| the beginning of the damned... | For many years, sorcery remained in the shadows in the kingdom of Elendale. It was a life that was whispered but never spoken, lived but in private, and condemned by the king. Sorcery was not as popular in most of the kingdom, not like it was in the small town of Graeyen. Graeyen served as the home of a small fraction of the kingdom's population, but it held the greatest power. The town had such an extensive history of magic, that its people were outraged when their Baron supported the king's condemnation.
The Baron, like most of the town, were fully aware of the existence of magic. It was a shock when he began imprisoning his closest friends, even sentencing them to death, and all to serve a king who knew nothing of Graeyen. Having no tolerance for death of their loved ones, several sorcerers gathered together and created a spell that would change everything. On one night, they unleashed wrath through magic and the family of the Baron were changed forever. They cursed the family to live in the night, to die in the sun and to thirst for blood. They would live in shadows as immortal beasts, a new breed. Magic would always reign in the town of Graeyen, but it would be forever known as the first home to the vampire. |
