all night || por la noche
[Effects of previous days might've vanished by now, but still, today won't be your luckiest day. Today there's an eclipse in the sky, and to those who are more used to magical worlds, it might be a more obvious sign that something will inevitably go wrong.

As the night falls, certain areas will become busier - forests and swamps where creatures crawl will see their numbers suddenly rise, and these extra animals and monsters need somewhere to go.

Even if you're in a safer area, you might run into one of them. Maybe something as harmless as a a deer, or something much more sinister waiting for you outside your house, walking into stores, in the various routes, even within lakes and the sea.

So watch out, because this will be a very long night.]

[[Invasion log! Time to test those charms for those who have them!]]

[It's a similar familiarity for Frieren too, to do things like this and jump into the fray of monster control - aiming her staff and sending off targeted blasts of magic to push back larger droves from getting far into the towns.

Not unlike Yen, the wide area of damage is great at crowd control but not exactly subtle in the affected zone. But hey, a good opening for follow up.]

They won't slow down yet. [This might be a long night.]

[She can handle one of the smaller monsters that manage to get closer. Her style is quite acrobatic and as she twirls around the creature, she slashes it over and over again with her sword. It might not be as huge and impressive as yours and Yennefer's magic, but she's glad to be able to help.]

Y... solo te ve a ti.]

¿Acaso...?

[No, no, él es inocente.]

... Eso fue una suerte. [:o]

[It doesn't escape her notice, seeing your movements and skill, especially in an art that she herself is just totally lacking in. Agility over power... She can really appreciate that.]

Thank you. Those were faster than I thought. [Not to say Frie is slow but certainly less so than your style allows.]

[It's particularly useful to focus on agility considering her size. Though she'd like to be able to use magic like you and Yennefer do.]

Some of them are tricky to defeat, yeah. Are you okay?

[Nods quickly, a certain and direct answer in the heat of battle.]

I'm fine. [Although...] It's hard to say when they'll stop.

[She sighs when you mention the last part. It's something that's greatly worrying her as well.]

I know. It's like there's no end to them.

Yes.

[Which... is indeed a concern, though in Frieren's case she's not entirely unused to pulling from her massive pool of mana to keep fighting. And why she gives this particular piece of advice:]

Step back if you feel yourself run low on energy. It will take a toll if it continues at this pace.

[He's starting to wonder how much of dealing with this invasion will mean patching up whatever was wrecked by magic or strong enough attacks.]

These things usually last all day. [If not more.]

[Probably a lot........ Sorry.]

Like a spell that hasn't run its course yet. [Classic around here, she wouldn't be surprised if it did go for longer, but that's just her.]

[Lets out a very big sigh, typical of him when discussing big magic shenanigans.]

I've faced worse. [Think giant dragon-like monsters hellbent on wrecking the entire Witcher base.] We can manage this.

[If nothing else, she's in the same boat of feeling more or less in her element when it comes to things like this.]

I have no doubt. Let's hope not too many were taken more off guard.

[Lucky (?) that they could just jump into the fray to help.]

We can go look for anyone who's stranded, once this is secure. [It won't keep shoving monsters at them forever, or hopefully the combined attacks will just make them run out of creatures soon.]

Got it. [It's not difficult to keep up the attack on her part either, with her mana pool, but--]

What is strange is... there doesn't seem to be a direct source to focus onto. [Nowhere to nip this in the bud.]

[They'll make a great team, both fighting creatures and helping others around with defensive magic or simply bodyguarding them against any harm... or helping shepherd sheep into safety, whichever comes first.]

[At the end of the day, he'll go meet her properly again, now sporting a bloody shoulder which he can't have quickly healed as usual.]

I'll have to admit I miss Heiter. [At times like these, but in general too.]

[She notices the injury right away, not the most obvious concern but a clear shift of her eyes then up to him again. A small sigh, and she's getting to the supplies they keep at home to manage with.]

No church for an alternative either. [And... yes, she misses him too.] Here... come sit.

[So scandalous. She helps set aside the fabric too, a little clumsily but at least so he doesn't have to move that arm more than needed.]

How deep is it? [Kind of figures he's been going for a while with it considering how long the day has lasted so far.]

Thankfully not that deep, or I'd be in trouble. Not that there weren't many chances for that today. [To be unlucky and end up shredded by a monster.]

[Nods, not missing the meaning given their shared experience in that.]

There were a lot of close calls.

[Not just for them, but others caught off guard... Sigh. She moves to pour some water into a basin and set it close, casting a small spell to warm it up a bit to use.]
