Love is wrapped around my heart like a boa constrictor
Who: Karin, Fiona, and Sean
What: Effects of October! Sean gets constricted in two different ways during a yoga class.
Where: Yoga Studio and then Pax?
When: October 5th
Warnings: None as of yet

Yoga class had been interesting, to say the least. He was halfway through the class when his leg suddenly started to cramp up. If he had been overdoing it and participating in too many classes today, he would've understood, but it was the first class of the day, and it was an introduction class. He tried to ignore the pain, which usually worked. He was just in a sitting pose, one he never ever got leg cramps from. Back when he was a beginner his leg would cramp from time to time, but he just pushed the pain away, and it stopped, at least partially. He would stand up and have a leg that was asleep, but that was it. This was different, it felt as if his leg was being put in a vice and someone was slowly turning it so that it was tighter, and tighter and tighter. Sean did his best to work through the pain, but the agony in his face definitely showed. It was pretty impossible to do the active poses when it felt like his leg had a tourniquet on it. He tried to casually looked down while the students were in warrior 2, and he didn't see any bug bites, bruises, or sign that his leg was being squeeze. It looked completely normal. Was this all in his head?

A few poses too soon, Sean called for everyone to get into a relaxation pose of his or her choice, instead of assigning a specific relaxation pose. The introduction class only had another week or two before it graduated to the beginner level, so thankfully they had been taught a few different poses. Sean got into an inversion pose. He went to the nearest wall and scooted up as close to it as he could manage, putting his legs up flat against the wall, his behind touching the bottom base of the wall, arms out and spread. This helped blood circulate through his legs and throughout his entire body, at least it was supposed to, but Sean felt absolutely no different. Great. He closed his eyes and attempted to work through the pain, if only for appearance sake. Just as he was starting to be able to ignore the throbbing pain, he found himself short of breath. It started subtly at first, Sean found himself breathing quicker, not being able to take deep steady conscious breaths. However, very quickly Sean found that no matter how hard he tried, it felt as if he couldn't get enough air. Sean instantly went down from the relaxation pose and went to his mat, taking a long drink of water, as if that would magically help. What was going on here? Where had this all come from? As Sean drank water, he found the pain subsiding and his ability to be able to breath slowly coming back to him. There was something eerie about the whole thing, especially since it seemed to just disappear, as if it had never been a problem.

Sean dismissed his class and calmly as he could, ensuring that they cleaned up. He left his mat and things in the classroom and went out to the front desk area where he kept his cell phone. He pulled it out and texted Karin: "Are you around?? I need to talk to someone. I'll come home if you're around."

Karin took the beer without looking, unconcerned as to its contents. The tension in the room was nearly palpable. A little drink to ease the burden it created would hardly hurt any of them, of that she was certain.

"Fee."

She turned back to Sean, shaking her head in a wordless apology. Silently she chastised herself for having ever expected better. The way things had gone between the two of them it would have been foolish for her to anticipate an easy road here. Sean remained a sore spot, but that was a first impression Karin sincerely hoped he might amend upon this - and hopefully further - visits.

"I can't tell you a lot without a more thorough exam," she said. "You may need some blood work. For now I've got some painkillers you can have. Not too much, and nothing addictive, but you know." She shrugged, her beer sloshing against its walls as she did. "It'll help you get through the night, at least. I know a couple of hospitals that won't turn you away if you don't have insurance, okay? We'll get you sorted out."

"Hefeweizen is fine, thank you." Normally Sean wouldn't drink on a work day, but as he had left, he had told his boss that a medical emergency had come up and he might not be back to work that day, and that either way he would let him know. He figured one beer couldn't hurt, and if it became more than one, he would just play the medical emergency card. it was horribly dishonest and he didn't like it, but he had the scare of his life today. He took the beer, opened it up and took a casual drink, of which he almost spit out when Fiona asked him what he had been touching. His mind went to so many different places with that one. Had she heard a rumor about his sexuality? Did she remember his not so subtle post about pot on the public forum? Was she talking about touching her sister, he had no idea, but none of the answers he could think of would help in any way.

Thankfully Karin changed the subject. "No, no I don't need painkillers, but thank you Karin, really." He nodded at the mention of a hospital that wouldn't turn him away. It was quite humiliating to have to admit that he couldn't afford a simple doctor visit, but it was life and he was glad that she hadn't made him vocalize it.

He turned to Fiona and smiled, beer in hand. "I'm sorry for just barging in on you two like this."

Fee smirked at Karin from behind her beer bottle, swinging her legs as they hung over the arm of the chair. She only half-listened to Kar's diagnosis of Sean; she paid more attention to how polite he was, and the way they interacted with each other. He was pretty for a hippie, and a little clean-cut, which could mean any number of things. Still, he was a yoga instructor, so his new-age cred, at least, was well in order. After a moment of considering how bendy they both were and how convenient that probably was, she kind of ooked herself out and took another pull of beer.

When he turned his attention at her, she raised her beer to him and shrugged.

"No big deal. I was just gonna ask Kar how the two of you hooked up." She smirked again, and took another sip of beer. "Not too many details, though. She's my sister. It'd be weird."

Karin could not fight the flush that rose to her cheeks, though thankfully she could do something to hide the expression from her sister - who would leap upon that weakness given half the chance, good intentions or not - by focusing more on her patient. This she did, with slow deliberation taking in his appearance, his demeanor, until at last she felt she could look at Fee without her embarrassment being so plainly written on her face. Still, it was not the kind of story whose telling commanded a great deal of respect, and Karin knew it. It sounded far more like her living out some college fantasy, and she expected no better reaction from Fee than such a thing might deserve.

"I went to his yoga class," she said, her chin lifting as she tried to lend some gravitas to the comment. The effort failed mightily. "And one night you were working and I... woke up..." She shrugged, taking a long pull from her beer. "It is what it is," she added, the idiom falling markedly flat.

"Actually that one yoga class was so amazing, I don't think I've ever had a yoga class where I felt that connected to someone, or attracted to for that matter. It was a beautiful morning and breakfast, and I knew right then and there that I had to ask you out," and one of those days they would go out on a real date. They had sort of skipped that part, which was okay for Sean.

Fee's amusement got rolling with Karin's reaction, a slow, Grinchy grin spreading across her face as she watched her cheeks turn pink. But it wasn't until Sean spoke that both of Fiona's brows rose, and she laughed outright in something like a snort-chuckle.

"Oh man, stop, stop. I'm sorry I asked. I can't, this is hilarious, but I don't have dental right now, so that's too much sweet for me," she said, laughing some more.

Shaking her head and taking another pull of her beer, she suppressed another chuckle -- but only to keep from choking.
