Welcome to this month's plot post!
Please take the time to look through this month's upcoming events to see if anything strikes you or your character's fancy. You can sign up by commenting on this post with the event's DATE and the CHARACTER #. If you have one or two characters, please only reserve 1 space. If you have three or more you may reserve 2 spaces. Reserved spaces are on a first come, first served basis. After everyone has been given a chance to comment we will open any available spaces to all players. Enjoy!
Outside York, in Little Hangleton there is a series of suspicious deaths. All victims are muggles, but there is no natural or magical cause of death to explain what happened. Witnesses report seeing a 'dark shadow' and some 'bright lights,' but cannot find any reasonable explanation. [Gideon Prewett] and [Character 2] are the first to arrive on the scene and get into an argument as to which Department/Office has jurisdiction over the case. [Iona Rivers] find something that doesn't quite line up with history. [Open to Members of the DMLE and DMAC only]
With a month since Cornelius Fudge announced his intention to retire, the deadline to register as a candidate is fast approaching. [Evan Potter] tries to register, but is informed that he/she is too young, though the regulations never specify an age restriction. As a result he/she is able to put in his/her name. [Primrose Dursley] receives an owl thanking him for registering with pertinent details… except he/she never registered. [Character 6] has registered, though everyone thinks it's a complete joke, but he/she is completely serious.
N.B. Your character is free to put his/her name in as a candidate even if you not put his/her name above.
Now in the BIL off season, contracts are coming due and teams are scouting new talent, especially with the best players from around the world in the country for the World's Cup. [Asher Spinnet] has let it been known to their management staff that they would like to be let out of their contract, but their current team is putting up a fight. [Gemma Higgs] is perfectly content where they are, but receives a notification of pending trade anyway. Free agent, [Anais Bolduc], enters into a bidding war between two teams.
N.B. Your character is free to move teams even if you do not put his/her name above.
Required attendance by all healers, mediwitches/wizards, and administrators, the Gala is open to members of the public who wish to support a good cause. This year the proceeds will be going to the Janus Thickey Ward. [Celia Woods] and [Axel King] arrive wearing the same outfit. Awkward. Getting a bit too sloshed and thinking that there isn't enough dancing going on, [Character 12] starts a conga line. Success may vary. While there is dancing, shmoozing, and a fair bit of politicking going on, apparently cloak check is the place to be. [Fleur Delacour] walks in on [Charlotte Wood] and [Draco Malfoy] during a private moment.
Well, someone certainly has a case of the Mondays. Or at least that's what it seems like when the Floo Network has a hiccup right in the middle of the morning commute. People are being sent to the wrong fireplaces. [Regulus Black] ends up in a stranger's kitchen, but somehow ends up getting invited to breakfast. Who is really going to turn down free bacon? [Bill Weasley] accidentally wakes someone up and gets hexed for his/her troubles. [Alice Longbottom] ends up in Penzance and decides to just make a holiday of it, owling in 'sick.'
Irish pride is at an all time high, just like it is every March, but especially more so with the Irish National Team playing in the World Cup. Now with the prospect of a new Minister, once again the issue of independence and forming an Irish Ministry is back at the forefront. [Peregrine] announces on the Wireless that he/she is in favour. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees and it devolves into a shouting match with [Character 20]. In Diagon Alley, the spirit of St. Patrick's Day is alive and well, too much for those who get caught in the middle of a protest and are charmed either complete orange ([Lee Jordan] and [Lydia Winters]) or green ([Phillipa Flint] and [Jessica Moran]). [Astoria Greengrass] ends up both colours. Don't worry! It should wear off in a day or two...
Discussion of rules, regulations, and punishments for the following school year, 2002-2003, are up for discussion. For instance, should the Forbidden Forest really be used for detentions? [Character 26] argues for community service in Hogsmeade instead. [Character 27], a member of the community, just wants a little bit more supervision of the students when they're in town, please.
Really, when will people learn to avoid Hogsmeade when students are allowed to visit the town? In the spirit of 'good fun' for St. Patrick's Day, a dorm full of Hufflepuffs buy out the whole selection of chocolate frogs at Honeydukes and set them all free down High Street. [Ashleigh Spinnet] ends up being some sort of frog magnet. Unfortunate because he/she doesn't really care for chocolate or frogs. It's much better for [Remus Lupin] who finds all the discarded chocolate frog cards, including the super rare one he/she has been looking for ages.
In an effort to add new features to the journals, the people behind these clever little books began to tinker with the spellwork on the master journal. Too bad they didn't check themselves before they wrecked themselves. Their 'improvement' to the system has disabled any and all warding systems. This only affects wards going forward and is not retroactive, thank Merlin. [Open to all characters, wards will be unavailable through the 26th]
WNN hosts all candidates for Minister of Magic for a live broadcast to discuss their stances on issues near and dear to the public's hearts. Leading up to the broadcast, listeners are invited to owl in their questions for each candidate to answer. Questions that are selected are from [Cedric Diggory], [Character 31], [Character 32], [Character 33], [Character 34], and [Character 35]. Just remember, these questions are prescreened for vulgarity and being on topic, so please choose your questions wisely!
To help support the The Moonlight Society, an advocate society for werewolves and vampires and wanted to offer her any support, up to and including legal representation from the Ministry or other parties, the Leaky Cauldron is supporting a Charity Pub Quiz! An individual's entry fee is 3 galleons and teams are assigned when participants arrive. [David Shafiq], [Hestia Jones], and [Character 38] for being members of the winning team each win a ticket to the the Quidditch World Cup final.
Contacts are coming up and trades are beginning to happen. Check the above plot post

Below is a table with the four countries of the British Isles.Because this month brings us St. Patrick's Day and an increased focus on national identity, we are highlighting narratives that have different groups interacting with one another.
This should be pretty straight-forward. A thread counts for a space if a character from that country is represented. You cannot double dip a thread to fill two spaces on the table, however two players can use the same thread to fill two different spots on their card. In addition, your character cannot be used to fill their country of origin's space.
Please link each thread/log (with at least two comments per player, including the starter) or narrative (at least 200 words) in the table and appropriately it with the !CHALLENGE tag.
You may combine this with the BINGO card challenges. If you answer another person's open thread you may also count this towards your own table.
