April 2nd, 2011: Now with More Trees
Who: Hotaru and Izumi.
What: Hotaru decides that a bird's eye view is required for understanding a map. Izumi probably decides she's an idiot. We'll see.
When: April 2nd, 5 PM
Where: In the central shopping district.
The half-Japanese had decided to use her map again. But this time? This time Hotaru had a way, way better idea than before. Silly mindless drones just looked at the map and figured out where they were with their feet on the ground; as if maps were that easy to read! They stumbled around, figuring out where they were by chancing across a street sign that matched one on their map. No. Such a useless, unwise method was beneath Hotaru. She realized that now.
Maps were mostly birds-eye view, sort of, so that's exactly what she was going to recreate. It was why she was ambling up a ridiculously large tree with thick branches that spread out widely and created shade for several benches circling it. Some people were stopping to stare at the blonde girl (was she giving foreigners a bad impression?) climbing the tree. So far, her plan was succeeding - she was fairly high up in the tree when she sat down on a branch that felt sturdy enough and pulled out her crumpled map, glancing at her surroundings and then the crinkled roads and landmarks.
This wouldn't work. She wasn't high enough for it to match the map enough. She knew she'd have to be flying for it to fully match a map, but surely if she climbed higher, she would discover a far more efficient way of figuring out where a person is? It could be good enough, looking down from a tall tree! She wanted to find a good supposedly haunted location soon and she hadn't managed to stumble upon one yet. Finding one before dark was best so that seeing it in the dark was her second time viewing the area.
