Hey kids! RD here (exceptthedream&wilsonlikesties), your new sub-mod. I'm mostly going to be taking care of keeping housing things up to date, but I'll also keep an eye on the boards and answer questions if no one is around! To stay, I've got a list of people who still need to let me know what sort of apartment/penthouse they want.

Since some people have expressed concerns, no Pride View is not closing. Katy has moved on for her own reasons, but that does not mean that the game is going to close. There has been something of a lag lately, but we're going to work on pimping the game and bringing up activity. For now, I would like everyone to reply to this post with a list of your current characters and any drops, using the following format:

This is just to make sure we have all information up-to-date. Everyone needs to reply by Thursday, January 22, at midnight EST. Anyone who doesn't will be removed on Friday, January 23.

So, to repeat, Pride View is not closing.

It's a short mod post this time as we only need s cover a couple of things.

1) DON'T SPOIL PEOPLE! New seasons are starting in America and all the mods ask is that all spoilers get put behind a cut. If you don't then you will face the Wrath of Katy, and remember that she lives in the UK and will probably be waiting about six months for the shows that you are watching now. She will get very bitchy if you forget the lj-cut. If you're not sure if something's a spoiler then cut it anyway just in case.

2) TAGS. If you do not tag your entries then you will get a warning for inactivity. It's that simple. We spend time creating the tags, we don't want to spend hours going through the communities and tagging the entries.

3) CONTACT INFO. Please make sure all contact info is current and up to date.

As usual, you have a week to comment on this entry. So that is until 30th September 2008.

We know, we know. Another mod post. We can hear you all groaning and complaining about the unfairness of it all from here. So pipe down in the back and listen up!

We decided to let you know of the changes as they’re happening rather than wait a month to inform you all in our next mod post/activity check. Normally we’d try to wait and space them out but we judge this as being important enough to spam you with. Yes, the same rules apply. Reply to this post within a week or you’ll be removed from the game.

The subject that we want to talk to you about today is activity.

We’re very relaxed about activity here. Although we ask that you do something with all of your characters every six weeks this rule has never been enforced. However, we do ask that you’re active with at least half of your characters over a six week period of time.

We did an informal activity check for our own curiosity by using tags in the prideviewrandom community and discovered that quite a few characters haven’t been played there since April, and some have never been played at all. We don’t want to force you to play characters you might not be feeling at the moment, but we also don’t think it’s fair that some characters are kept by people that aren’t playing them.

From now on we will be checking activity with the use of tags in the communities every month or so. Players who are not playing at least half of their characters regularly (once every six weeks to two months) will not be allowed to hold or apply for new characters.

Remember, if you are having problems playing then just let someone know. We’re very understanding and we’ve all had periods of time where some characters aren’t easy to play or when we’ve been swamped by real life. However, if we don’t know that there are problems then we can’t make allowances.

This also ties in with our constant nagging to use tags. If you do not tag your entries then they will get missed and it could lead to us presuming that you are being inactive when you are actually posting and replying with characters.

Also, we ask that you don’t link people to the mod posts. We use them to judge who is still active within the game and reading the communities. If you miss one and get removed then you can always reapply.

The second thing that we want to talk to you about is original characters.

We are allowing original characters on a trial basis. For the next month (until 24th August) we will be allowing the application of original characters. We will be very careful about what original characters we allow into the game and we will require writing samples from people even if you are already in the game.

If your original character gets accepted but we decide not to continue allowing original characters then the character may remain in the game, although if you drop them you will not be able to pick them back up.

It’s that time of month again, its Mod Post time! Please remember to read everything and then reply to this post and follow any relevant instructions that are contained within this post. Thank you.

This post needs to be replied to by the 27th July 2008, we go by GMT time for the purpose of mod posts.

1) Tags.

Please use tags, we try very hard to keep them as up to date as possible and I sometimes feel like I’m spending hours going through posts adding tags to them. I shouldn’t need to do this. When the tag is used for the first time it often needs to be typed in. If a week goes by and your new character doesn’t have a tag then please let us know.

2) Activity.

There are some characters that haven’t been active for quite a while. Although we are very relaxed when it comes to activity we do ask that you think about the amount of characters that you play. If you haven’t played one within the last three months then we ask that you consider either playing them more often or dropping them.

We are not telling you to drop characters that you are not being active with as we understand that sometimes you love a character and don’t want to let them go even if you are a bit stuck with them for a little while. We just ask that you think about doing something with them.

3) In Character / Out Of Character.

Please keep characters in character regardless of how you feel about the player. We understand that there are people in the game that some of you might not like as well as others, but this is not a reason to have your character act out of character.

If you do not want to play with a specific player and they pick up your characters brother/sister/cousin/ex-wife/cousin’s roommate’s sister’s ex-lover from Birmingham, then please talk to the player and come to some kind of arrangement. There are many reasons why people might no longer speak to each other, or you could limit it to polite acknowledgement in the random community. Use
your imaginations, but please keep your characters In Character.

4) Apartments.

Please remember to request an apartment as soon as your new character has been accepted.

If there is a character on the apartment list that is no longer being played then please reply to the post and let me know so that I can remove them. Current characters that need apartments can be found beneath the cut.

You have one week to request an apartment for them or they will be removed from the game.

1) Tags

I feel like I do this every single time, and you’re all probably fed up of reading it but I still feel the need to state it. Again.

Please tag your entries.

Sometimes on the first entry you need to type in the tag before it shows up in the drop down menu. Just because it isn’t there doesn’t mean that you don’t have one. If you go a week without a tag for that specific character then let a mod know.

2) Characters

We do not allow multiple versions of the same character unless they are a mythological character from two fandoms where the characters are completely different.

For example; Satan from mythology and Lucifer from Sandman are not the same character. Just like Odin from American Gods isn’t necessarily the same Odin from classical Norse mythology. Whenever a situation like this occurs the mods will take a very close look at the differences between the canons and will decide if they are different enough to be placed in the same game.

However we are still not allowing two versions of the same character, for example there will be no future!Sylar while there is a current!Sylar in the game. As they are the same character from different points in that characters time line.

If you have any questions about this new rule then please just ask the mods. If you’re not sure if a character is different enough then just ask.

3) Apartments.

From now on every month I will list the characters that need apartments. You will have one week to request apartments and after that week any CHARACTERS that were on my list that do not have apartments will be removed. If you still want to play that character then you will need to reapply.

If you have dropped a character and they are still on the apartment list then please leave a comment to let me know so that they can be removed.

4) Applications

I want to remind you all that you have to wait ONE WEEK to apply and place a hold on a character from a new movie. This is to give as many people a chance to see it as possible.

To put it in perspective for you; Prince Caspian still hasn’t been released in the cinemas in the UK.

Although we do not expect you to live with UK release dates (although Katy thinks that would be great and fully supports making all the Americans wait but that’s why no one listens to her on this matter) we do expect you to wait one week.

It shouldn’t be too much to ask to be polite to your fellow players both in terms of spoilers and in terms of giving people a chance to see the movie in case they also want to pick up a character from it.


As usual you have ONE WEEK (22nd June 2008) to reply to this post or you will be removed from the game.

You also have ONE WEEK (22nd June 2008) to place your characters in apartments or those characters will be removed.

Hey. Tiny mod post. Nothing you have to reply to or anything.

I know some people in the game have switched to new AIM screen names, but the contact list might not reflect these changes, so if you could check the contact list to make sure your info is current, that would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Instead of doing an activity check we have another mod post. Yes. I know. It’s getting ridiculous. Let me just get it over and done with, you can comment and then we can all go back to having fun!

1) NC-17 content is allowed in all the communities. However it must ALWAYS be labelled and friendslocked, even if it is a conversation in the random community that is sexual or violent in nature, it must be labelled correctly.

Some people might check it at school/university/work, so please label everything correctly!

2) Tags. Please use them. If you don’t have a tag then tell us. Sometimes you have to type the tag in the first time you use it before it shows up in the list.

3) Apartments. If your character does not have an apartment then please request one. If characters move in together then TELL ME. I only change the apartments when I am specifically told to.

This is a pet hate of mine and I will start harassing people for apartment requests. If you still don’t request an apartment by next week (28th May 2008) then I will remove those characters from the game as they obviously do not live in the apartment building.

I'm leaving a list of all the characters that need apartments. This isn't a name and shame, this is just so you know without checking if you need to request an apartment. I'll be taking people off of the list as apartments are requested.

4) Please keep your characters IN CHARACTER. We are not a crack game and although the nature of panfandom games implies a certain amount of OOC, it’s still important that your character will resemble the one from canon.

You have ONE WEEK to reply to this AND request apartments for your characters. You must do both by 28th May 2008 GMT. As always, if you do not reply to this post by the 28th May 2008 GMT, you will be removed from the game and will need to re-apply.

It’s that time of month again, ladies and gents, it is Mod Post time!

There are a few things that need to be gone over once again, so please read the post and then reply to it. As always you have one week to reply to it before we remove you from the communities.

1) TAGS!

They are up to date so please use them. If you don’t have a tag then please let a mod know and we will give you one. We’re not psychic and sometimes characters accidentally get overlooked.

2) APARTMENTS!

Please go and check the apartment’s page, if your character doesn’t have an apartment then please request one. If you’ve dropped a character and they still have an apartment then please reply to the post with their name and apartment and they’ll get deleted.

On the subject of penthouses: No more penthouses will be added. Ever. It doesn’t matter who you apply for, if there isn’t a penthouse free then they will not get one. It doesn’t matter if they’re the Queen of England and are used to living in palaces. NO MORE Penthouses will be added.

The reason ‘the character has been around a long time’ will no longer be a good enough reason to have a penthouse. Proof from canon will be needed to get a penthouse from now on and a link to wikipedia or a fan page will be fine.

If your character has a penthouse but you think they might be better suited to a four bedroom apartment then please say so and we can move them around.

3) GODMODDING!

Godmodding is the following: Moving someone else’s’ character without permission, having someone else’s character react to something without permission and using out of character information in character without permission. This is not a complete list of what godmodding is, but it should give you a very good idea.

Basically this is an RPG and you play characters. And you decide what they do and what they think. But you only get to do that for your characters. If you do it to other people's characters, baby Jesus will cry.

4) PRIVATE INFORMATION!

We allow locked posts, locked comments and even partially locked posts and comments. The point of this is to exchange private information between characters.

We DO allow certain characters to be able to read locked information. This is based on their canon and power level. The Endless, for example, can read private stuff because they’re semi-omnipotent, so can other characters from various fandoms. However we ask that characters with this ability ask before jumping into a locked thread.

We are okay with ‘regular’ characters reading private information within reason. For example; Rodney and John share an apartment so there is the possibility that Rodney could go onto the computer after John and read his locked conversations if he’s forgotten to log off. Some characters can know others passwords; some can look over their shoulder while they’re typing. However you still need to ASK PERMISSION form the other player before doing this.

Remember: If your character can read someone’s private conversation then ALWAYS ask before jumping in or mentioning the conversation. If you get told no then don’t do it.

5) RULE BREAKING!

Three strikes and your out. If you break the rules three times then we will ask you to leave. We will issue you with a warning twice before the final time so that you are aware that you have broken the rules.

Alright minions chickadees. Happy little mod post time!

First, we made a little change to the rules. Formerly, the minimum age to join the game was 18. Well, we changed that. We've come to the realisation recently that age isn't always a mark of maturity, and sometimes someone who is 16 might be more mature than someone who is 26. So it really isn't fair to deny someone entry based on age. However, we did want some sort of limit, so the age minimum is now 16.

Second, everything is up-to-date now. The taken list, the contact list, the tags, and the apartments for those who requested. That said, everyone needs to remember to tag the entries when they post or comment. It makes things easier for the mods, who are then less likely to smite. The same is true for the contact list and apartments. When you pick up new people, please remember to update your information. The mods aren't psychic. We don't know where you want your person living, who you want them living with, or how many bedrooms you want. So please help us out and request for all your characters.

Third, please remember to tag NC-17 entries as such and friendslock them. It's in the rules for a reason.

Fourth, make sure ALL your characters have at least their name, if not their fandom, in their user info.

Alright, plot-ish type thing. Yay fun.

The lovely Sheena will be bringing Sweet in from the Buffy episode 'Once More With Feeling' for a week or so. For those who don't know, he's a demon who causes people to sing their true feelings. So there will be musical numbers happening to people until he's gone. You don't have to have your people sing or anything, not everyone has to be affected, but it is a fun opportunity to have your characters be more honest than they normally are, and to embarrass them. Singing can occur in logs or in the random comm, sort of like if the characters made voice posts.

Just have fun with it.

This is a general reminder/information post. Once you have read it, we would appreciate it if you could comment to let us know that you have read and understood everything involved. If you would like clarification on any of the points then feel free to either ask in comments or to IM us on AIM at uneasy lies or kerfluffling. Thank you.

1) Can you please put your characters FULL NAME in their user info. This is simply so that people know exactly who they're interacting
with. If you also want to add what fandom they're from, or any other information then feel free to do so.

2) Please use the tags provided. They are up to date as of two weeks ago, if your character does not have a tag then please let us know and we'll add them ASAP.

3) As a reminder; although Prideview is a pan fandom game, it is NOT a crack game. Please keep your characters IN CHARACTER. Do not turn a character that is snarky into a whiney cry baby, or a character who is badass into a coward, or even a character who is a coward into a hero. These are only examples, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE keep your characters as close to in character as possible with a pan-fandom
game. Thank you.

4) Please wait until a movie has been out for at least ONE week before applying for a character. This is to give as many people as possible a chance to see it, as going out to the cinema is slightly different to plonking your arse down in front of the TV in your living room. If you must desperately play a character from a new movie then please place a hold on them. The holds post is there for a reason. Use it.

5) Apartments: When you apply for a character you get given the link to the apartment's page. Please go straight there and comment with your characters FULL name, apartment number and apartment size.

6) On the subject of canon puncturing. If your character googles, for example, Dr. Rodney McKay, they will find out that he's a brilliant scientist who went off the radar for three years and who is now teaching at Columbia University. You will NOT find out anything to do with Atlantis. However, if you switch on the Sci-Fi channel at the right time you can watch the show.

This applies all across the board. So it is possible that your character might get fangirled/boyed at some point. It is polite, but not necessary, to warn a player before hand.

7) When aging a character up or down, please keep their canon in mind. Someone who was tortured as a child, or who just had a plain fucked up childhood, is not going to be all puppies, rainbows and flowers. Just how someone who is supersweet and loves Jesus and kittens when they're older, isn't going to be plotting murder and world domination when they are twenty. Aging a character up or down is not an excuse to play an original character, they are still the character they were IN CANON, just at a different age.

8) If you wish to play a non-human character, such as objects from fairy tales or that chipmunk from Enchanted or Scooby Doo, turned human, you must give an explanation of how they became human. 'It was Wednesday and I was bored' is not an explanation. There are at least six people in the apartments who could make a non-human character human. Two could do it without conscious thought. Tim made a dragon, he could easily make a magic mirror human. So really, as long as it's believable, we'll probably allow it.
