['Tis the season.

The season for arrivals.

Such as snow, for example. Well, it's technically not the season, given it's summer, but at the same time it's the holiday season, and so it's definitely the season for it. It doesn't matter if you try to argue against this perfect logic, because in any case the snow will arrive - a subtle frost first, then a solid white blanket covering it all. From the mountains in the Crimson Woods to the prairies near Sunset Village, but particularly around the south, at Tourmaline City and the port areas; roofs, pathways, parks, ponds and gardens will turn into a winter fantasyland, ideal for snow angels, sliding on sleighs, skating.... or simply staying home, cursing the weather from within a blanket coccoon. In fact, if you were lacking winter clothes in your closet, it's a great time to go stock up in stores, which will temporarily carry coats and scarves. Or you could just grab hot chocolate that will be sold around every corner. Or maybe join in on the holiday cheer and hang fairy lights or garlands, set up a colorful tree in your home, even buy some last-minute gifts.

But that's not all that will be arriving, although this other visit might not be as obvious. It will start sneakily creeping up some tree branches, hanging from unaware lintels, even showing up floating above the heads of careless victims, until it achieves its goal. This tenacious invader of green leaves and red fruits won't disappear until those underneath it do the traditional kiss, so you better watch your surroundings. It's mistletoe season too, afterall, and these are as magical as they are capricious.

Will that be all that arrives? Maybe. Christmas and New Year are coming up, so these days will have many different things approaching at high speed.

Perhaps somewhere out there, there's a boat, approaching slowly but surely across the sea, and some music that can be heard stronger and stronger at a distance... What is it?

Well, you'll know when it arrives. But most likely it's nothing short of all your dreams come true.]

[[Snow & Mistletoe log! Backdated to around xmas time. Feel free to be creative with mistletoe - maybe it's asking for a long hug, or hand-holding, or a slap to the face!

EN ESPAÑOL. Post de nieve y muérdagos! Backdatteado a alrededor de la navidad. Pueden ser creativos con los muérdagos, quizá les pidan un abrazo largo, o que se tomen la mano, ¡o un cachetazo!]

[She honestly might've been content just to watch him with the kids for a little longer despite not saying as much, and there's the urge immediately when he smiles to reach out and feel if he's tangible the way she did last time. That he speaks of her return is convincing enough- She nods in answer, waits for him to bridge the gap the rest of the way.]

So I am. ... Has it been some time? [It's hard to tell, particularly when something about this weather feels off, though she can't quite place why yet.]

[He'll unknowingly help with that urge by reaching out to take her hand and help her walk in the snow, shaking his head at the question.]

Oh, not that much. The snow came out of nowhere. [Little magic things, right? He won't pretend to be an expert there.]

[It's a small thing she may or may not know that she does, easily letting him take her hand, fingers curling to - hold on? Keep warm? Anything more goes unspoken if anything. She follows his lead, and tilts her head in consideration of their surroundings.]

Out of... Ah. It's all a spell at work. [Oh, duh. She's a mix of curious and impressed she didn't pick up on it - the differences in magics across worlds will take some getting used to again.]

Is it like this everywhere?

[He's of course delighted to be able to hold her hand like this again, to help her even in such a small way.]

It looks like it reaches pretty far. [From what he's been able to see.]

[And in turn the comfort and warmth from him works wonders on keeping her mood from drifting in the cold too much, however much oblivious she may stay of his own feelings about the small gesture. Still, that answer makes her wrinkle her nose.]

Then traveling further away won't change much. [... Sigh.] A waiting game it is.

[He doesn't miss that the snow would make her gloomy, so he still tries to cheer her up somewhat.]

We could go inside where it won't be as cold. [Some café or something of the sort nearby.]

[She'll never not say yes to that suggestion tbh, and hey perhaps indoors is also just better for - well. Many thoughts that she's got to sort through, given today.]

Okay. [Her gaze still lingers on him, a short pause at first, but by the time she answers she's simply nodding.] Let's find somewhere.

[He's missed those looks, even if he doesn't quite get their meaning.] [It doesn't take too long to find some place nearby, as this area is meant for many people passing by and needing a place to rest at. Maybe they can get hot chocolate.]

[The shivery trip there will be worth it then, but in the meantime she's scrunching up her nose and walking close to him until they make it inside...

And almost instantly it's so much better. The dumb relieved noise she sighs out is very funny.]

[He's indeed amused, though of course it's in that soppy lovesick way of his.]

I'll get us something to drink. [She can sit down in the meantime and make more noises, maybe.]

[By now, she's settled better again, no longer shaking off snow or shivering in her seat. It's a start.

She huddles there a bit still though, eyes cast in his direction to watch as he talks up the cafe staff in that way of his. Sure, only a few steps away and hardly anything so notable in the grand scheme of things. But here she is anyway, observing him quietly just for the sake of it until he comes back with the warm mugs. Hmm...]

Thanks.

[Hot chocolate to chase that cold away. He sits in front of her, watching her back.]

It looks like something's on your mind. [Well, it's to be expected if you left and came back, right? It'd be a strange experience.]

[She reaches for the mug gladly, taking in the warmth, quick to take a sip that runs a little too hot but not so much to harsh the experience. It's nice. She closes her eyes in that moment, not too surprised that he already knows she wants to talks but always a little like she's not braced enough for it when it comes to him.

Setting the mug down again, she looks at him, and nods.]

I had no memory of this place when I returned. Only once I walked across the bridge again did it all come back.

So it's as they've said... [People who'd been at other worlds like this one, and even those by the reception mentioned it would be the case.]

Perhaps to protect this land's secrets. [The whole concept of multiple worlds and its habitants. Seems everything's as fleeting as its visitors. It's clear from his tone and expression he doesn't approve. Of course memories are a precious things that shouldn't be messed with.]

[She takes in his expression, observant, recognizing the disapproval and thoughtful about it against her own feelings on the situation. What she felt before, so wary at the first day here, versus how she sees it now after what she experienced.]

It's possible. Otherwise... no doubt there would be a much greater upset with the worlds connecting to here.

[...]

At least, that was what worried me. [For their own, in particular.]

You were concerned about it this entire time? [So there really is something she's been keeping to herself, huh. Aside from the obvious general concerns anyone would have, of their own sudden disappearance from home and such.]

[She considers her words a little more, perhaps almost seeming like she won't say or like hesitation. There's a certain relief that she knows he won't see her silence the wrong way though, allowing the space.

On the other hand, there is indeed regret from what she didn't say before today, and what may be said now. It's a complicated feeling all around.]

To an extent. It wasn't fully clear at first... how much truly could be affected, or altered, beyond reach from this place.

[Even now, maybe it isn't a guarantee entirely that something won't get messy, but well.]

[Nods along to the words, understanding. It does seem like it could create chaos, but only if there's something that doesn't add up. Which clearly, there is, and this is what's been so difficult to say.]

What is it that you wish to protect from harm?

[A sort of wistful look settles over her, inevitably, one that he's caught her making more than once even while giving her the space not to ask about it yet. Yet the question itself... what to protect? She smiles a little too like she can't help it. Same as ever, isn't it?]

Our land. And...

[.........] The very course of history that I thought was at a risk.

History... [It's surprising to hear that'd even be something she'd care about this much, given her usual attitude towards things. But then, that attitude seemed different during the time they've shared here. It's been making him curious all along.]

[She's wondering too, how that probably comes across with him knowing her, somehow always all too well - yes. It must seem absurd. And while she's never been good with words or explanations like these, if it's Himmel...

Frieren nods.]

Of now until no less than the next 80 years on. The... future, where I came from.

[She can't really explain the weird uncertainty she was feeling until now finally letting this out in the open - almost not realizing it was there the whole time. Now it's more just... she watches his face, tilting her head a little.]

[There's been a more deep change in her he won't specify now, because saying she seems to suddenly care more openly about things seems rude or mean.]

You poked my cheek, when we met again.
