[WELCOME TO RAINBOW BRIDGE!


That's the first you hear, once you walk into this world. It's easy to see the reason for the name, having just crossed a bridge lit up in all the colors of the rainbow.

Whether you're from a different magical world, or consider the concept of magic a silly thing from movies and games, you'll still receive the proper welcome, and everything that comes with it - some information about this country, a map, directions, and explanations as to how there should be a residents list, but it seems empty at the moment.

But it doesn't end there! It's not just that you're now visiting a magical country with plenty of sights to see and places to explore, with different towns and cities, long roads across swamps, dunes and a large lake, even creepy castles by some cliffs and the dangerous forests surrounding them. No, this week they're also celebrating the arrival of Spring!



While some of the areas are naturally flowery and pretty (like EverGreen Town), it'll all still be noticeably decorated for the date, with flower garlands and bouquets everywhere, flower petals falling around and the perfume of flowers in the air, while NPC travelers will have flowery-patterned clothes, flowers in their hair or hats, and so on. Carriages taking you from place to place might be decorated as well, or you might spot horses with pretty arrangements in their manes.

You'll also be able to find seasonal treats at places like the bakery and the big community kitchen at Sunset Village, or the restaurants at Tourmaline City, or find cute colorful outfits at their clothing shops.

EverGreen Town will be thriving, with big sales on herbs, all sorts of spices, wines and ingredients, and obviously flowers, plants and decorations made with them. The plaza will be full of vendors but also people playing music and dancing through the days - a rare time for those in this town to be a little louder and outgoing.

Even at places like the creepy Crimson Keeps, you might be able to find rare treasure in the form of flower-shaped gems and jewellery!


So it's definitely not a bad time to arrive here - surely that initial confusion and outrage at being separated from your home or loved ones will go away much faster while you join the celebrations, right? Who can stay mad or anxious while wearing a freshly made flower crown?]]

[There's so many questions that could reasonably all come out in that moment, jumbling up together in a mess of what happened, are you okay, is everyone else... but just as soon, once he's physically near Shiro, once he sees him directly despite the worry clear in his expression, everything else just quiets to a calmer, dull hum. Oh.

Keith starts forward too, with the intent to meet him halfway, though it sort of becomes more of another stumble. It's fine. He got this.]

Shiro.

[Something like a helpless raspy laugh gets away from him just feeling through the relief. He may also still be a bit brain fuzzy.] Hey. It's so good to see you.

[His hands are reaching for him as soon as he sees that stumble, catching him gently by the arms -- his touch as gentle as he can manage it, not wanting to risk hurting him.]

Keith. [Up close, he gets a good look at him, checking him over to assess. The last time he saw him, or heard from him-- well. It's a good thing he's holding onto Keith's elbows and nobody's going to see how his hands shake.]

You're okay? You're-- [are you okay?]

[He's not sure what to make of all the shenanigans of the day. He thought he was used to magic (or, well, space magic), but this feels like something else entirely. And he saw the end of the battle for Earth.]

[He's nodding before the words come, slowly, and ultimately grateful for the support. That he can hold himself barely back from falling into Shiro entirely right in that moment, it certainly must mean he has some hold back of his senses at least.]

Yeah. [... He can't help that, yes, his voice is a little choked up, the thought similar to where Shiro's lie. They may have made their decision together, but it doesn't mean it was an easy one. But still, here, in this moment, what matters is - ] Yeah, Shiro, I'm okay.

I don't really know what happened, but I must've - I guess they treated me when I got here. [Wherever this is.]

[He understands vividly how you must have felt all those times he was injured and yet was always there for him... and he feels inadequate in his support now. He should have been there the moment you appeared here, should have been there on Earth to keep you all from being hurt. The guilt stews the way it always does, all those things he can't quite express for fear of revealing too much.]

Okay... [He lets out a shaky breath all the same at the reassurance. Even if it's hard to fathom, it's clear that Keith is okay, even if the worry still lingers.]

I'm glad. I'm-- [there isn't anything adequate for him to say. he tries to school his expression into something that doesn't look so openly overwhelmed, but it's a little hard right now.]

You're okay. [He says it softly, as if convincing himself now, too.] I've got you.

[He can't be sure if it's just his deeply attuned priorities when it comes to Shiro, that although it's impossible for him to know exactly what goes through his mind now and he can barely focus as it is, Keith still feels something lodge up in his chest at all the signs of worry and stress Shiro shows, never mind the internal turmoil unseen.

He can't make that disappear. He knows that all too well. But it's easier to remember what sometimes works for him, to have something to focus on to cut through the overload. So he nods, hopes to reinforce that reassurance.]

Thanks. You always do. [He will hear nothing otherwise.] Could I...?

[Moves one hand to motion at Shiro's side, a little smile in the half-spoken request, making it a little more purposeful for Shiro to help him walk beside him.] Have you heard from anyone else here?

[He takes the direction instantly, shifting to get his arm around Keith's waist, holding him up.] Of course.

[He waits until Keith's situated, ensuring that he hasn't hurt him, before he takes the tentative step with him, focused on getting them somewhere safe (relatively speaking) and where Keith can rest.]

No. I haven't been able to find the others and I've been here for a few hours now.

[Despite whatever discomfort his body feels, settling into Shiro is easy as anything, safe, and he exhales slowly at the feeling, trusting him in their steps forward more than his own legs right now.]

[The answer makes him frown, though an explanation that makes sense beyond what he sees in front of them doesn't come to mind either. But.]

If I'm - [Here? All right? Whatever it can be called, then...] They'll all be okay. I know it.

At least you found me. [Don't you always?] Not that an island full of rainbows screams intimidating, but it's still good to not be at this alone.

[L- laughs quietly (or maybe sort of wheezes) just helpless to it, angling a look up at him with a sidelong warm smile.]

Felt like you found me from where I was standing. [Either way, he won't disagree with the sentiment.] I'm glad it was you, Shiro.

And hey, don't sweat it - now we can take down a rainbow or two if it comes to it. [Ha ha see he's funny and not a total sap yep anyway cough.]

If it comes to it. [But first things first--] After you've rested. We'll figure out the rest later.

[He got a bit of the lay of the land in the hours he was here, but not enough to scale everything -- and especially with how different everything could become depending on the region. He recalls where he saw hospital sand clinics, but he worries it might be too far away.

And he's not quite sure if he trusts those warp points yet. Again, yes, he knows space magic and the mystical connection with sentient lions is maybe a touch more advanced than warp points, but it's the principle of the thing.

He looks back at Keith as they move.]

How are you feeling? Let me know if this is too much. [He's not above carrying you if he has to.]

Yeah. Yeah - we will.

[He might argue more in other circumstances, and even still has the urge to do so now, but as things are so far - Shiro's right. The truth is if he really thinks about it, he should be in much worse condition than he is and it's not something he can quite explain, or that he wants to put into words when Shiro is already so worried. His helmet is missing now but he can vaguely recall the broken state it was in before he was taken to that clinic and that thought is... a lot.

As for the now, he shakes his head in answer. Not yet.]

I feel okay. Let's keep going. [He can still...] It's strange, I wasn't there that long but maybe it's not all that different from what we had with the healing pods. I guess.

[The space magic to magic magic pipeline is an experience indeed.]

[It's not a sight he's about to forget, seeing Keith and the others fall from the sky. It'd been terrifying, to say the least, and even now with him next to him, clearly holding him and seeing that he's alright, that lingering anxiety stays. He has no right to be worried about Keith doing reckless things, probably, considering everything he gets up to... but, well.]

[He considers Keith's words with a thoughtful hum.] I hadn't considered that, but it seems like a good comparison.

[The fact that he can walk at all is testament to that. The Lions are resilient, sure, but they've all been in enough crash landings before to know that it doesn't always turn out so steadily.]

Something like that, at least.

[Whatever goes unsaid in their worries under the surface, it's enough that it feels like a reflex almost when Keith lightly squeezes his arm that he's been holding around Shiro for support, something he hopes is reassuring in just the gesture. He can't say he's without a similar anxiousness, however ready they'd been to do anything to save Earth in that situation... He can still just as well remember their roles reversed just moments before the next fight started, Keith helping hold Shiro up as you're doing for him right now.]

What about you? You said it's just been a few hours... How do you feel?

[Shakes his head, almost wanting to laugh.]

I'm fine, Keith. [He says it softly, entirely fond.] Focus on yourself for now, okay?

[He doesn't mean it as a self-deprecating thing, but more a gentle reassurance: he is fine, aside from general anxiety and tiredness. Nothing he can't handle and certainly nowhere near as bad as he's used to, especially lately.]

[There's a brief moment of hesitation and then he guides them towards the warp point. They don't have money but he knows the nearest hospital is a good ways away. He's willing to take the risk to make sure that Keith will be okay. If something goes wrong, he'll deal with it. But better to get to EverGreen Town quickly.]

For now, though, it's enough for him to say that much, and Keith's answer is an accepting nod back, glad for it and opting to keep himself leaned against him the best he can as they come up to the platform. It shouldn't feel that strange as a concept, but in unfamiliar lands... Well, maybe that's not new for them either.]

Here goes.

[Whatever happens, they can face it, as they always do.

When a perhaps predictably rainbow light absorbs them together into the warp point and delivers them to their verdant destination... Okay, the feeling is a bit overwhelming in this state. Dizzying, even. No added harm thankfully but he'll need a moment to readjust when they arrive. Urgh.]

[Oof, yeah, that was not his favorite sensation ever. He can only imagine how it must feel for Keith when he's in this state, his grip on his waist tightening even as he turns a little to search him over quickly, confirming that there was no added harm.]

I think so. [He hasn't even really checked their surroundings, though, more focused on Keith. When he does glance around, the place feels... appropriately evergreen-y, and he can see the hospital a short distance away. Phew.]

Do you need a moment? [He is two seconds away from scooping him up anyway.]

[Fine? Nope just kidding he does need it, though he can't quite push out the words all the way. As though he could just force away the fresh headache and wave of nausea that rolls in, he shuts his eyes and ducks his face (more or less smushed into Shiro's shoulder) and takes the moment. Breathes... slowly.

Don't apologize. [His response is immediate, voice soft as Keith presses into his shoulder. He turns his head a little, nearly curling into him, giving him that support.]

[And in that, he makes the unilateral decision to pick him up in his arms. It takes a moment, adjusting the whole... floating arm thing, to scoop under Keith's knees, his other arm holding him against his chest.]

Sorry. [He knows this might be a little awkward, but--] Just rest. I've got you.

[That he responds so readily and keeps holding Keith up (all that has stopped him from collapsing entirely tbh) isn't surprising in the usual way things can be between them in these situations. Almost more than the physical support, Shiro's presence is a comfort he can't explain but feels grateful for and it would have been enough just like that.

When everything shifts up, though, it doesn't even immediately register until it really, really does. Oh.]

Shiro?

[He fits easily with Shiro's larger arm under him, the feeling of it at first unexpected and different to register, but not at all unwelcome. Managing to lift his head, there's surprise on his face only a moment then - he nods.] ... Okay. I- yeah.

[Nods in response, still looking worried but at least a little settled now that he has a good hold on Keith, and it's that concern that keeps him from getting flustered or blushy over something like this. He sets a steady pace towards the hospital, although he moves as calmly as he can in fear of rattling Keith more or making the dizziness worse.]

[There's probably a reminder somewhere in the distance that maybe he should be flustered on his part as well, and he could blame it on the hazy feelings that the initial surprise passes when he lets himself settle into Shiro and just. trusts him that this is the best way to go about it. Truthfully he doesn't actually have a grip yet on where exactly they've arrived beyond the initial idea of venturing out, and yet even not quite knowing what's ahead...

He still takes in the reassurance of Shiro's words without doubt or question, a quiet exhale as he closes his eyes.]

[At the very least, he's grateful that Keith isn't freaking out or in deep pain. With Keith in his arms, it's easy to close the distance with the hospital and get Keith there for the rest of treatment and care. If Shiro hovers, distressed and feeling useless, he can't really help it. He's glad he can do this much, at least.]

Can I do anything for you?

[If nothing else at least this time Keith is much more aware of things as they get into the hospital here compared to the first clinic. Enough to see some honestly wild healing herbal magic things happen thanks to the travelers at work with Evergreen's supplies... Are there leaves pressed to his head and body under a nice fresh set of loose earthy-style very-much-not-Keith type garments? Something that smells sort of like berries and oils? Flowers sticking out from under his hair? He can't imagine all of that was necessary but ok.

Still, whatever treatment goes on, it really isn't until Shiro's allowed back to stay with him again that Keith fully rests for a proper period of time, an undercurrent of uncertainty that only dispels when he knows Shiro is there or allowed close. And now awake again in the temporary hospital room and with a better grasp of their situation, he smiles lopsidedly a little at Shiro in an attempt to reassure him or just lighten the mood.]

Well... You'll have to tell me if I start growing roots out of anywhere.

[Similarly, the entire time Keith was being cared for, Shiro has nervous and feeling anxious. Hey, he might have been here for hours on his own... but now that he knows Keith is here and injured, being separated isn't necessarily a reassuring thing. Even if the people around have been helpful and diligent and haven't raised any alarm bells, of course... but he's just worried.

Still, it's instinctive to smile back at Keith when he sees him smile, too. He's far from fully relaxed, but at least he's reassured that Keith is okay.]

Don't worry. I'll sound the alarm.

[Still, there is a spare leaf that the care team must have missed. He lifts his hand carefully to pluck it out without disturbing him too much, smile just a touch helpless.]

So far so good, though.

[It's so brief but he still finds himself blinking when the touch registers and by the time he sees the leaf between Shiro's fingers and understands, Keith is already matching him a bit in a sort of helplessness. The laugh he lets out is halfway to a wheeze, self-conscious at the thought that he must look silly but fond despite himself.]

Thanks. Glad you got me. [Haa.] Hey, I'm not about to complain. but...

Guess this is just the thing around here, huh?

[At least from how it feels so far, these leafy ways did the trick, though. Okay then.]
