She'd been up since an ungodly hour trying to get everything together. Just a small turkey, because she knew that it was going to be a relatively small gathering of herself, Peter, Gabriel, possibly Angela, Arthur and the boys ... but stuffing, potatoes and desserts piled on with vegetables still made for a formidable spread.

Perhaps she was just a little nervous - she'd always had help at home to prepare dinner, and while she had Gabriel here - she hadn't exactly planned anything this large-scale in some time. She opened the oven to baste the turkey again and then slipped down into a nearby chair with a relieved sigh.

"Well, that's that for a little while, at least." Now to wait for anyone who might want to stop by.

( Gabriel barely ever remembered his dreams, but the flickers of images that were echoing in front of his eyes didn't seem to be something that he would think about. )

Heidi and Gabriel had taken Monty to bed after dinner and ice cream -- it was understandable that the little boy would be exhausted after all the excitement of the past few days. She yawned, shifting in the bed to wrap her arms around her son and finding ... that he was a good deal larger than she remembered.

...this wasn't going to bode well for her, was it. She furrowed her brows, half-pushing to sit up in the bed. There was going to be a lot to explain when her boys woke up, she thought. She'd told Monty about her situation with his father, but she'd left a few key things out -- mostly regarding Gabriel -- because he'd been too young and innocent for her to tell him everything.

She had been concerned about Gabriel the moment that he'd made that post on the journal systems, but after lingering around to read the exchange he'd had with his mother ... she'd headed over in double time, not bothering to do much other than throw on some suitable clothes. He'd seen her in less, after all. Furrowing her brows, she lifted her hand and knocked rather urgently on the door.

"Gabriel? It's Heidi." She just hoped that he was in fact at home and not off doing something silly.

When it all came down to it, Peter was her family. Even if she was no longer married to Nathan (bugger, that meant that she needed to change her name legally here just to ... appease custom and all that), Peter was still someone that she was close to. Someone that she felt she had to care for.

Which was, perhaps, a large part of the reason she was at the door of his apartment, knocking firmly. He hadn't seemed well since he'd 're-arrived', as it were, and that was definitely a cause for concern. Now ... well, it was even more obvious that something had changed drastically with him and Heidi wanted to know exactly what that was.
