WHO: The Master and open
WHAT: Reminiscing
WHEN: November 7th, late evening.
WHERE: The streets of Red Oak.
Rating: nothing beyond a PG from the Master for now.
The Master was sulking. Oh he could admit it, as long as it was only to himself.
First his recent grand plan of stirring up problems for the Doctor by 'ringing the dinner bell on Earth' for aliens races was squelched before he could even start. It seemd whatever powers that be that were in charge wouldn't allow his tachyon pulse to travel much beyond the Earth's atmosphere, so no lovely new aliens to bother the Doctor and stir up chaos.
And then there was his lovely new tower. Well technically the building still had the name of Lexcorp on it but the Master planned to change that soon and have the place christened Master plaza... Or maybe not?
Nothing seemed to have any flavor to it any more. There was no thrill. There was no excitement.
Here he was saved at the last moment of burning his life force out against Rassilon to save, of all beings, the Doctor.
He was plucked from certain destruction and plopped down in a new world and there was no longer a drumbeat constantly beating inside his skull driving him mad and...
The Master was incredibly bored.
The Master couldn't even find it in himself to hate the Doctor any more. The thoughts that the Doctor had destroyed Gallifrey. Killed off their own race. Committing genocide on a level the old Master would have been in awe of... Stirred nothing inside him.
Finding out his own race had cursed him from childhood with that damnable drumbeat cured the Master of any lingering traces of nostalgia or regret the loss of his home would have caused.
And of course added to the new revelations that their entire home dimension was somehow destroyed? Hard to dredge up hatred for the Doctor for destroying Gallifrey when it turns out it was somehow destined to poof into non-existence along with everything else in that dimension anyway.
In horror the Master realized that he was actually contemplating settling down. Maybe actually taking a job as a teacher of science in some high school? Living life as a... *shudder* Human?
"No... No! I am the Master. Entire universe trembled at my name. I crushed worlds under my feet! I will not be ground under someone's heel now and made to be a good dog! I will either rule these humans or I will find a way to destroy them totally!" The Master ranted not knowing or caring that someone on the streets with him might hear.
