What if they were real?
The myths and legends.

Since the dawn of time they've been blamed for all of life's oddities. A strange noise? It must be a ghost. Pets mangled and eaten? Maybe a werewolf got them. That pale man that never ventures out in the day? A vampire, surely. Children behaving badly must be changelings, and that table had to have been forced into your path by a mischievous sprite, now giggling at your misfortune.
The list goes on. For each being, there are hundreds of tales, most pure delusion of course, though much of it based in fact.
From Nessie and Sasquatch to the Bermuda Triangle and the Land of Mu, our world is filled with the unattainable, the unexplainable... that which we call Myth, or Legend.
Yet, like the Will O' the Wisp, or the ghost breath that sends a shiver down your spine, the truth tugs softly at our conscience. Whispers in the dark of a boogeyman in the shadows, or a fairy spinning gossamer tales in the corners of your mind. They are real. And in so many ways... they are just like you. They work. They feed. They even have children. And just like humans, those children go to school.
School however, isn’t always as just classes and homework. Strange old castles often have far more lurking about them than is so readily apparent. Ancient curses have been set loose on the school. Memory loss. Sickness. Power switching... Was it an accident? Or are more sinister plans afoot? Unanswered questions abound as the students and staff first try and understand exactly what has happened to them...

It is the Year of Our Lord sixteen hundred and two, and strange things are stirring in England.
For years, the stories have circulated of the Witchbreed: young men bearing strange abilities and magical powers; folk who can fly, kill at a touch or read a person's deepest secrets simply by looking into their eyes. And whether or not the tales are to be believed, those in power are apt to look upon the unfamiliar with fear and suspicion. Spain has responded most violently: the Inquisition persecutes anybody who looks different or appears to have supernatural abilities, burning dozens of people as Witchbreed. In England, Queen Elizabeth I has remained mildly tolerent of the Witchbreed; as long as they have not troubled her people, she has not seen fit to trouble them. She has thus far turned a blind eye to the operations of Spanish national Carlos Javier, who has established a haven for the strange new breed under the guise of a selective school for the sons of gentlefolk.
However, recent events have thrown England in disarray. The Queen has been assassinated by an unknown agent and James VI of Scotland has been propelled to the English throne. James, whose fear and hatred of the Witchbreed is legendary, was quick to lay the finger of blame on the creatures he so despises. He has dispatched men to capture and kill any known to be Witchbreed, and hefty rewards are offered to any who are able to identify or turn in anybody showing unexplained powers.
Meanwhile, in Domdaniel, Spain, the Grand Inquisitor Enrique himself has been revealed as one of the very monsters he hunts, secretly smuggling away any who could pass for human, gathering disciples - a Brotherhood of Witchbreed. He and his followers have escaped death at the stake and fled from Spain to whereabouts unknown, leaving behind them a heightened atmosphere of fear and suspicion.
The world is an increasingly unfriendly place for those who are different. Master Javier's college remains one of the few safehavens for the Witchbreed, but it seems only a matter of time before it, too, is uncovered by James' men.

Excuse me if I'm posting this in the wrong place; if I am, please tell me and I'll delete.
I wanted to ask for some help in deciding what sort of game would be most wanted around here. I've noticed some people are looking for something outside of the ordinary locations and I agree, but of course don't want to make something purely to have it sit there and do nothing; I have some options floating around in my head, which I'd love some feedback on/a decision between, and also I'd love if anybody could throw ideas at me here. All of these ideas are based in Britain, as not only do I live there but I feel it's vastly neglected in the RP world. All ideas are for PB.
- A community based in a British market town, using Shrewsbury, Shropshire as the model. One of the few Roman settlement towns still remaining, it looks quaint and calm on the surface but has (like the model) a rich and dark underbelly, social and cultural diversity and a vibrant history. Shrewsbury is actually my hometown, so I do know it well and you can trust that the town being used is not being butchered by incompetant mods. Due to having one of the most prestigious public (private to any American readers) schools in the UK, people are always settling in Shrewsbury, and it never slows down but is always buzzing and changing with the times. Many celebrities also choose to settle in Shrewsbury as their home, as it has a large upper class area. It's very close to larger metropolitan areas such as the cities of Birmingham, Manchester and Chester. Of course, like anywhere in Britain you are never out of driving reach of the coast and/or other major cities. London is three to four hours drive away. On the other hand, there is also the oppurtunity to play characters with a more rural background, as the town is a market town surrounded by farm lands and countryside, wildlife reservation parks and some of the most picturesque scenery in Britain (such as Wenlock Edge and The Stiper Stones). The town has a rich history and an even richer present; all is not picturesque and peaceful by any means.
- A community based in the historical British city of Chester, an originally Roman city with parts of its medievil walls still intact. Another city the mods know very well which will not be butchered or represented wrongly. This city is rather like a larger Shrewsbury, however setting the game here may make more people feel at ease to create a larger range of characters. Please note that any range of characters/PBs is welcome in any of these suggestions. Trust me, I live in these places, they are as diverse as any major city I've visited.
- A community which works on the basis of an online community for all residents of the UK. Britain is one of very few countries which offers this oppurtunity in RP, so why not make the most of it? To travel the full vertical length of the island takes 19 hours on a bad day. I'm not quite sure how this would work yet, but we'd work to make it the most playable possible. Open to suggestions.
- London. The obvious choice- yet severely underplayed, London offers alot of oppurtunities as an RPer. And yes, I know London well too.
I'd really really appreciate any help and suggestions here, I really want to get a British game up (and of course, all cultures are welcome! Nobody is going to bash you on having little knowledge of Britain, we really only have knowledge of America thanks to Hollywood, which is hardly the most accurate source).
