Many of you know anjenue and have heard that she passed away yesterday in a car crash.

Anj was a member of pornish_pixies and had been an author here for several years. She will be very much missed by both the Harry Potter and the Prince of Tennis fandoms.

A community has been set up on LJ (We Love You Anj) for people to leave condolences for Anj's family or memories of times spent with her or of ways she touched individuals through her writing or her joy in life and fandom.

Author's Notes: This was written for hpvalensmut as a gift for ginny___weasley. Just a note on ages - even though it isn't expressly mentioned in canon, the Black family tree that JKR drew lists Narcissa's birth year as 1955. Lily was born in 1960. The request was for the girls to be at Hogwarts, and so to avoid writing a prepubescent Lily, I took some liberty with the ages. In this fic, Narcissa is seventeen (seventh year), Lily and Snape are sixteen (sixth years), and Lucius is twenty-two.

So our first challenge for the new year and the new community was inspired by a little snippet I ran across in a Wired.com blog recently regarding "predictions" for the upcoming year.

Including one that involved the Sorting Hat, bigamy, Scotchguard addiction, and underage sunbonnets.

Really, who can resist that?

So this challenge will require each artist and author to use in a primary capacity some sort of canonical magical device or item. Whether you choose to use the device as a main character, a sexual aid or a plot device is entirely up to you, but the fic or art must revolve around the device you choose.

A list of all canonical magical devices or items may be found here at the Lexicon.

Stories and art by community members with posting access must be posted in the Insanejournal community by midnight your time zone on February 10. All entries should be tagged challenge 08: magical devices.

In addition, this challenge will be open to all watchers; if you'd like to participate, please email your fics and artwork to pornishpixies @ gmail.com before midnight your time zone on February 10 and it will be posted to the community for you.

Bits and bobs

• There was an issue with the RSS feed not cutting, as some of you know. (And thanks for the heads-up there for those of you who let me know about it.) Hopefully that has been fixed now thanks to some help from gmth. If it continues, please let me know via a comment on the LJ or IJ community--don't comment on the RSS feed post because those comments aren't sent to anyone, so there's a really good chance I won't see it. :)
  
• gateway_girl has started us off with a bang by posting Unnatural Attractions (Harry/Sirius, NC-17).

I decided to write one of each, and came out with the first, Territorial Adjustments, rather quickly. This one, however, stalled out and sat unfinished on my hard drive until quite recently. Only canon-compliant through OotP.
