"Bastard!" What, did he think? That refusing to give me a letter of reference would keep me from going to work for Kinnetik? Did he think that if I needed one, that I wouldn't go directly to Brian? I had worked for him long before Vance came into the picture. I can't wait to get back to working for Brian again. He may be a demanding, sarcastic, narcissistic pain in the ass, but you always know where you stand with him. He always shows his appreciation to a loyal employee, even if it isn't by fucking you in the bathroom. |

I'm not thinking of how numb my fingers are anymore, or of spicy marinara and melted cheese. I'm not even still reliving the joy of dancing with my new husband last night, or anticipating tonight. All I can focus on is keeping my bike right beside Brian's as we turn this last corner. I'm glad we are so close. I'm not sure how much further he can go. I'm almost as stubborn as he is though, so if he needs this to know he'll survive, he will finish. He'll do it on his own, but I'll be there beside him. |
