The girls
Can we please go back to when the girls were happy? Or fast-forward to when they make up? :( I hate seeing them like this.
It's especially awkward when the other ladies bring up the Auerbach show, and Mel gets in a jab or two. Then the two of them start bickering in the kitchen.
I know we've said before how Mel is more pissed about Lindsay cheating with a guy than the cheating itself, and here in this scene that comes up again when Mel calls Lindsay's sexuality into question. Mel isn't only feeling betrayed because Lindsay slept with someone else, she feels like Lindsay betrayed their entire lifestyle and sexuality. It reminds me of when the two lesbian mothers she represented turned the case over to another lawyer; she sees them all as having a bond of sorts, and is totally betrayed by anyone who she feels has turned their back on that.
M: I know which team I play on. It's not a choice or a preference. It's who I am. It's who I've always been. A rug-muncher, a muff-diver, a cunt-lapper, a bull, a lezzie, a dyke! L: What do you think I am? M: Don't ask me to make up your mind for you. You have to do that all by yourself. L: I'm a lesbian. M: Not if you're having sex with a man, honey. And while I'm pregnant yet. I don't know which betrayal to never forgive you for first.
