While everyone was busy panicking, Michael was busy doing nothing. In fact, he was doing nothing to the point where he felt like he could have fallen asleep because he was doing so little. Instead of allowing that to happen, though, Michael began to wander around the house. He wanted to make sure that he at least knew the basic layout of the house, though there wasn't that much space that he would be unable to find his way around. That was something that he was glad for. With that knowledge in hand, Michael continued his search. This time, he was looking for something to do. Anything would do, yet it seemed that he managed to pick the one time when he was unable to find anyone or anything.
As such, he went to the one place that he knew he would be able to get some sense of satisfaction. The smell of musty pages, of dust and words longing to be heard called out to him as he walked into the stacks. There had to be something there to pass the time. Running his hand along the shelves, he felt the spines run beneath his fingertips. With time, he found a spine on the shelf that pulled his attention away from the rest of the room. Pulling it down, he opened it to the first page and began reading it. The first few lines were interesting enough, so he took the book and sat down in a chair and began to read. The words on the page were drawing him into their world to the extent that the rest of the world had faded from his attention, so when someone walked in, he had no idea and continued reading.
