Well at this point in time on Earth they are because science really is not very advanced yet. Stable artificial ones won't be invented for ages and ages, let alone ones that last for more than a few micro-seconds, and that's just the ones that only travel between different points in space, not between dimensions. I'm not very good at science though so I can't really explain how it works or anything.

Hey, I'm Cassie. It's... pretty much what you've been told so far. It seems to be way easier to adjust if you already know someone though so you're ahead there.

The technology isn't all as space age as it looks though. I think computers is probably the most visible area where it's changed. I'm from 2002 so I had the same WTF when I saw the tablet and phone but there's no food replicators or anything to go with it as awesome as that would be.

Hi Cassie, I'm Brooke. I am grateful that Sam is here, but that doesn't make it any less confusing, unfortunately. Hopefully she can fill in the gaps in my memory.

I can't believe it's 2014. That woman, Holly, told me I had been in a coma for a few months, but last I remember it was 2001. This is so strange.

Yeah, it grabs people from different times too. From memory Jenny (the girl who commented before me) is from some crazy number of years in the future but most people seem to be from between about 2008-2014 so I guess it's like a bell curve or something. I think apart from the phones and computers the biggest adjustment is probably prices. Everything looks really expensive, it's sort of hard to figure out what a good deal is.

I haven't left the hospital yet so I can't comment on the prices, but these computers are amazing. I still had a Nokia phone a clunky desktop at home.

I didn't even have my own of either! My parents had a computer for work since my dad ran a wildlife rehab clinic, but that was it. It's sort of weird that they've gotten so much better and smaller and also so cheap that everyone has them.
