Notes: 2 drabbles
He sees him only one time. He’s on break from tour and catches an ad for a show of his work. The article calls him a “returning artist,” and he can’t help wondering if moving away meant moving on.
Ethan walks by the gallery the day before the show, and through the huge windows, he sees Justin for the first time since they broke up. He’s beautiful, his face serious and intent as he directs the placement of a painting.
He thinks about going in, surprising Justin. It would be different between them, better, now that they’ve both found success.

When I agreed to play an elf in the Liberty holiday play, I hoped no one would recognize me with the elf ears, silly hat and fake nose. I never imagined they would show up.
The last time I saw Justin he was screaming and throwing torn roses at me. Thank goodness the thorns missed my precious hands.
Now, he is here with “him.”
As I pick up my violin, I notice Brian toss a hundred dollar bill in the donation bucket. The two of them then disappear into the crowd, giggling like seven year olds. |
