I was listening to my ipod this morning and found myself singing along to a song from an album that I just added the other day...

Hi everyone! Sorry it's taken me so long to post the second installment of the QAF music quiz. I'm glad to see that 17 of you took the quiz on the music from Season 1 and that you all did very well! It's still there so go play if you haven't already! I have to say, however, that the results of question #3 are somewhat disturbing:

Um, 4 people got this question wrong. Maybe you need to go watch the scene again and listen more closely? Make sure you turn the volume up so you can hear the moaning and grunting and heavy breathing music. Or maybe you were confused by the icon? Was it not clear which scene it was from? This is obviously not a comprehensive list of scenes or songs or hottest moments or anything like that. It's just the songs I like that I had icons to match. There is a definite Brian/Justin focus, but some other people will sneak in occasionally.

At work yesterday (I work in a bookstore) I hooked my ipod up to the store's sound system and I had my QAF mix playing. I just tell the people I work with that it's a random mix I made, not that it's specifically a QAF mix.

Admittedly, at least half of the songs in my QAF mix are techno, but there is a lot of other stuff in it too! But it seemed like almost every song that came on was a techno one... so my coworkers were teasing me about it. One just thought it was too early in the day for techno (he might have mentioned it making him want to go on a killing spree...) Another kept dancing (badly). Another said she felt like she should be doing wacky jumping jacks (which she did in fact do occasionally). Then she said:

"Or it feels like we're on the set of Queer as Folk!"

I almost died. They don't know anything about my QAF obsession and I'd like to keep it that way. Maybe next time I'll just put on my Sarah McLachlan and Norah Jones mix instead :P

I couldn't let the Emmett!love weekend go by without qaf_music getting in on the action!

Emmett loves to dance. And he's good at it too.

One of the first songs I fell in love with from QAF was "Beware of the Boys" by Punjabi MC. (Listen here.) I blame this entirely on Emmett and his mad dance skills.

Sooooo qaf_music hasn't been so exciting lately... I'll work on that...

I just had to pop in and say *OMG squeee!!!* my roommate is watching the Chicago Bulls vs. Sacramento Kings game on TV and they were totally just playing "Ready To Go" in the arena in Chicago!!! I could hear it through the TV.

Below the cut there are some visuals to help refresh your memory, just in case you don't remember in which scene "Ready To Go" plays. It is in episode 311 and the scene is more frequently referred to as futon!sex :)

a whole lot of my answertones were set to expire, so i decided to go on a hunt for QAF ones. Sadly I could only find 3, actually 4, but the sound quality of Lover's Spit was so atrocious that I canceled it.

The only others i could find were: Lover I Don't Have to Love, Don't Tell Me, and Poses. And I do love all three, but my answertones annoy my friends and family enough as it is, I can't have only 3 on rotation.

*pouts* anyone else out there have some qaf-inspired answertones?

Two things I want to know:

One, what is one of your favorite Brian/Justin sex songs from Queer as Folk? (Please note I'm NOT asking for a favorite sex scene... I'm curious about what songs you like or would like to see them fucking to. It does not have to be a song they DID fuck to.)

What is the best sex song NOT from QAF you'd like to see Brian and Justin fucking to?

When I think of dance music, I think of the thumpa thumpa. And yet ... first of all, my beloved Brian-worshipping fan girls, let us all acknowledge, no matter how we love him, that Brian cannot dance. Really. He can sort of hump Justin on the dance floor while music is playing, but dance? I say this with love, but it's kind of painful when he tries.

All his best moments are either true slow dances -- "Save the Last Dance for Me" in 122 and again in 202 -- or the ones where he and Justin are dancing to music only they can hear -- Pride, Cha Cha dance, "good cock, bad cock," Forever Young.



And yet I've never read a fic that had them dancing slow that I bought, even fics I otherwise love.

Do you think Brian and Justin would ever slow-dance again like they did at the prom? At a wedding or any kind of public event, can you imagine them, really, in character, coming from where they were in canon and slow-dancing together? How about alone, with no one to see?

If they'd gone through with their golden-gardenia-garnished wedding, would they have slow-danced at that?

A most roundabout post, but it's about music and QAF so at least it's not completely off topic...

I was listening to my ipod and the Bette Midler version of "Baby Mine" from the Beaches Soundtrack came on (listen here if you'd like).

That made me think of the version that Dumbo's mom sings to him in the Disney movie (listen and watch here, the song starts about a minute into the clip).

And that made me think of Brian singing that song to Gus, which happens in the short fic "Baby Mine" by Rena. The fic isn't fantastic, but it is still pretty good (and short) so I think it's worth reading. I always imagine it being set in episode 105 when Brian shows up at Lindsay and Mel's after ditching that asshole client at the hotel.


Anyway, that whole train of thought left me thinking about Brian and baby Gus and feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. I hope it makes you feel the same :)

I was just in the car and "The Dope Show" by Marilyn Manson came on the radio!!! (It's from the scene at Sap's party in 214.) I might have gotten a little excited... *OMGOMGOMG SQUEEEEEE!!!* I had a little party in my seat and turned the volume way up. Besides "Save the Last Dance For Me" I think it's the only QAF song I've ever actually heard on the radio (and usually StLDFM is the Michael Buble version not the Drifters version)! Eeeeee!!!

Yes, I should change my user name to "still icon-less". Anyway, even if I have said this before- the end of 306, Justin alone with his ring, Sola Sistim by Underworld-

The song is over 6 min. long, it isn't the words as much as the feel and the tone of the scene. So- when I'm mellow, I love to pull this one up.

Maybe someone has an icon of the close up of that last episode, that would be great! Then I just need to find out how to use it and credit them! If I knew how to link the song to this post I would have done that also. Happy Thanksgiving to all the U.S. friends!

You know that scene in 108 when Justin is in the loft listening to Moby? He's wearing Brian's shirt and singing along to a CD on his discman when Brian comes home? I'm really curious about what song Justin is listening to. I'm hoping there's a huge Moby fan in our midst who knows what it is!

This is the clip with Justin singing... which you should watch even if you've never listened to Moby in your life because it's still one of my favorite scenes :)
