Irregardless of nationality, ethnicity, lifestyle or life regimen, no children have been born anywhere on the planet in the past fifteen years. Panic abounds. Extremist governments come to power in most countries. The whisper of a cure becomes a chant and soon rumors become reality. The United States government announces a treatment that can restore fertility among its people. However, fertility comes at a cost. Legislation has quickly been passed. The treatment will only be administered under certain conditions. An individual must be in good health, between the ages of 16-50, and married. Furthermore, participation for all eligible individuals is not optional. Unmarried individuals of age will be listed in a lottery, and married with the intent to start a family. Institutions have been erected. Before all matched couples are sent into their forced cohabitation, they are required to spend time together in government sanctioned counseling centers. Once each month they are required to undergo the fertility treatment, and they are expected to produce a child. Failure for one or both to do so will result in imprisonment until they comply. That is not to say that they haven't played, haven't hunted and killed - oh, they have. They've just been very careful. They do say don't bite the hand which feeds right? But then that was before humans ruined the world - until their hatred and greed sucked it dry and left it a carcass of its former glory. This can be due to many things that happen in the role-play world. Maybe the game the character was created for didn't even see its first day, maybe after a few months the game died. Perhaps your character wasn't accepted like you had hoped they would be. Homeless characters are those that sit in our mind, still active and as loud as ever who can't find a place to play. Well now there is a place for them. Safe Haven is a universe where any original character from any back ground will be accepted. You don't have to edit the base character to fit a new premise or a new plot line. Your homeless character is accepted as is. Whether they are from Earth, Jupiter or beyond. Regardless of their race or breed. There can be people with the same faces, vampires, werewolves, princesses from a far away land...anything is possible.
