New Frontiers: a nu!Trek rpg [18 Jan 2011|03:00am]

New Frontiers
a nu!Trek rpg

The year is 2259 and Captain James T. Kirk has recently embarked on his first long term space assignment commanding the U.S.S. Enterprise. Their ongoing mission is to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations and to boldly go where no one has gone before.

It's the same story we all know-- only different. The crew is younger, less experienced and their universe has been altered from what we knew. In other words: this isn't just your parent's fandom anymore. This is a bold new era for the characters we know and love.

So if you like good writing, fun adventures, crazy shenanigans or even just sci-fi in general, come check us out! We won't bite-- honest.

They called the generation following the Second World War: The Baby Boomers. They were supposed to make the world a better place, and free from tyranny. However, like most things in this world no matter how hard you try, bad things happen. The Second War came and went, destroying just about everything in its path. Heroes rose, villains fell, sacrifices were made in the name of justice. Following the fall of the Dark Lord, and the Second War it was only natural that the trend from the past continue. Those who had survived carried on, to pass the torch down to their children, a new generation that seemed to spring out of the ashes.

This new generation, the Boomer Generation as they're now being called, was raised with the hope that they'd be able to create a new world, a better one, one that wouldn't fail into the habits of their parents generation. However, this can be said for both sides. For the children of the defeated have been growing with their own ideas to correct their sides own flaws, becoming more powerful everyday and the time is growing closer to unleashing their plan on the world...

Most Wanted: Heath Davies, Bridget Finnigan, Violet Flint, Blair Longbottom, Scorpius Malfoy, Marc Montague, Lorcan Scamander, Fiona Smith, Keir Smith, Weasleys, Percival Zabini. Many characters available!

Time and space are ultimate dividing forces that separate generations of witches and wizards, but soon that divide will be breached. There have been cracks before, but one wizard will wrench it open completely. Named the Collector, he sits in his own empty world that he controls and manipulates as he desires. However, there is an issue. It is empty, yet this will not last. No, the Collector shall soon start gathering his toys to fill the gaps. Through various points in human history, he is taking who he wishes. His motivations may be unclear, but somehow each of his toys will serve a purpose for his plans.

Once each of these ‘toys’ are collected, they will be confronted by the realities of their situation. Information of their future lives will greet a large majority of his subjects, and then, they must cope. They cannot leave and, will instead, have to adapt. However, adapting is not simple for their situation will not remain constant. The Collector will not just leave his toys alone, but will play with them as he desires.

Life in the Collector's Domain will keep transforming. One moment the place will appear like a desert, then a coastal town, and then, a tropical rainforest. However, all the while, the people cannot leave until He demands it. They will experience various trials and tribulations, some that seem almost playful (from the outsider), and others, much more sinister.

So, what will you do when the Collector calls on you? As one of his toys, how will you survive? How will you react when you have no information about your situation, except for a small note in a journal that falls from the sky and what you can learn from those who are suffering through the same thing?

Welcome to the Collectors!

It was three years ago that the world watched while on every news channel, vampires came out. Those creatures thought to be myth, legend, something out of horror movies, novels. Now were proclaiming their existence, and thanks to their own advances in medicine, were demanding fair and equal treatment as citizens of the world. The world, was changed, and it wasn't about to stop any time soon.

Within the last three years, the world has seen vampires as citizens, a shifter vaccine for those were creatures still hidden among us, passing as humans, the legalization of raising zombies, new police forces to deal with new crimes and new kinds of criminals. No place is immune to this new world, its eyes forced open to the supernatural going on around it. New churches that can promise eternity with a bite, new protests over the dead not staying dead, new prejudices continuing the age old tradition of Us vs. Them.

Here in the city of Refrain, it is no different. You can choose to accept and find your place in this new world, dealing with those things most were happy to turn a blind eye to, ignoring those eyes staring at you from the dark of night. Or you can protest, you can rail against the changes, you can continue ignoring them. However, there is no going back. Vampires are recognized citizens of the world. Were creatures exist and are among us. Zombies can be raised for fun or profit. Magic. Is real. Adapt, quickly, because there's no telling what is out there in the shadows that have made it a Dark Refrain.

Dark Refrain is a mature roleplay based off of the world of the Anita Blake novels. Non canon characters only, with no word count, where writers can feel free to develop their characters at their pace within a world where the supernatural is out of the closet and now part of every day life.

The Crescent City Institute of Magic has a long history of educating the best and brightest Witches and Wizards in the United States. Located on the grounds of an old plantation near New Orleans, CCI has a culture shaped both by its students and faculty, as well as by the close proximity of New Orleans itself.

CCI has been through changes in recent years. Hurricane Katrina hit the school hard, as it did all of the region. Many upperclassmen will remember the previous headmaster’s tragic death during the storm as he tried to help evacuate the school.

As the new school year begins, more changes are in store. Adversaries old and new are drawn to New Orleans like moths to a flame, and strange…things…abound. One thing is for certain: this year, petty high school drama will be the least of anyone’s concerns…

In one small moment everything changed. The Prophecy was spoken and all became still. The Dark Lord vanished in the night with but one message passed to his followers. Each and every Dark Mark burned to life, the black scorched depiction of a skull and snake forming the words Stay quiet, stay hidden, before it faded from their skin. Lord Voldemort slipped away like a puff of smoke a name only mumbled about in school rooms, a legendary monster thought forever gone.

Peace descended on the Wizarding World and after some time all became as it once was. Those that had fought on either side settled down into routine. Romances flourished, children were born, and a great man died. It is still a mystery, the death of Albus Dumbledore. He was simply found dead in his office at Hogwarts, though there are whispers that dark magic consumed him, that a blight withered him till it all out consumed him.

The Dark Lord Voldemort is barely spoken of outside of History of Magic classrooms. He is thought lost to the pages of history, many think him even dead. The Wizarding World no longer fears the shadows and has all but forgotten those that followed him still living among them in secret. After all, the battles are finished the war has been won. Hasn’t it?
