ginny's instructions to make Mary-Anne feel more comfortable, but it was hard when he didn't actually know the girl. Despite his efforts, she'd seemed nervous, but that was to be expected. Her audition hadn't taken that long, but it had been followed by a band discussion to share first impressions, and that had stretched into most of Quake sitting in the living room debating the merits and meaning of the Weird Sisters' latest enigmatic press release. By the time Evan's owl arrived, the conversation had gone off any describable course, and Andrew really wouldn't be missing anything by going to fetch him.

When he apparated into Tom's house, his first thought was to wonder if Evan was playing some kind of prank. The first thing he saw was one of Axel's early posters on the wall immediately in front of him. It was only the presence a truly impressive number of what Andrew took to be Merlin College students that convinced him otherwise. He had no doubt Evan could put something like this together if he really wanted, but probably not on the last day of exams. People would have better things to do. Andrew grabbed the nearest person and shouted over the music to if they knew where Evan was. When that didn't work, he tried charades but beyond conveying that Evan was about his height and had hair, Andrew wasn't convinced he was getting his point across.

He wandered through the house, occasionally asking those who literally bumped into him if they knew where Evan was. They either didn't, or didn't understand the question. The kitchen was a little quieter, but a girl who swore blind she was in all Evan's lectures pointed Andrew towards one of the bedrooms which, when he checked, contained no one who looked remotely like Evan, or was even the correct gender. It wasn't until he returned to the living room that Andrew was recognised. Suddenly, there were people all around him, pressing in, pointing to the poster Evan had noticed earlier - Andrew was quite pleased with that one, as it happened - and fumbling for a pen. Andrew signed it, trying and failing to contain a grin, and a few architecture books (why not?) before, finally, he managed to get everyone quiet enough to try again. "Evan," he repeated. "Potter. Architecture student. Probably told you an animal fact?" Blank faces all around. That had been a long shot, at a party. Andrew decided to try a new tack. "Erzebet?" She was the only one of Evan's friends Andrew could remember the name of, and he just hoped she was here. Even if she wasn't with Evan, she'd at least recognise his name and that would be a step in the right direction.

A drink was pressed into his hand while someone ran through all the Elizabeth's they knew, asking if any of those might be who Andrew was looking for. Someone else was insistently grabbing at his arm, trying to pull him further into the living room. Normally, Andrew would have stopped them but there was some slight chance they were trying to lead him to Erzebet and Andrew had just missed them saying so. "Oh my god!" someone shouted. "Quake!"

In retrospect, or rather if Evan had had enough sobriety left in him to have a retrospective thought, finding his journal and writing to Andrew might have been more efficient than an owl. As much as owls were quick (because Evan was still pretty sure they magicked about), they weren't so quick that Evan had almost forgotten that he had sent one by the time Andrew did get to the party. If he had kept it in mind better, Evan would have actually made the effort to find Andrew, or at least look out for his arrival. As it was, Evan had probably had at least another two drinks and a rather tedious discussion of whether the new Minister of Magic was going to bring the Irish nationalism to a more 'manageable' state (Evan wasn't sure he had enough energy to be properly annoyed about that particular statement).

"Did you seriously get your boyfriend to come over?" Erzebet asked from behind Evan and he turned so sharply to look at her that there was a moment he had to take for his head to stop feeling like it was spinning. "I would have gotten you to a Floo, you idiot," she didn't seem particularly annoyed even if the words sounded like it. If anything, Erzebet seemed rather amused about the whole thing. "He is literally getting mobbed. What a dick move to invite him to a house that is designed to trap a Quake member," Erzebet carried on as Evan stood to find Andrew (or perhaps the crowd around him). Yeah. She was right. Evan was an idiot. When he had owled Andrew he really had just wanted to go but also to see Andrew because Evan always wanted to see Andrew.

Erzebet sort of turned Evan so he could see the small crowd gathering around Andrew and he sighed. This really hadn't been a great plan. "Oh, sweet Rowena, have some fucking dignity, woman," Evan snapped at a girl he pushed out of his way towards Andrew who honestly appeared to be taking her shirt of so Andrew could... what? Sign her chest? People were very strange. Having battled (and it had sort of felt like that) his way to Andrew, Evan bumped his body into him, pushing Andrew backwards out of the room into the corridor that was much emptier. When Andrew's back bumped against the wall behind him, Evan decided, perhaps in a very drunken logic, that between his body and the wall was the perfect place to protect Andrew. At least people did see to have stopped trying to ask Andrew for an autograph, even, though, there were still plenty of looks.

"You're here," Evan said almost dumbly, because he had been the one to ask Andrew to come. Which then reminded him of Erzebet's words. "I'm so sorry," he almost exhaled, close enough to Andrew that the conversation could be private and only audible to them. "There's a guy here who I think wants to find a magical way that would allow him to bear your babies and I still made you come over. I mean, I'm pretty sure that even magically that is not possible to do, besides you shouldn't have babies with him anyway, he's got a really strange nose and that might be genetic and then you'd just have ugly babies and that would be really sad because you're far too pretty to have ugly babies and also it's probably a terrible idea to have babies with someone who is so into your band that their house is a weird shrine to it," Evan rambled almost without a pause to take a breath. He was definitely, definitely very drunk. But Andrew was there! That made everything better.

Honestly, it wasn't the first time Andrew had been asked to sign a less-than-modest body part. He was happy to sign arms, if there was nothing else available, but did his best to draw the line at anything that required the removal of clothing. Usually. There'd been a few exceptions. Mostly guys Andrew was interested in getting out of their clothes for other reasons. He was a rockstar, not a saint. So he declining, with rather more grace, when Evan suddenly crashed into him, knocking Andrew bodily against a wall with more force than Evan probably realised. "Ow," Andrew complained, but it wasn't really all that bad - and at least he was out of the crowd now. He hooked a finger through Evan's beltloop to make sure he didn't disappear off anywhere, now Andrew had found him. "There you are," he said, smiling. "Happy freedom from exams." Honestly, Andrew was probably as excited about exams being over as Evan was, or at least pretty close. Even with his weekend in New York, it had felt like forever.

"It's alright," he assured Evan, waving aside his apology. "Peril of the job. Or perk." Andrew wasn't going to lie - he liked the attention, especially at gigs or other official band events. He could do without it when he was just buying a pint of milk, or trying to collect his drunken not-boyfriend from a party, but it didn't bother him as much as he knew it did some of the others. He did both wrinkle his nose in disgust and laugh when Evan talked about some stranger who apparently wanted his babies. "Well, I can't have ugly babies," Andrew teased. "That's just not on." The idea of having any babies at all was one Andrew didn't really know where he stood on. He got one well with his students, and had yet to meet a kid he didn't like, but being responsible for one fulltime was a very different prospect.

People were definitely still looking, but Andrew barely noticed them now he had Evan to focus on. Which is why, without thinking about potential consequences or further pictures in the Daily Prophet, he leaned in and kissed him. He tasted like booze, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. "So do you want to go home, or celebrate some more?" he asked, when he pulled back. Obviously, Tom's house probably wasn't the best place for Andrew to try and celebrate without being mobbed, but if Evan wasn't ready to go home then Andrew would make the best of it.

Evan certainly didn't think that all the attention was a perk, but then, Evan didn't like attention, it made him uncomfortable and awkward. Andrew wasn't like that, Evan knew that. It didn't bother him, not unless he was expected to be the centre of attention, too, and honestly, Evan was pretty sure Andrew was more than happy to be it for both of them. Still, Evan did scrunch up his nose briefly at the thought. Even if Andrew didn't mind, Evan still thought that perhaps he should have realised. But obviously it was too late now and Andrew was here. As much as Evan did feel bad for asking him to come over, Evan was also glad because Andrew was here.

And then Andrew was kissing him and that was even better. Evan leaned his body into Andrew's, partially because it was nice but also rather a lot because Evan needed the physical support so his head would stop spinning. When Andrew pulled back, Evan blinked before realising that Andrew was speaking. Evan had wanted to go home, he still did but now Andrew was here so he probably didn't need to go home. "Did you want to stay?" Evan asked with a frown, looking around them. There were still people watching them which made Evan's frown deepen. It felt like being on a display and Evan really didn't see the appeal but Andrew had called it a perk, so maybe he would want to stay? Evan could probably--well. He wasn't sure whether he wanted to go back to discussing the potential impact of the new Ministry of Magic and not be with Andrew when Andrew was right there.

"We could walk?" Evan offered glancing over at the door. "I could probably use some fresh air," he added more for his own rather than Andrew's benefit. There was definitely too much alcohol in Evan's body and he kept feeling fine and then not repeatedly. Which as kind of nausea inducing in it's own right. "Or we can stay?" Evan offered again. He didn't want to make Andrew leave if he didn't want to. "But if we stay you should know there's a cardboard cut-out of you in one of the bathrooms upstairs. I don't know what they do with it or why it's there but it's a bit distressing when you're trying to take a piss," Evan said instead, thinking back of the half-yelp he had given when he had spotted the said cut-out.

"A walk sounds good," Andrew agreed, mostly because if Evan felt like he needed fresh air than trying to apparate or floo home was probably the last thing he needed. He laughed, then quickly transitioned to his best dramatic pout. "In the bathroom?" he whined, hands settling on Evan's hips. "What? I don't deserve to be in the kitchen, at least?" It was terribly unglamorous. On the other hand, Andrew did spend quite a long time in the bathroom, specifically in front of the mirror. Still, it seemed unlikely that Evan's uni friends would know that, so Andrew was going to stick to being (mock) insulted. "We should rescue me," he announced, with a nod. Then, glancing at Evan, remembered that Evan was probably too drunk for adventures of moving cardboard Quake members from one place to another. "Not right now," he amended. "Right now, we should get you outside. Did you bring a coat or anything?"

Once they'd collected as many of Evan's personal effects as they could find, Andrew wrapped an arm around his waist and helped steer him towards a door. "I have no idea where we are," he said, once they'd left the crowded house behind. "Beyond 'Cambridge, somewhere'. It's a nice night, though." It was, no rain and no clouds and a fairly bright moon. There weren't as many stars as they would have been able to see in Hogsmeade, but Andrew didn't spend enough time stargazing to really notice a difference. "So how was your exam?" he asked. "And how's freedom?" He couldn't help smiling, weirdly pleased that he had been Evan's choice to come rescue him. It was good to be a part of his celebration, even if it was only a small part.

"What's the plan for tomorrow?" Andrew, sadly, would have to work. "We could do something in the evening? Go to the cinema, maybe. Didn't you say you want to go clubbing?" On second thoughts, they should probably leave that a few days, at least. "I've got our adventure all planned for next week, so maybe just something casual." Really, Andrew would be happy just to lounge around with Evan eating all the American sweets he'd brought home.

Evan was going to point out to Andrew that actually he didn't think that the cut-out was in the bathroom because the people living in the house didn't like him. If anything, Evan was rather convinced that the reason the cardboard!Andrew was in the bathroom was because they did things to it. As much as Evan agreed that maybe they should have rescued it, he also wasn't too sure what they'd do with it, sine Evan already had a full-sized version of Andrew and he definitely preferred his to the one the house had. This version was much better because it had come to fetch Evan from a house party and was making sure Evan got his coat before leaving.

It didn't take long to locate Evan's possessions and once they were out of the house, Evan took a deep breath. A walk really probably would be good, the fresh air already made his head spin less. Reaching out, Evan took Andrew's hand, linking their fingers together as they walked in the chilly night's air. They were in Cambridge. Quite central Cambridge. It was strange that houses owned or rented by magical folk just blended in between Cambridge's oldest buildings, seamlessly hiding from Muggle eyes. They were near the King's College Chapel, so Evan slowly lead them towards it. "So many words," he said almost in wonder listening to Andrew talk. There really were a lot of words but there was also an excitement to them, an excitement of spending time with Evan and that shot a very pleased feeling through Evan's body. Andrew sounded excited at spending time with Evan.

"The exam was fine, I think? Like I don't get the marks until June but I'm sure it's fine," Evan replied. "And freedom is quite drunken," he added with a small smile, before tugging on Andrew's hand so he could pull him in closer as Evan bumped his shoulder against Andrew's. "As for tomorrow," Evan added. "I mostly plan to just be hungover as fuck," he admitted before making a face. "Ugh, I think I need to take Jim for a walk, he's been really irked at how little time I've had for him in the last two weeks. Or maybe at how weirdly I've slept since it means that he couldn't just stare at me with his creepy eyes," Evan rambled almost forgetting where he was going with it. Oh, yes. Tomorrow and doing things.

"I said I was interested in what clubbing was like," Evan clarified because he wasn't sure whether 'want' was the correct word. "But it's Wednesday tomorrow? Do people go clubbing on a Wednesday?" Not that Evan thought he was going to be in any state to do any partying tomorrow. "Cinema might be nice," Evan added before looking at Andrew sharply when he mentioned an adventure. The last two weeks had been all about studying and Evan really did want to go on an adventure. Especially if that adventure involved Andrew. "I'm excited," Evan informed Andrew. "It's my first adventure of the summer!" He announced before frowning slightly.

Summers weren't usually very good times for Evan because he didn't have anything to do, and when Evan didn't have anything to do he got bored. But now there was Andrew and surely that would mean that it would be harder for Evan to get bored? "I've been trying to decide what to do over summer because I know I need like something to do, right? So I have books and all but I need a thing," Evan essentially narrated the inside of his head right now, not paying a great deal attention to the words or the grammar. "So I think I might sign on for cooking classes because Ron was making soup the other day and I didn't know soup started out dry?" Evan was still a bit suspicious about it so he sent Andrew a quizzical look just in case it turned out that Evan had been right. It didn't seem likely. "Learning how to cook could be a thing but I might need more things, I haven't decided what those things will be," Evan said and finally paused to catch his breath.

Andrew chuckled at Evan's comment, squeezing his hand. "Too many?" He hadn't seen Evan drunk before, and definitely not while Andrew had been sober. He could be quieter, though he did feel like he had a lot to say, a lot to update Evan on that he'd missed out on while he'd been studying. It wasn't as if they hadn't talked, but Andrew had made a concerted effort to not bother Evan with normal, mundane things. But now that Evan's exams were over, there was no reason to prioritise conversation and Andrew was glad to be able to just talk about anything again. He was just as interesting in hearing what Evan had to say, and he smiled at Evan's ramblings about Jim. "You'd probably know if the exam had gone badly," he added. Andrew certainly hadn't been in any suspense waiting for his History of Magic result - he'd known it had gone badly almost before he'd seen the exam paper. "So fine is good." Maybe at some point Andrew should have asked how Evan usually did in exams, it would have meant he could be less guarded in his assurances that all would be well.

"Students go clubbing any night," he said. "You've really never been?" Maybe Cambridge was different, Andrew could certainly believe that, but he'd met enough students at other muggle universities to consider it a bit of a surprise that Evan had never gone - especially if he was curious about it. "Most student nights should still let me in," he mused. "I might have to pay a bit more, but that's okay." He had a few clubs already in mind, places he'd been before, where he trusted the music to be good. Clubbing could wait, though. Especially as Evan did have all summer. Andrew grinned, exceedingly pleased with his planned adventure. "You should be. I think you'll really like it." Unlike the sweet factory, there was every chance Evan had actually been to an aquarium before, but either way there would be fish and turtles and sharks and Andrew was pretty sure that would make Evan happy. "Maybe not as much as Georgia, though." He smirked, remembering just how excited Evan had been about the caves and the museum.

Andrew had never personally made soup, except the kind that came in a tin, so he shrugged. "Wouldn't it depend what kind of soup?" Most of the kinds of soup he could think of did include dry ingredients though - carrot and corriander, potato and leek, smoked haddock. "What kinds of things did you do last summer?" Andrew asked, curious. He was happy to help Evan think of things, but he might need more guidance. "You could volunteer somewhere. Backpack. Does it have to be learning things?"

"No, not too many, just many," Evan said with a shake of his head (which was a pretty bad idea because it made the spinning slightly come back). "You can say all the words," he assured giving Andrew's hand a squeeze. It hadn't been a complaint, more of an observation. Evan wanted hear everything Andrew had to say, whatever it was. At Andrew's comment how Evan would probably know if the exam had gone badly, Evan looked at him almost scandalised. "I have never had a bad exam," he told Andrew seriously. Evan didn't even know what the feeling of dread that you had done badly in an exam felt like. He studied as much as he did to do exceptionally, but Evan was pretty sure that even if he studied only about an hour before the exam he'd still do well enough, except that was obviously unacceptable.

When Evan had thought about clubbing he hadn't really considered going to the Students Union as clubbing. "The Students Union smells like vomit, I'm not going there," Evan said with a frown. "I was more thinking places that have, you know, bright lights and stages and drugs, not horny first years who get so drunk they can't walk home," which perhaps, right now was a bit rich coming from Evan seeing how he was very drunk but he was still managing to walk just fine. And really, surely, the spinning would go away sooner or later right?

"Of course, I'll like it," Evan agreed. When it came to surprises, or more specifically, surprised organised by Andrew, Evan had no doubt that he'd enjoy whatever it was. Andrew seemed to always know what sort of things Evan would enjoy and that was really nice. Evan hoped that things he picked for them to do made Andrew feel the same way. He'd never heard objections, at least, so maybe that was safe to assume as true?

At Andrew's question of whether it would or would not depend on what sort of soup it would be Evan's eyes widened. He hadn't considered complexities of soup. "I really hope not," he said honestly. Evan surely couldn't learn all the ways you made soup? Would he be expected to learn all the ways to make soup? What if he couldn't? A frown appeared on Evan's face as he pondered the soup conundrum and he almost missed Andrew's next question.

"Oh," Evan said with a shrug. "I built a third floor for Daisy's treehouse. It's got two bedrooms and a bathroom and I had to paint and carpet them and figure out how to do plumbing which took me like half a summer because plumbing is really complex? Well, it's really complex when there is no sewage system anywhere near by so I had to design a septic tank that and then I realised that the other two toilets had to be connected to it, too, and then I had to take out the wall on the second floor to reach the first connection and then the living room on the ground floor flooded so I had to redo that," Evan narrated thinking through the way the house (because, really, it was a house) was laid out. It seemed to constantly be a work in progress but Evan had high hopes that one day it'd all make sense and he would've build Daisy a proper house (even if he had started it age thirteen).

Glancing over at Andrew as they walked, Evan frowned again. "What was the question?" Because he was sure there had been something but then he had started thinking about Daisy's tree house and. "Oh, summer. Yeah, I can't do that this year because building a house is really expensive?" Which was the main setback Evan was experiencing with the project. He had done the kitchen for Daisy's birthday but it still needed so much work and Evan quite honestly just couldn't afford the materials it needed.

"That might take a while," Andrew teased, "and I'm not sure I know all the words." Actually, Andrew was absolutely sure Evan knew more of the words than he did, though there were probably some words Andrew knew and Evan didn't (glissando and pentatonic, for example). Learning that Evan hadn't had a bad exam didn't surprise Andrew very much and he pressed a quick kiss to Evan's temple in apology for implying otherwise. "Then it's not going to start now," he said, confident in Evan's success. He certainly hadn't skimped on studying.

Andrew shook his head, pausing at a junction to let Evan decide which direction they would take. "I can take you somewhere a bit better than a Students Union," he promised. "I am in a rock band, after all, I've got an image to keep up." Actually, Andrew hadn't been clubbing in ages. Not since before he'd met Evan. Which was a little expected, as he didn't need to pull strangers anymore, but also a little surprising because he did like the dancing and the music as well as the opportunity for sex. "It'll be good. I just need to decide where, and what night. Unless you want options?" So far, Evan had proved perfectly happy to let Andrew plan activities, but since this wasn't a surprise Andrew could actually involve him in the decisions.

"I think it probably does?" Andrew was only guessing. "Things like tomatoes are already pretty wet inside, so I guess you just squash them up a bit and add some cream." He noticed Evan's frown, and quickly added, "I'm sure they'll teach you things other than soup. Are you going to pick a certain kind of cookery or just basics?" Again, there were probably too many types of food to learn them all in one summer. It hadn't occurred to Andrew that Evan might be worried about not being able to. As far as he was concerned, cookery was a lot easier than architecture and he'd never had trouble following basic recipes, so the idea Evan might not be able to was clearly ridiculous.

Andrew leaned in to Evan, pausing while they waited for some lights to change. "Daisy's tree house has three floors?" Andrew had assumed the tree house was - well - a normal tree house. "And plumbing?" He grinned, shaking his head slightly. "You're really amazing, you know?" In a way, it shouldn't have surprised him. Evan had, after all, made the model castle, and the blanket fort tent. It was still impressive though. Even without having seen the treehouse, Andrew was suddenly picturing something a lot more Evan-like. "I don't know what you're going to do that's going to keep you as busy as that." Andrew frowned, because he would really have liked to be able to suggest something. "But can you do something where I can come hang out with you at weekends?" Before this conversation, all Andrew had known about Daisy's tree house was that it existed and that it was secret. He'd really rather Evan have a project that didn't have to be kept secret from him, if he was going to spend all summer on it.

When they came to a junction, Evan pulled Andrew towards the left as the road would lead them to a park. It was a nice park but it would also be an okay place to apparate from since it was hardly a busy place this late in the night. "No," Evan shook his head when Andrew asked if he wanted options for wherever they went clubbing to. "I trust your choices," he added honestly but rather absent-mindedly, not really giving a great deal of thought to whatever was coming out of his mouth. The alcohol was doing something odd to Evan's stomach and all the lights around them looked really bright, which was quite distracting.

"Squishy tomatoes and cream sound awful," Evan commented looking at Andrew the same way he had looked at Ron when Ron had planned to put two and half vegetables in his soup. "Basic, I suppose," he replied to the second part. Evan hadn't really thought about doing like country-specific classes but now that Andrew mentioned it, that sounded quite interesting. Soups of the nations. "I'm not sure what the basics are though," Evan admitted. "Like I can boil water so that's pretty basic, yeah? But then to boil a potato or and egg you need to know like for how long they should be in the pot and then what if you want mash that's like extra potato-water time, I guess. Or less? Who knows? Do you think I need to read a physics book?" Evan asked. How did potatoes even cook?

Evan was about to say how Daisy's tree house technically was meant to have four floors but Evan couldn't decide what the best access route to the top floor would be or what sort of material he should use that wouldn't clash with the magic on the third floor when Andrew said that Evan was amazing. Evan didn't think he was particularly amazing, not when he had flooded the living room so much he had had to change the whole floor. Maybe if he had managed to straight out set up the third floor, then sure, but there had been so much water that Evan had had to use three different drying charms to get rid of it. "Obviously," Evan confirmed. Sure, Andrew wouldn't be able to visit the three house but Evan would always make time for him. "Whenever you want," he added.

The park, as Evan had suspected was empty, which was fine by him. "I'm really glad you came to rescue me," he commented, pausing briefly so he could lean in and brush a kiss against Andrew's cheek. "Last year after exams we ended up in this old church on the outskirts of Cambridge for a rave and it was awful. Have you ever been to a rave organised by Higher Potions students? The drinks there were the most elaborate thing anyone had ever seen and were so potent that I can't remember half of the night but at one point someone rode in on a horse?" The memory of it was slightly clearer now that Evan was drunk but it still didn't make a great deal of sense. "At least this party only had a weird Quake-obsession," Evan added thoughtfully, before looking at Andrew seriously. "I mean, you probably could've ridden in on a a horse," he said.

Andrew nodded, to concede that squashy tomatoes and cream did sound awful. "But then it becomes cream of tomato soup. I assume." Honestly, Andrew didn't have the least idea how to make cream of anything soup, but he was guessing cream was involved at some stage in the process. "Risotto's just dry rice and wine and chicken and garlic until you cook it." And other things, but an entire recital of one of the few recipes Andrew had memorised really didn't seem necessary. Andrew hadn't actually made Evan his risotto yet, just because it was a bit fancier than he usually bothered with on a day-to-day basis. Listening to Evan's problem with cooking, Andrew wasn't really sure what the problem actually was. "Well that's what you need a cookbook for," he said, unable to help sounding like he thought this was a pretty obvious solution. "It tells you how long to boil the potato for, and what to add when you mash it. You probably want a magical cookbook, though, because mum gave me our spare Delia Smith and it's not great." Why they even had a spare Delia Smith cookbook, Andrew didn't know, but it had been bestowed on him when he moved out. "I mean, it works, but only if you already know how to cook the magical way." On leaving Hogwarts, Andrew hadn't and so the book had gone unused for six months while one of his first flatmates taught him the basics.

He smiled when Evan confirmed that 'obviously' he would want to hang out with Andrew. "I'm sure I can think of more adventures, too," he promised. "Next week's surprise and clubbing, that's two. How many weeks are you off?" One adventure a week might be a bit ambitious, especially as Quake would have gigs some weekends. Still, it would give them a number to aim for. "We could go to Thorpe Park." He'd quite wanted to take Evan when Quake had gone, but had resisted. Now, however, they could go just the two of them. There, three already, he was clearly very good at this planning adventures thing.

When Evan leaned in to kiss him, Andrew pressed a hand to the small of his back to keep him there. "Of course." There had been no question of not rescuing Evan. Even if Andrew had been busier than hanging out with Quake, he'd have tried to come. Unsurprisingly, Andrew hadn't ever been to a rave organised by Higher Potions students. Evan was pretty much the only person Andrew knew who'd gone into higher magical education. But he grinned anyway. "I tried to find a horse," he said, doing his best to keep his expression very serious. "But I could only find a pony and obviously that would be too silly."

"So what you're saying is," Evan paused slightly. "Food's just shit thrown together and cooked?" He established almost sarcastically. "I mean, I think I had gathered at least that much myself," Evan added. That was what Andrew was essentially saying, wasn't it? As for cookbooks, Evan didn't trust them. Cookbooks came with nice pictures and logical descriptions and yet Evan still somehow had managed to set his mum's kitchen on fire when trying to make mac and cheese. "Who the fuck is Delia Smith?" Evan asked confused before raising his hand in a small wave. "That's not a serious question, please don't tell me about people who have written cookbooks," because frankly, that seemed like a rather dull conversation. "That's a good advice though," Evan added in regards to how to cook the magical way. He hadn't really thought about it in those terms so hopefully he'd remember this conversation when he was actually looking up classes he could take.

When Andrew assured Evan that he could think of more adventures, Evan smiled. He, firstly, had no doubt that Andrew could, but also, secondly, he knew that whatever Andrew came up with would be great and thirdly, it was really very pleasing that Andrew clearly wanted to come up with adventures for the two of them. "I can find us adventures, too, you know," Evan teased. He didn't think he had done too badly so far, but now he was trying to think of whether Andrew had thought up most of them. Maybe? Evan really wasn't too sure and it was very confusing to figure out whether it was important that he came up with equal amount of adventures. "I'm off until the end of September," Evan added in almost disgust. The fact that uni gave him four months off genuinely angered Evan. It was a massive waste of time. "That's like seventeen weeks," he added frowning as he did the maths in his head.

There was a genuine oooh from Evan when Andrew mentioned going to Thorpe Park. Evan loved fair grounds but he didn't have enough time to say as much before Andrew pulled him closer and Evan got distracted by that instead. "I'm sure that--" Except whatever it was that Evan was sure about disappeared in the almost instant nausea Evan felt. He took a good few steps away from Andrew, frowning deeply before being thoroughly sick in a bush.

Once the vomiting was over (and Evan genuinely felt slightly better for having been sick, even if that in itself wasn't a great experience), he stood still for a moment, hands on his thighs, body slightly bent forward, as Evan tried to establish whether he'd have to be sick again. When he decided on the answer being in negative, Evan looked over at Andrew. "And they say romance is dead," he noted before wiping his mouth with his sleeve.

"Basically," Andrew agreed with a slight shrug. He supposed he'd been lucky in that cooking had come fairly easily to him, at least the amount of it he knew. He could general substitute main ingredients and have it work out and he didn't actually need to rely on a cookbook anymore for most of the basics. He laughed when Evan declined to learn the secrets of Delia Smith. "I couldn't if I wanted to," he said. Beyond what she looked like and that she wrote cookbooks, Andrew didn't know much about her. He could talk about the cookbook itself, but not actually about the woman who'd written it. He smiled, pleased to have been at least a little helpful.

When Evan mentioned he could find adventures too, Andrew's smile widened. "Two heads are definitely better than one." After all, Evan had come up with the sparklers, and the Chinese lanterns, and those had been two of the best adventures, as far as Andrew was concerned. "Seventeen's quite a lot, but I think we can do it." Especially if some of them could be smaller adventures, like going paddling at the beach or something. It was a lot of time, but Andrew had no reason to be annoyed about it. "I've got some holiday to take," he mused, "and only about half my students want lessons over the holidays." So they could definitely fit some larger adventures in as well. Maybe not another trip abroad, but something overnight would be easy enough.

Andrew frowned when Evan pulled away, but before he had time to ask what was wrong, it became very obvious. Andrew was only mildly concerned, and he'd been with enough drunk people to know he was best of keeping his distance and looking away so as not to damage Evan's pride too much. He glanced back as Evan started talking, and laughed. "How do you make throwing up so adorable?" he teased. "I can't kiss you now, you're gross." He checked his pockets for mints, but came up empty. "Maybe we should sit down before we try to apparate, otherwise you'll just throw up in the house." Actually, maybe Andrew should plan to apparate outside Panquake House.

"You are definitely biased," Evan informed Andrew as he stood up. There was nothing adorable at Evan being sick in a bush, he was really quite sure of that. Sitting down, though, that sounded like a good idea, so Evan nodded, walking towards the nearest bench, sighing quite happily at the cold wood against his back. "I can make a schedule," Evan said, picking up the conversation as if there hadn't been an interlude of him being sick in the middle. "For the adventures," he clarified looking at Andrew. "Seventeen isn't that many, especially for such top class adventurers as us," Evan added somewhat teasingly, because they were good at adventures.

Evan's mouth felt dry and he scrunched his nose up in distaste. Water and brushing his teeth would really be pretty great at the moment. "Can we apparate now?" He asked Andrew. Personally, Evan felt fine, but then, he had, also, felt fine just moments before being sick in a bush, so perhaps he wasn't the best person to judge his own well-being. But Andrew was here! Because Andrew was an excellent not-boyfriend and had come to Evan's rescue. "I'd really like to be in bed right now," Evan admitted, because sleep sounded amazing right about now.

Andrew could only nod at that. He was biased, but he really didn't object to it at all. "A schedule would be good," he agreed. Personally, he tended to do quite a lot of things on the spur of the moment, and he expected they'd do some of that this summer as well. "We should make a list." He was teasing as much as he was serious. They probably should make a list, but Andrew also knew he'd never bother if it weren't for Evan. "Would you like to come to a gig? I don't know if that would really be an adventure for us, since I'll be busy..." Still, Evan might like it. There'd be a stage and lights and lots of magical lighting effects to keep him interested.

Andrew had just draped his arm across Evan's shoulders when Evan asked if they could leave. "I don't know," he said. "Are you going to be sick again?" Honestly, Evan probably couldn't answer that accurately, and being in bed did sound pretty good, on the condition that Evan was quite finished throwing up. There was probably some magical way to ensure Evan wasn't sick - a potion, or something - but Andrew didn't know what it might be, so he supposed they'd just have to live with it.

Evan was really quite good with lists, so he was sure they could do one for adventures. He was also pretty good at schedules but maybe that would risk it becoming an obligation rather than a pleasant activity and Evan didn't want that to happen, so he'd have to think about scheduling when he was less drunk to make any reasonable decisions. "I'd like to see you play," Evan confirmed. It was pretty strange, probably, that they had been not-dating for over three months and Evan was still yet to see a Quake concert. Did that make him a bad not-boyfriend? He suspected that it did. But it wasn't like Evan didn't want to, it just hadn't really... happened, yet.

"I'm not going to be sick," Evan said sounding a lot like a petulant child as he leaned into Andrew when his arm draped across Evan's shoulder. He could actually promise not to be sick again but Evan didn't feel like that was going to happen (again). "I just want to brush my teeth and wear pyjamas and have blankets and be able to kiss you," he said with a soft sigh. All those things sounded really pleasant right about now (most of them sounded really pleasant always). "Come on," Evan urged, standing up and taking Andrew's hand so he could pull him up as well. "Take me home," he instructed. "I promise to repay in kind," he added with a small grin. Whether that was 'and not be sick' or 'and give you a blowjob' even Evan wasn't too sure about.

It hadn't occurred to Andrew that Evan not having been to a big might make him a bad not-boyfriend, he'd offered because he thought Evan might enjoy it and not out of any particular need to have Evan come watch. He'd already made Evan listen to the record of the song Andrew was most proud of writing, which mattered more to him than Evan seeing a live performance. Still, since Evan was agreeing Andrew did think it would be nice to have him there. "Great. We'll add it to the list." There would be plenty of gigs to choose from, but Andrew thought something at a bigger venue would probably be most interesting.

Andrew wasn't too sure, but he stood when Evan pulled him up and slid his wand out. "I see you've got your priorities in order," he teased, not at all genuinely offended. "I like how I come after pyjamas." He kept hold of Evan's hand and apparated them to a spot in Panquake House's front garden, where it wouldn't matter too much if Evan were sick. "Alright?" he asked, glancing over to see if Evan was ready to go inside.

"Pyjamas are very important," Evan informed Andrew just before they apparated away and whilst it didn't make his stomach turn, it did take Evan a moment before he could reply. "Yes," he said finally, with a nod. He really didn't feel too badly, so that was pretty great. "Besides," he said instead. "The list isn't in the order of priority, it's in the order of practicality. Have to brush teeth before I can change into pyjamas and have to get into pyjamas before I can get in the bed. I guess I could kiss you before getting in the bed but once I'm in the bed I won't have to do anything other than kiss you, but slotting you between pyjamas and bed would just be impractical," Evan explained only stopping when he ran out of breath.

Sober!Evan would have been very proud of the fact that drunk!Evan remembered to be extra quiet when him and Andrew entered the house, as not to wake any of his flatmates if they were sleeping. As Evan's list had indicated, he did start with brushing his teeth, being sick certainly was a good reason for that to be the first on his list of actions. Once returning from the bathroom, Evan starter pulling his clothes off before he had even properly gotten back to Andrew's bedroom. "Pyjamas, bed, kissing," he repeated determinedly. Stumbling out of his trousers, Evan bumped into Andrew. "I could be convinced to by-pass the pyjamas, I suppose," he informed Andrew with a rather put on frown.
