[WELCOME TO RAINBOW BRIDGE!

That's the first you hear, once you walk into this world. It's easy to see the reason for the name, having just crossed a bridge lit up in all the colors of the rainbow.

Whether you're from a different magical world, or consider the concept of magic a silly thing from movies and games, you'll still receive the proper welcome, and everything that comes with it - some information about this country, a map, directions, and explanations as to how there should be a residents list, but it seems empty at the moment.

But it doesn't end there! It's not just that you're now visiting a magical country with plenty of sights to see and places to explore, with different towns and cities, long roads across swamps, dunes and a large lake, even creepy castles by some cliffs and the dangerous forests surrounding them. No, this week they're also celebrating the arrival of Spring!

While some of the areas are naturally flowery and pretty (like EverGreen Town), it'll all still be noticeably decorated for the date, with flower garlands and bouquets everywhere, flower petals falling around and the perfume of flowers in the air, while NPC travelers will have flowery-patterned clothes, flowers in their hair or hats, and so on. Carriages taking you from place to place might be decorated as well, or you might spot horses with pretty arrangements in their manes.

You'll also be able to find seasonal treats at places like the bakery and the big community kitchen at Sunset Village, or the restaurants at Tourmaline City, or find cute colorful outfits at their clothing shops.

EverGreen Town will be thriving, with big sales on herbs, all sorts of spices, wines and ingredients, and obviously flowers, plants and decorations made with them. The plaza will be full of vendors but also people playing music and dancing through the days - a rare time for those in this town to be a little louder and outgoing.

Even at places like the creepy Crimson Keeps, you might be able to find rare treasure in the form of flower-shaped gems and jewellery!

So it's definitely not a bad time to arrive here - surely that initial confusion and outrage at being separated from your home or loved ones will go away much faster while you join the celebrations, right? Who can stay mad or anxious while wearing a freshly made flower crown?]]

[[And so it begins! Remember to note down your Travelers over here! // VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOL. ¡Recuerden anotar a sus viajeros aquí!]]

Near Evergreen Town

[It takes him a second to realize something's wrong. One minute he had been walking at the main street at Derry's downtown, gotten a face full of balloons by that little asshole (which, rude) and now he was... surrounded by flowers? What? And sure he didn't remember much about the shit town he had grown up apparently, but how would he get turned around in fucking Derry of all places? And it wasn't even the right season, having all those people smiling at him and celebrating fucking spring--

Oh shit fuck, was this the clown fucking messing with him? Surrounding him with all kinds of flowers like an allergy nightmare -- he could already feel all the polen sticking into the back of his throat, making his nose itch. Oh god, his asthma was acting up, he needed his inhaler but he couldn't see the pharmacy anymore and -- was that a fucking bee?]

What the fuck man, are you trying to kill me? Get that thing away from me! [He had practically shoved away the person who seemed to insistently want to hand him a bee infested (according to him) flower crown, what the fuck was wrong with these people?]

[As if his life needed any more weird shit going on... Though somehow, the killer monster clown that feeds on your fears and the magical scars and the returning memories from his apparently forgotten childhood make more sense than showing up in a whole different world. Where magic is a thing and, apparently, it's spring.

Either he's completely fucked or his brain finally imploded. Both options sucked.

He's in the middle of yet another rundown of explanation from the nice and very patient lady he ran into and put a colorful flower crown on him, when he recognizes a neurotic sounding voice. Richie is sure that he could pick up that voice anywhere.]

Fuck me, Eds?! Either you're here too or my hallucinations are getting really accurate.

[The person he was giving an earful got lucky your voice distracts him enough to stop him from ripping them a new one after their totally attempted murder.] Richie? Oh thank fuck, what the fuck is going on man?

[Honestly he couldn't be more relieved to find a familiar face in the middle of this crazy turmoil. Which was a little weird, right? Two days ago he wouldn't have been able to recognize you if he passed you on the street. But either way he really didn't want to have to end up facing the fucking clown on his own.] And don't call me Eds, dipshit.

[He's going to make so much fun of you for believing someone giving you stupid flowers is attempted murder. But for now, having found you is what matters most.

He'd agree on their situation being super weird, though. Because he knows you've had that same reaction to him calling you Ed's so many times. It makes him feel a fondness he can't (and really doesn't want to) describe.

Okay, no, get your priorities in order, Tozier.]

Fuck if I know. I was convinced I was having a bad trip or something. But uh, apparently killer monster clowns aren't the only thing that's real, surprise!

[He says the last bit with a completely deadpan expression.]

[He's rolling his eyes at that, a deeply engrained reaction it seems.] That's not funny. Unless you actually went and took a joint instead of looking for that token crap like we were supposed to be doing? Where would you even find pot in fucking Derry-? You know what, don't answer that. [Still, he gives a suspicious sniff in your direction, just because. Then his voice lowers into a more conspirational tone, his brows furrowed together in worry.] And how can you be so sure, what if it's just It fucking with us?

[He frowns and does his best offended face when you sniff him.]

I'm sorry, did you just sniff me? What are you, a narc? Is that risk analyst bullshit job just a cover? Because it's the stupidest cover in the world, you know.

[But despite taking a moment to tease you, he does grow a bit, just a bit more serious when you bring up It.]

I don't know, don't you think all this looks a little too nice and welcoming to be that?

I should be the one asking that, you were the one to bring it up! What was I supposed to think? I had to make sure because I certainly don't want to end up getting fucking arrested by association since you already got me in trouble for the same shit once and-- [He stops at that, and he blinks, once, twice. His mouth opening and closing a couple of times as he tries to follow that train of thought. And yeah, the memory is there, where it wasn't before. Blurry still, but he does remember getting grounded and the annoyance that came with it.] [He frowns.]

[He mulls over your answer a little, after all, you do have a point.] It certainly doesn't seem like its style. [Pennywise never really was this patient, and while Eddie does feel apprehensive, the looming sensation of dread that had not budged since he arrived at Derry just seemed to have-- dissipated somehow. Plus, there wasn't a single balloon in sight. Huh.]

Come on, there's no such thing as being arrested by association.

[The expression you make does make him stop a little and frown, out of concern. So he does the most logical thing when he's worried about you- tease you.]

What's with that face? Did you forget you sniff your mom's panties or something? [And in the same breath, he just goes on like nothing.] Exactly. I'd expect more eyeballs or flying shit.

[Well, you could count your attempt at distracting him as a success, since all there is left in his expression now is exasperation.] Of course there is, it's literally in the law! And my mother is still dead, so will you give it a fucking rest already?

[He rubs one of his temples a little and sighs. He can't decide if their current situation is better, or worse.] Well, still doesn't feel like a great reassurance. [Because the question still remains, where the fuck were they? Though he does relax a little bit now that the clown is apparently out of the picture.]

Oh shit, dude, she's dead? And you didn't invite me to her funeral? I would've given the best eulogy. So many moments we shared together.

[Not the best idea to joke about that but... that's just Richie for you. At least they can both agree that this situation they are one in is absolutely insane.]

Not that I love agreeing with you, but yeah. It doesn't feel great either. We're still in another world. That's crazy.

[info]hypochondrias

And what? Having you making extremely inappropriate jokes every five minutes? I think I was already miserable enough at it was, thank you. [This makes him consider it a bit. Had he been really? Felt miserable? Well, he had felt sad for sure, but he also cannot help but remember just how utterly relieved he had felt after the whole ordeal was over. Was that a horrible thing to think about all of the sudden?]

Hey, what's that supposed to mean? [He let's out a huff and looks around for a bit, he still has trouble warping his mind around the whole meaning of actually being in another world bit. It makes him feel delirious and like he's about to lose his mind and not in a good way, so he involuntarily takes a step closer to you because you make him feel grounded in this whole craziness.] So, what now? Should we try to find the others?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]yippekiyaymf
2023-10-04 01:31 am UTC (link)
[Considering what he's been remembering about your mother, he wouldn't judge you for feeling relieved. Maybe that's another reason to not feel bad about cracking those kind of jokes, too. It's like getting back at her for making you have a bad time when you were young. Which is a weird thought to have about someone he didn't remember that existed a week ago. Add that to the list.]

Maybe we should find a place to stay first. Not to make you freak out and start crying, but it kind of looks like we're going to be here for a while.

[He notices that you got closer to him and it makes him feel... protective, for some reason. Like despite all the jokes and teasing, he has to plan what to do next. Try to be logical. Damn it, it'd be easier if the others were around.

But... He's honestly glad that, if he had to be stuck here with anyone in this world, at least it's with you.]

Fuck you, I wasn't going to cry about it. [Because maybe he was going to freak out. Just a little bit.] And we don't even have any of our stuff here for a long stay. Are we really going to go around wearing the same clothes for an indeterminate number of days?

[He can't help but think wistfully of his toiletry bag, forgotten on that shitty hotel room. He knew he should've never stopped wearing fanny packs, no matter what everyone
else had to say. At least he would had had the essentials with him right this moment. Which reminded him...] Okay, no, we need to find a pharmacy or some kind of fucking hospital on this place first. I need my inhaler.

[He'll go by that area eventually, at least just to take a look around, though he quickly notices he doesn't quite like the overly-perfect, neat, tidy vibe of the town.

The mess that are your memories call his attention easily, and he can tell you're afraid of bees that aren't even there, but it's not like he can tell you that right away.]

How will some flowers kill you?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]hypochondrias

Actually it's very common for pollen to trigger allergic reactions and asthma episodes, and statistically speaking it's more than likely that this many flowers would harbor a significant percentage of bees amongst them, whose sting can cause anaphylactic shock and death. [So, no, he doesn't want your flower crown random person, so just stop.]

[....... wow.]

You know bees'll only sting if you mess around with them, right? [If you're trying to shove the flowers away and shake them too much, it'll only send the (inexistent) bees into defensive mode.]

I'd rather not take my chances and just stay as far away from them as possible. [One sting it's all it takes, that's all his saying. Thankfully the person with the flower crowns seems to finally get the hint and stops pestering him with it, thank fuck.]

[... well, fuck.] Okay, yeah, well, fine, that's fine. I just need to find the nearest pharmacy and everything will be alright. [He wrings his hands together for a moment before forcing his arms to his sides, his hands clenched into tight fists. Fuck this, botany will not be the end of him.]

[Thinks that while he finds your over-the-top anxiety amusing, Lestat would find you obnoxious and want you dead within five minutes. Which is his weird way of missing Lestat.]

[Anyway--] There's a big hospital here, maybe they could help you.

Oh, thank God. [He, at least, looks visibly more relaxed at that, if only marginally.] Yes, a hospital would definitely help me. Could you point me in the right direction to find it?

Sure. It's not that far away. [Points briefly towards the specific direction with his (pimp) cane.]

I could walk you there, if you want. [In case the bees get to you, or something. He's mostly just kinda curious about you.]

[There's a young man working on getting flowers out of his hair not too far off, undoing a braid that has definitely messed up his otherwise meticulously-kept brown hair. He's more or less restraining his own exasperation with it and instead focusing on watching the surroundings while he does this, avoiding attention under a relatively tucked away corner of the square.

From there, he certainly does not miss when this rather peculiar guy becomes the new victim of the festive locals and inclined as he is to ignore it. ..... Sigh.]

This way. These awnings keep a few seats just far enough out of their view. [A neat little table with some chairs and shade but not tied to one of the busier cafes or vendors. Works well enough.]

What is it - allergies?

[He's not gonna think twice to take the opportunity and get away from that flower-handing maniac, and at least he feels like he can breathe more easily here.] All this pollen is going to make my asthma act up, that's what's happening, and I'm not willing to go through an episode without my inhaler. [He clenches his fists a few times, wishing said inhaler would just materialize out of thin air. God, if only.] And I wouldn't be surprised if I did end up being mortally allergic to some of these, not like I actually want to go and find out. Nor do I want to end up getting stung by a bee, thank you very much.

[He sits back, keeping a distance both to better observe the guy and equally seem like giving him some breathing room. Mortally allergic? Bro.]

That is... certainly a lot of possibilities. I'm afraid it seems as though the coming of Spring is something of a big deal to these people regardless of where one ventures.
