Going to a Dead Man's Party, Pt 1
Who: EVERYONE.
What: CASKET’s 16th Annual Halloween Party!!!
Where: CASKET
When: October 30th, starting at 7 pm sharp! This thread is getting posted early so everyone can get a head start on the festivities, since this weekend will undoubtedly be busy.
Warnings: Anything can happen.
Notes: All right, boils and ghouls, this is how things will go down.

Upon arriving at CASKET, for two hours everyone will remain in their mortal forms. Drink, discuss, have a good time. Please label your thread with the location of your character - At The Bar, On The Dance Floor, Lounge Area, On Stage Singing My Drunk Little Heart Out, In The Bathroom Puking My Guts Out, whatever strikes your fancy.

Let’s have everyone be nice and courteous: please ask before entering a thread in which there are already two people, unless of course you already have it planned that way.

At 9pm sharp, the deities will begin to take over their mortal shells, though not entirely; only certain aspects will show through, whether it be appearance, powers, or whatever. No full transformations. In this thread, you don’t have to worry about the deities just yet - I will post a second thread for that part of the night.

Have at!

Waiting for an invitation to arrive...goin' to a party where no one's still alive...

CASKET was done up with bells - every inch of the club was redecorated for the main event of the year. Though Julian professed to like no holiday above another, Halloween had always held a special place in his heart. Even if, in modern times, it was meant for those of a younger age, that didn’t mean those of a younger spirit couldn’t join in on the festivities as well! And he strove to provide the most elaborate environment possible for everyone to get their freak on. The addition of Pax patrons was a nice touch, or so he thought - with how lucrative his neighbors had been thus far, who knew what could happen next?

Red lights were exchanged for ultraviolet, hoping to pick out and showcase ghoulish specters in their best light. Every bartender was done up in the best make-up money could buy, elaborate skulls painted on their faces and dressed to match with bones detailing arms and rib cages. The stage area was covered in a thick, ground creeping fog, The Crypt Keeper Five’s instruments already set up and ready to take center stage once the karaoke was done for the evening. Multicolored string lights of skulls were hung from the rafters, adding a festive air to the space amidst the spiderwebs and other macabre decorations. Julian was surveying his work, his own face done up in a friendly looking sugar skull, skeletal gloves covering his fingers while a suit made him seem rather dashing despite his dead demeanor.

The club was already brimming with costume guests, ranging from the sexy to the obscene; as long as no one toted a fake weapon, anything was welcome. Lingering by the bar, he watched the entrance to see who might show up first - and to see if a certain wife was going to make an appearance. His mind lingered for the barest of moments over what would be clinging to those curves, but Julian quickly wiped his mind clean of those thoughts. Undoubtedly she’d only be here to cause trouble, nothing more. Instead, he ordered a Blue Voodoo Doll, which a skeletal Yvette handed to him with a smile. With his potentially most loyal ally manning the bar, Julian was ready for whatever this evening might bring; his lips curved into a smile as Oingo Boingo’s No One Lives Forever blared out over the sound system.

"I swear, the one thing I will remember, is to have you give Fiona a heads up about our date. The last thing I want is her mad at me, she is really not the person you would want as your enemy is she?" Sean smiled though as he said it, because of course Fiona was tough on him, he was dating her sister, she had to be strict by law. "Don't apologize for that, it will all work out eventually, you'll see Karin. It's hard not to get along with me, I eventually win everyone over."

"That doesn't surprise me in the least," she laughed. She mused privately for a moment on the thought of her sister finally, someday, getting along well with her lover. Their first meeting had gone wholly different than how she had planned, and though they had maintained a kind of calm throughout, it could have been markedly better; she trusted in Sean's ability to bring Fee around, but knew it would take time and a great deal more than good intentions to do so. "Thanks for being so good with her," she added. "She's... a handful. Always has been. But she's such a good person. You'll see that.

"What about you, Sean?" she asked. "Any siblings?" She paused a moment, swallowing another healthy sip of her drink before continuing, "Any kids?"

At the image of him having kids, Sean instantly laughed and shook his had quickly. It wasn't that he didn't want kids, it was just that he hoped if he did he would tell Karin that minor detail, but then again, he didn't tell her that he was bisexual. "No, I don't have any kids. I have two siblings, an older sister that lives in Louisiana and a younger brother that is in college back home. I talk to them every so often, but I really don't talk to my parents. They don't agree with any of my life style choices, my choice of job and especially my religion." Sean paused, taking a long drink from his beer before continuing. "There is something you should know about me though Karin, I'm bisexual."

She paused, then, uncertain what response was then required. Though she prided herself on being forward thinking, progressive in nearly every aspect of her life, some part of her had always quietly held the very salt of the earth belief that bisexuality was merely a phase, the plaything of flirtatious coeds and those too desperate or greedy to make a final decision. It took her aback to hear Sean say such a thing. She warded off uncomfortable silence with a long sip of her drink, only the sharp arch of her brow giving her away.

"Well," she said, dragging the syllable out. A tumult of thoughts crossed her mind, the order of their importance hopelessly uncertain. She wondered if perhaps she should insist upon an STD screening, demanding to see his results; close on the heels of that thought was the fear that she was being abysmally midwestern, an utterly archaic dinosaur of morality here on the Left Coast. She cleared her throat and began again, hoping to get this right. "If that's what makes you happy, Sean. Does that mean you'd rather this be... an 'open' sort of relationship?"

"OH HELL NO!!" Maybe it was the drink in his system, the need he had been feeling for something a bit stronger, or just plain shock, but Sean reacted a lot stronger than he needed to, shaking his head and grabbing her hand in comfort. "I know the stigma out there about bi-sexual men, and I promise, that's not me. Don't look at it as being bi-sexual, the word has so much negative connotation, I look at it as being open to anyone. I'm attracted to men and women alike, and I just don't discriminate when it comes to who I date, I judge people based on personality. That has nothing to do with having an open relationship or not I promise, I only want to date you."

She could hardly doubt the truth of his answer; it was, after all, the most vehement she had seen him over anything in the limited span of their time together. She felt foolish for having asked, but better all the same. Her thumb brushed light against his skin, feeling the hard ridges of bone beneath his tanned skin. She felt oddly grateful for his presence, for the solidness of him. After long months of nightmares, visions, and blatant paranoia, the tangibility of his being there with her meant more than she could say.

"Thank you, Sean," she said, her voice a hushed whisper. "That actually..." She laughed, more at herself than anything. "That's really sweet."

Sean was surprised that she had taken that so well, because he really had agonized over that for quite some time. Every time he had wanted to tell her, he had come up with an excuse not to, and by the time he had the courage to tell her, it seemed too late and he didn't want to risk everything. "I'm sorry, I should've told you about that much sooner than I did." Sean smiled when he called her sweet, and reached out to squeeze her hand. "Thank YOU for thinking that was sweet and not freaking out on me."

Sean looked around for a waitress, and seeing them all occupied, he decided that he would head to the bar. "I'm going to go get a drink, do you want anything?"

"Another whiskey sour, if you don't mind," she said. Holding his hand, she returned that tight squeeze, looking up at him with a smile to match his own. It felt as if they had successfully passed some obstacle, she thought - some test of their fledgling relationship. It was a good feeling, and one she looked to keep going throughout the night. The party seemed as if it might be ramping up; another drink, she decided, and perhaps she and Sean would find a quieter place in the club, somewhere they might be relatively undisturbed.

(OOC: Ready to close this one out?)
