Spare some change?
Who: OPEN TO EVERYONE. PLEASE COME IN. :D
What: Dov got kicked out by Charlie, so now he's standing outside Pax Letale asking for donations. And being none too kind about his half-sister. Acting like a kicked puppy, mostly.
Where: Just outside the entrance to Pax.
When: Saturday, August 13. 5:15 PM.
Warnings: Uh... I'm gonna go ahead and say language.
Notes: It'd be especially awesome if someone could come in and tell Charlie what's been going on, too.

Humiliating. That'd be the best word for what Charlotte had done to him last night. He'd come to try and get answers, give answers, have some sort of better understanding of this half-sister he hadn't known about. And what did it get him? Thrown out by his collar. Literally. He'd sort of sat there for a few moments on the hallway floor in complete disbelief. After that, he'd gone back to his car, had a smoke (or two or three) and passed out in the back seat.

Upon checking his wallet when he woke up the next afternoon, he found he was a lot lower on funds than he originally thought. Meaning if he didn't cough up some cash fast, he'd be stranded in California for quite some time. And with the hostility he'd received so far, that wasn't exactly the best sounding plan. He just wanted to get back to Catskill, sell the house, get back into Brooklyn and go from there. But how the hell was he going to afford that?

Being babyfaced and young looking had its perks at times- coming across as being innocent and sweet being one of them. So for the past hour he'd been standing outside of his sister's apartment building, looking pouty and dejected. Spare some change? he asked whenever someone would come in or out of the building, his accent toned down, voice soft. My sister- Charlotte Fairica, she's in #103- she kicked me out onto the street and I need to get home to New York, can you please help me?

So far he'd made twenty dollars and he was spreading the good word of her being a total jerk. If he kept it up maybe he could get something to eat while he was at it.

He seemed to have stumbled onto the set of a soap opera - Dov's sob story certainly seemed to have a ring of truth to it, but he was having a hard time imagining someone turfing him out that suddenly and it not being clear she was simply panicked by the sudden appearance of a long-lost half-sibling.

"All of a sudden?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.

Scrubbing his forehead with the back of his hand, Elias stared at the wall across from where he sat. If all this were the truth, then it wasn't so simple a thing as he had first imagined. He squinted.

"Why did you not prepare for the trip home?" he asked. His tone was flat, but there was nothing in it that accused; it was clear that Elias was asking the question simply to make sense of the rest of the story. He still couldn't understand why someone would make a journey to see a family member they'd never known about before, without preparing for the trip home.

But here he was.

"Yeah, all of a sudden. Like-- we were talkin' and then I guess she just got uh, tired of it or whatever and was all like 'I think it's time for you to go' and didn't even give me a chance to get up before she tossed me out! I swear, I dunno what I did, alright?" The whole sob story act was getting really hard to play- it was all true, but Dov couldn't keep his accent down or the whole soft voice thing either.

"Dude- I really did have the money to go home. Then my car decided to break down in like... the middle of fuckin' Nebraska. Had to pay for that and the shitty overpriced hotel too-- 'cause I've been sleepin' in my car the whole time but I could't really do that if they got it in the shop, ya know?" Dov let one hand slide into his jacket pocket, fingers running over the change he'd managed to bum off the building's tenants that day, then leaned back in his chair with a sigh.

"I dunno what I'm supposed to do, man."

"Sounds like you've got really shitty luck," he pointed out. Well, it had to be said, didn't it? If he'd truly been kicked out over nothing, had his car broken down and ended up wasting all his money on a hotel, that was piss-poor luck on a whole new level.
