Challenge 58 - chairs
Title: Struggling (Parts 4 - 6)
Author: Foreverbm
Timeline: 30 years in the future
Warnings: death references
A/N: Only I could possibly turn a challenge that was inspired by someone saying Justin!Chairs into something so fucking depressing as kata_ny reminds me often.
Condoms: 3 to Michael
He moved the pillow and blanket off the chair next to him so Michael could sit down. He watched as his father reached out for Ben’s hand, entwining his fingers with his; their wedding bands together. Every ten years they had renewed their vows, and he knew that Ben especially, had always hoped the day would come when they could make their marriage legal in their own country. It had never happened and now it was too late.
He wanted to say something to Michael, to somehow ease his pain, but he knew that no words would ever be enough.
He wondered if he should leave, give Michael time alone with Ben, and he made to stand but Michael’s hand reached out, grabbing his, pushing him into the chair.
Michael’s hand felt as cold as ice in his, and he squeezed it, receiving a slight smile from his father in response.
“Dad….”
Michael’s eyes met his, the pain showing in them ripping at his heart.
He would do anything for his father’s and now when he was needed he didn’t know what to do and it made him feel like shit.
“It’s ok Hunter” Michael’s voice interrupted his thoughts
He was sure surprise showed on his face at Michael’s words, as if he knew what he was thinking.
“I just wish there was something I could do……” his voice trailed off, tears blurring his eyes. He brushed them away hurriedly but knew they hadn’t gone unnoticed by Michael. He knew Michael had shed many of his own over the last week, his red rimmed eyes every morning attested to that. The nights must be the worst for him he thought. He knew he wouldn’t have left the room, forcing himself to stay awake as he sat in the chair.
