It had been a long fucking night at the diner. Debbie's back hurt, her feet hurt, even her wig hurt. The thought of creeping upstairs to her snoring almost-husband didn't thrill her, either.
She opened the front door, and smelled popcorn. Emmett appeared from the kitchen, a big bowl, teapot and two mugs on a tray.
"Sit yourself down, Miss Debbie," he said. "'Some Like It Hot' is on the late show, and you and me are going to unwind together."
Debbie kicked off her shoes, curled up on the sofa, and let Emmett pour her a cup of tea. |
