EXERCISE PART 2--NO READING AHEAD UNTIL PART 1 IS DONE

O.k. No bites on part one but I'll go ahead and post the second part of the exercise. If you remember in part 1 I asked you to draw a scene that included a house, the sun, water, a tree, and a snake. Now look at your picture carefully. By the way you don't have to be a great artist a Kindergartner can do it.

Take a look at your house and really admire it because this is you. Does it have a door to allow people in and out? Does it have windows so you can see from both sides; in to out and out to in? Is there a path to allow others to visit easily? Is it a big a roomy mansion or a small house tucked so as not be as noticed? Did you take pride in your house by drawing shutters or curtains? Do you feel your house accurately describes you?

Now look at your sun. This represents your father or as in my case father fiqures in my life. Is your sun big or small? How close to your house is it? Does it have any rays giving off warmth? Is it in the background out of the way or in the foreground where it has a prominent role?

How about the body of water you drew? This represents your mother. Where is it in relation to your house? Is it a large body of water like a lake where the water is flowing free? Is it small and still like a pond or even a puddle? Is it close to your house or even touching it? Is it far away and in the background?

The tree represents your intellect. Not your I.Q. just your intellect and how your intellect works in relation with the rest of you. Is the tree small or big? Does it have a lot of detail such as leaves and branches? Where is your tree?

Now we get to the snake. Where is your snake? Is it large and healthy looking or does it look like it needs to see a good vet? Where is it in your drawing? The snake represents your sexuality.

I hope you had fun with this exercise and were able to see how easily our minds translate things into symbols.
