['Tis the season.

The season for arrivals.

Such as snow, for example. Well, it's technically not the season, given it's summer, but at the same time it's the holiday season, and so it's definitely the season for it. It doesn't matter if you try to argue against this perfect logic, because in any case the snow will arrive - a subtle frost first, then a solid white blanket covering it all. From the mountains in the Crimson Woods to the prairies near Sunset Village, but particularly around the south, at Tourmaline City and the port areas; roofs, pathways, parks, ponds and gardens will turn into a winter fantasyland, ideal for snow angels, sliding on sleighs, skating.... or simply staying home, cursing the weather from within a blanket coccoon. In fact, if you were lacking winter clothes in your closet, it's a great time to go stock up in stores, which will temporarily carry coats and scarves. Or you could just grab hot chocolate that will be sold around every corner. Or maybe join in on the holiday cheer and hang fairy lights or garlands, set up a colorful tree in your home, even buy some last-minute gifts.

But that's not all that will be arriving, although this other visit might not be as obvious. It will start sneakily creeping up some tree branches, hanging from unaware lintels, even showing up floating above the heads of careless victims, until it achieves its goal. This tenacious invader of green leaves and red fruits won't disappear until those underneath it do the traditional kiss, so you better watch your surroundings. It's mistletoe season too, afterall, and these are as magical as they are capricious.

Will that be all that arrives? Maybe. Christmas and New Year are coming up, so these days will have many different things approaching at high speed.

Perhaps somewhere out there, there's a boat, approaching slowly but surely across the sea, and some music that can be heard stronger and stronger at a distance... What is it?

Well, you'll know when it arrives. But most likely it's nothing short of all your dreams come true.]

[[Snow & Mistletoe log! Backdated to around xmas time. Feel free to be creative with mistletoe - maybe it's asking for a long hug, or hand-holding, or a slap to the face!

EN ESPAÑOL. Post de nieve y muérdagos! Backdatteado a alrededor de la navidad. Pueden ser creativos con los muérdagos, quizá les pidan un abrazo largo, o que se tomen la mano, ¡o un cachetazo!]

... Perhaps. I'm still considering my options. But it can't be denied this world has more to offer in that area than the last. There's more than one theater, for starters. [Impressive.]

Certainly nothing to scoff at with those establishments, either.

[He noticed so while poking around on his own through the fancy buildings and all around Tourmaline so far, after more or less settling there. They have very particular vibe.]

But I suppose the thought is an interesting one. In a place of so many worlds colliding, what sort of culture would come out as the result?

[Either a mess of things or one world prevailing over others... Hm.]

Hmm. In my experience, it is places like this where the most fun is had. [He smiles a bit, remembering his first night in New Orleans-- the first time he saw Louis, coincidentally.]

A crucible of fascinating people, smells, languages and customs. Novelty has a hard time wearing off.

Novelty, huh.

[Akechi keeps to his well-practiced placid expression, thoughtful, letting his own distaste for the same notions go unsaid and unexpressed. It's a thought he can't help these days in particular, given the newly given bracelet he's received today that makes it feel all the more "permanent" as far as his stay here goes. For Akechi, novelty isn't nearly enough not to make this whole experience any less of a straight up nightmare.]

Well.

Seeing as we seem to have no shortage of new travelers passing through each day, I'm sure the novelty will certainly stay at least until the bridges close their proverbial gates.

[He's not actively reading your mind-- that said, your distaste might be strong enough that he catches a glimpse of it. Perhaps it's the disonance between what you say and what he perceives from you, or the way you ended that phrase, but he seems startled all of a sudden.]

... You think they could do that?

I couldn't say. But it doesn't exactly seem far out of the realm of possibility either, does it?

[He keeps playing at detached speculation, shrugging, like it's the theorizing of a young man with a curious mind rather than the bitter musings of an utter cynic.]

Given how little we do know of the forces behind the curtain.

Well... [He seems pensive now.]

It has been the case before, in my experience. Being trapped, I mean. Not something I enjoy much, and this world does seem to offer more liberty in that sense. [Hmmm.]

[Ah. Another one for the list (which he is absolutely keeping if not just to see if it matters one day) of people who are on their round 2 of trapped in another world. Hmm.]

How would you describe the difference compared to here?

We have no rulers, for example. Or, as they called themselves, management.

[He lets something like a chuckle startle out of him at the words, raising a brow in question.]

That's not the term I would have pictured. Government, maybe. In a place like this? It is surprising there wasn't some monarchy already established.

[Given all the places and the aesthetics.]

Well, monarchies fall more easily than one would think. Head-first, usually. [Harhar french revolution something something.][He lights himself a cigarette.]

Bureaucracy, on the other hand, remains to be seen.

[Doesn't hold back a soft sort at that, yes........... well.]

Perhaps. If it only persists because beheadings are out of fashion in modern day politics, is it really any less fragile than what came before?

[He smiles, entertained with you.]

Oh, where I come from, guillotines are still waiting in the back room, ready to be used at the first sign of need.

[Iiiinteresting. It would be a lie to say Akechi hasn't given a great deal of through and study to capital punishment, not just in the historical sense but also just as much the philosophical and - well, the practice of it, given his profession and his own "untimely" fate. He pretends for a few moments to consider the answer, all the same.]

France... is it? You may find it surprising to hear the use is indeed outlawed there now entirely, as have many other countries. Leaving it, I suppose you could say, a hotly debated matter for the few powers that still allow executions... under other methods.

[His own being one of them, welp.]

Bah. [He says, with a very french tone and a very french handwave, indeed.]

Laws come and go every two years. That's not an indicator of anything, and history does tend to repeat itself. [At that last thing you say, he looks up with brighter eyes.] And what whould those metods be?

[Contrary to popular belief (and well, his own actions....) Akechi's actual own outlook on death is not so much gleeful as it is dark and deeply morbid in comparison, but let it never be said he's not making a very careful mental note of the shining in your eyes. Nor those comments on the passing times.]

Where I come from? Hanging. One could also argue the years each inmate will no doubt spend awaiting their final sentence is a shared cog in the wheel of the inevitable execution.

Such is the justice system at work.

[That shining in his eyes should be taken as a warning, if not a threat. Not one directed at you (for now, at least) but... in general.]

[He makes a disdainful gesture at that, to a noise to match.]

Ah, hanging. The way of the coward. [Tsk.] Lacks in dramatics, if you ask me.
