Fathers & Sons
“But Grandpa says he doesn’t want a present.”
“When you grow up, you’ll realize that what Grandpa says and what Grandpa means are sometimes two different things.”
Thinking feverishly, Max asked his father, “Does that mean I don’t have to eat my vegetables?”
“No, that one he means.”
“He said Santa was the door greeter at the BigQ!”
“That one he didn’t mean,” Gus ground out.
“Grandpa said that GrandpoppyJ is a pain in his tushy.”
“Well, yes and no,” he hedged with a laugh. “That we’ll discuss that when you’re older.”
“Boy, Grandpa’s very confusing!”
“You have no idea, Maxie.” |

Title: It is the Season 32 - Words Are Cheap Author: rainbow1907 Prompt: December 27 - Words are cheap Beta: Many thanks to my wonderful beta LJ User buckeye5! All remaining mistakes are mine. Author's Note: Drabble Series for drabylon dollars!
Brian tousled Gus’ hair and put his arm around the boy’s shoulders.
“Let’s take a walk, sonny boy. You can tell me what’s been bothering you since you came here.”
They put on their boots, coats and scarves and went outside. After a while, Gus asked.
“Dad… when the baby’s born… can I still come visit you?”
Gently cupping Gus’ face, Brian looked deep into his eyes and said, “Listen to me, Gus. I know words are cheap but you have to believe this. I could never love anyone more than you. Maybe as much as you, but never more.” . . |
